    Name

    Boreal Scaradesh (Lord Boreal)

    Species

Tiefling. Once proud members of the most prestigious races of the world, now shunned and exiled for their deeds, Tieflings are individuals that signed a contract of power with a patron of darkness. The blood of a demon runs through the veins of every Tiefling - a demon that seeks the destruction and demise of the civilized world. Due to their inherited blood, Tieflings are notorious for commiting some of the worst crimes in history, constructing the general perception of Tieflings as spawns of evil. Without a distinct town or nation to call their own, they roam the lands of the world, seeking either refuge or acceptance in urban environments where they can effectively hide from the menace of the mob. A Tiefling can easily be recognized by a pair of prominent horns creeping out of their forehead, crimson red skin, yellow or purple eyes that lack an iris, as well as a scale-covered tail that can reach up to 6 feet in length (approx. 185 centimetres).

Boreal belongs to a sub-branch of the race of Tieflings called the Shadowlings. Individuals of the Shadowling tree bear the encumbrance of lesser shadow devils, channeling their patron's existence in a very different manner where instead of horns or tail they possess a right arm and leg made of pitch black shadows. Their desire for carnage is much more controlled, and the members of the branch usually channel said desire in civil conflict. Their numbered communities can be found in confinement of the larger civilizations, where clans, ruled by a respective royal family, wage war against each other, with the sole prize being acreage and quenching their species' need for violence.

    Appearance

Boreal stands at a massive six feet and six inches (two metres) of height. The menacing warrior strikes fear in the hearts of his enemies as soon as he uses his right hand to draw his weapon, exposing the darkness flowing within him. His facial characteristics on the other hand are much more contained. A pronounced jawline is covered by a stylishly trimmed beard, and thick brown hair trimmed around the scalp decorate the top of his head. A rather built physique hints towards a past of violence of war, and a few wrinkles on his face suggest he's about to hit his thirties.

Matching his decent height is a set of enormous plate armor. Now lightly rusted and lacking the bright finish of a thorough polish, the texture of the armor is martyr of the combat it has seen throughout the years. Below the set of donned armor, a comfortable woolen sweater dyed in gray sits above his skin, and below a pair of red trousers of the same fabric. The sweater features a hood furnished with thick fur for protection against the cold. The look is further defined by a large leather belt, tightly secured by an iron band.

    Abilities

Apart from their desire for blood, Shadowling Tieflings possess a number of other traits that set them apart from the rest of the races. Their right limbs can be manipulated almost at will, allowing a member of the race to change their appearance and physical properties at will. The arm can be big or normal, it can be shaped into a weapon, a whip or a claw, or vanish and become plain air. Thanks to this trait, their eyes have also been adjusted to be able to detect and see through faux images and illusions.

In terms of skills, Boreal is a trained soldier. He's a master user of many different weapons, but he excels in close quarter combat with a glaive, his signature weapon, or a trusty longsword, which he draws instead of the glaive in tightly confined scenarios. His skill with the glaive is legendary among his people, and he is more than willing to prove it whenever fools doupt his skills or dare to mock him for his racial origin.

    Special Weaknesses

Due to their inherited connection with devilish patrons, all members of the Tiefling race are extremely susceptible to divine magic, and the symbols of all clergies that defy the demons of the world in general. All churches are forbidden grounds to them; exposure to the simplest of symbols can cause heavy damage to them, ranging from permanently scarring their skin and bruising it to burning or skinning them alive, as their skin peels off on its own. This is also an additional reason as of why you'll never run through a Tiefling in a town or nation ruled by a theocracy - symbols and churches are in ambundance and might as well lie in the next corner they take.

    Items they have

Apart from his heavy armor, Boreal currently carries no weapon with him, as they were stolen by him during an ambush of thieves on his way to Waise. Even though he didn't have them, he could still provide his assailants with a rigorous beatdown with his fists, but eventually they managed to get away with the sword and the glaive. He's still in possession of his armor, and a dagger strapped around his belt.

Providing your fellow roleplayers with enough information about your respective character and his actions is pretty vital, in my opinion. Then again, you can't just make a rule asking people to provide information. Sometimes, you need to raise a finger and point at participants that fail to do so, and ask them to work on that. I'm not in favor of a word limit either (save for the mandatory "no one-liners" rule), but it must be said that it do annoys me when people post a four-liner then procceed to be inactive for a long period of time. If you plan to (or end up with) a pace that's as slow as Precipice of War was (a couple of posts per month) or similar, writing long posts is necessary to provide everyone with the information they need to do so for their own posts. This is especially easy in the case of roleplaying a whole group/nation, but in a typical third person character format, it doesn't do.

Setting, I guess. RPs featuring complicated plots end up in the trash can because people that join can rarely get behind the creator's original story. The ideal structure is to provide a complex setting, in which the OP gives the playable characters permission to tell their own stories through their characters, and a complex setting does also provide them with the hooks necessary for doing so.

BTW Zak, with all these bombing attacks taking place in Turkey right now, you should be posting safety checks every now and then.

The Mendratian Principalities - The 1st Biennial Ambassadorial Meeting, part 1

The first biennial meeting had been decided to be held in Daisuke, the largest city of mainland Mendratia. For the first time in the history of this land, a representative of every one of the ten tribes would meet with their peers from the other tribes to discuss matters that concern the entire region and the common benefit of all tribes, instead of the well being of just one of them. To commemorate for this extraordinary event (which will hopefully persist and become a biennial event as originally planned), thousands of citizens from all around the West gathered in Daisuke, to observe the public meeting which would be conducted at the central square.

The affair became such an attraction to the locals that the crowd exceeded the expected amount that the square could support. As a result, the Western Guard had to assemble a unit of peacekeepers in the commemoriation in order to maintain the physical integrity of the honorable council of the ambassadors. Nobody would want to see a diplomatic episode being caused by bystanders that attempt assassination against a council member - a scenario that wasn't far out of the picture considering the rather volatile relationships between the various tribes of Mendratia.

To bolster the celebration, the kings of Chun, Daisuke and Feng attended with their entire royal courts assembled, bringing with them jesters, performers and reknown chefs of their lands. The feast that would follow this event was going to be held in the palace of Daisuke, where the royal court of each of these tribes would contribute to make the event as memorable for everyone as possible. Unfortunately, the kings of the other seven tribes didn't follow their respective diplomatic missions to Daisuke, being afraid of the treatment that they would receive there, but an active guard of each of these nations, together with hand-picked soldiers of the National Guard, were deployed to see that their ambassadors reach Daisuke safely.

But even though the event was aiming towards the protection of every tribe's interests in both land and economy, it was a known fact that the Western Pact - the unofficial alliance of the three great western tribes - was going to impact the verdict of close to every course of action that the board would elect. The total population of Feng, Chun and Daisuke was bigger than the entire population of the other tribes, heavily outweighting the importance of their ambassadors against that of those of the other seven settlements.

Celebratory bells rang and horns chanted, as the ten diplomatic missions entered Daisuke under the keep eye of Bastion operatives overwatching the event. The people screamt in joy, letting songs of cheerfulness and satisfaction fill the atmosphere of Daisuke. Everyone was excited, as on this day, the coglomeration of tribes that is Mendratia would, for the first time in history, decide and act together as one, unified nation of people. The feasts were splendid, and the revered musicians of the west performed in every corner, alley and square of Daisuke. Merchants set up shops and bazaars, to join in for an event that would be held for three weeks in Daisuke. Even the lower class took their day off the field, to join in the free celebrations that took place all over the inner city.

    Military Actions

    1. Eighty percent of the Western Guard (approx. 20,000 soldiers) are now stationed in Daisuke. They are on high guard to secure the integrity of the meeting. The remaining force has been deployed across the naval border of Lake Karabat, to secure the frontline from 'visitors'.
    2. An undisclosed amount of Bastion operatives is overwatching the event. The number is estimated to be around a thousand hands.
    3. Around seven thousand units of the National Guard are now being stationed in Daisuke, one thousand per mission arriving from the eastern provinces. They are to remain there for the entire three-week period, and escort their respective missions back home once the event has been completed.

    Infrastructure Actions

      1. To commemorate the event, Daisuke has entered a rapid state of growth with multiple buildings and roads being developed all over the city.
        1. Reconstructing the road network has been completed. (1/1)
        2. A flea market and multiple celebratory banquets are being held across the nation. (1/1) According to the estimations of the royal court of Daisuke, these events will help to boost the morale of the people in the West.
        3. As an outcome of the event, several upperclassmen are contributing towards the establishing of a commemoration hall in Daisuke. (1/10) Construction is estimated to finish within a two year timespan.

      1. The Western Guard patrolling the lake are reinforcing their camps and barracks across their perimeter. (1/2) These fortificational upgrades should be complete by the end of the biennial event being currently held in Daisuke.
        1. Additionally, the Western Guard that patrols the lake in boats has issued a call to arms to all sailors around the west. (1/1) The naval force is now doubled, counting about 60 boats of active fleet. They should be able to respond to any threat within a minute's notice. After the three week time period has expired, the locals will return to their everyday actions, reducing the size of the fleet back to its normal numbers.

    Diplomatic Actions

All diplomatic missions are now stationed in Daisuke in favor of the biennial ambassadorial meeting. Once the event has been completed, the ambassadors of the coglomerate should have decided upon a deployment assignment for their diplomats, in order to boost their fragile relationships with their neighbours. The kings of the various tribes are positive that Q'rin, Kurubar, and Southern Kurubar are going to be the first canditates that the ambassadors would endorse as possible nations these missions visit.

    Diplomatic Ties

    Currently none.

    Informal Actions

    See opening text of flavour.

(( Information that has been underlined has my official permission to be metagamed by other nations who might be spying on Mendratia. It is strictly prohibited to these nations only. ))

I don't think I posted here in the last couple days.

Somehow I'm not finding anything worthy to reply to. Or things are dead here.

We can't talk about politics, we can't discuss the economy, we can't talk about drugs but I guess filling out pages with a thousand different variations of 'hi' is good enough.
