posted a message on Question about mods (please help)
Ok so I haven't really played minecraft for about a year (been in the military and just haven't really had time). Anyway I remember a mod I used to use called zombe's modpack and it would allow me to fly on any server. Now I've been raping my search engine to find that mod but all the links I find are way too old to actually work now. So If someone could please tell me if there is any fly mods for the current version and if they could please explain to me, (as simple as possible) how do I install such a mod? Now I understand that the current version right now is 1.7.9 so would I have to revert to any earlier version of minecraft to install a fly mod? Please help guys..

Supply us with a picture and/or download link to one of your builds: Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. I did have some cool builds but servers have since went down and I never snapped any photos.

How many hours per day will you be able to play: Anywhere from 5-10 hours. I have a bunch of free time.

    Skype: jay.boissy

Why do you want to join: Looking for a nice project to spend some time on. Can't wait to build myself a sick house!

Have you ever played a Vanilla Minecraft server before: Yes, in fact I've ran 2 of them myself in the past.

What can you do for the server: Build and be a generally nice guy!

    Any additional info: I'm cool.

Do you want to become a who in who-ville: YES I DO.

posted a message on "Garbage collection" / HUGE lag spikes after 5-10 minutes?!?!
    Quote from starlinvf

It shouldn't.... I have a theory, if your willing to test it.

Prerequisite: This problem started after the 10th (Following a windows update)

First, uninstall then reinstall the video card drivers.

If its still hanging up like that, disable your sound device in Device manager.

If the problem still persists, make a new restore point, then roll back to point just before the 10th.

The timing of this problem started around the same time the updates came out, and I've been seeing some really weird issues (mostly Norton related BSODs, and a couple cases of the Network and sound drivers misbehaving after the reboot).

I've had this problem for the last couple of months so I doubt it was caused by a windows update :(

Ok I just spent the last 3 days reformatting my computer HOPING that it would fix this problem but it hasn't. I was told by someone that this sounds like "garbage collecting" but I'll describe whats happening so that you guys can make your own diagnosis. For the first 5-10 minutes my game runs perfectly fine, no lag, good FPS, even on a big server I experience practically no problems but then out of nowhere I get these HUGE lag spikes that are so bad it can take me 2 minutes just to open up the menu and close out of the game. It makes playing minecraft unbearable. I've installed the latest version of java, all my drivers are up to date, I'm not running mods, I know I don't have viruses because I just reformatted so what could be the problem?

Here's a picture of the debug chart during one of these lag spikes:

Here are the specs of my comp:
