    Mining dirt

    I beg to differ. The iron shovel doesn't seem to last long enough for my tastes. I usually use four or five gold shovels before I bring out the diamond one, however.

    plox doesnt mean please, its just an unnecessary addition that can replace the dot or be used without anything else.

    No, it means "please" and is not a replacement for appropriate punctuation.

    I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised. We go through this every update day. We have talked about other methods of keeping the update madness contained, and even tried out a few ways, but this is the most effective:

    ONE "Update 1.4!" thread.

    This is where a lot of us disagree. It's very hard to hold a discussion about an update with more than one big feature.
    Perhaps a setup like this (using this update as an example):

    Thread 1: Update Beta 1.4 Bugs
    Thread 2: Update Beta 1.4 Wolves
    Thread 3: Update Beta 1.4 The Joke Store
    Thread 4: Update Beta 1.4 Minor updates (a misc thread for say for small things, like cookies or beds moving spawn points.

    Then, at least we have to deal with spam on one topic instead of spam fro multiple topics and legit discussions for more than one topic clashing. Likewise, I think less people would be inclined to start new threads this way.

    OCD is hell, this I know from firsthand experience. I find it really annoying when people use OCD as a colloquialism because it downplays the suffering that a person with OCD has to go through and that they can never truly be rid of, even with medication and therapy.

    I don't see why people simply can't use the word "obsession" or "compulsion" (like the topic was changed to). It's much clearer and offers the same effect.

    No, stickies aren't any more visible than a thread that gets bumped every second. For example, see the stickies here.
    http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,64.0.html

    What's different:
    Bolder text for thread title
    Different background
    Divider between stickies and normal threads
    Extra icon on the far right.

    What's the same:
    Different thread icon.

    There's quite a bit of room for improvement.

    Also, thread and poll here.

    posted a message on Please increase the visibility of stickies.
    On many forums, stickies have a different color background and or text along with it's icon. Here, there is only an icon. This leads to more people skipping over the stickies because they regard them simply as normal threads. One big result of this is the current update problems.

    Edit: Here's an example of a forum with highly visible stickies: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,64.0.html

    Bolder text for thread title
    Different background

    Aye, the one thread idea is terrible. As is the constant locking of every update related thread (and some non-update related threads that are caught in the flames). The first problem is that it's a sticky. Stickies here have a really low visibility. Second, is that people are discussing more than one feature in-depth in one thread, which leads to confusion. The third is, that because of the second, the people who are going to create a new thread about a particular feature aren't deterred by that thread because they don't see *their* feature mentioned in the thread title.

    A good solution would be splitting each update thread into a thread for each new feature and INCREASING THE VISIBILITY OF STICKIES.

    posted a message on What happens if you divide by zero on an MC cpu?
    Quote from Sturgerd »
    No, in theory dividing by 0 would work. If you divide 13 for example it would give 13/0=13 because you remove nothing from it.
    And the other way around: 13*0=13 because you add nothing to it.
    The reason why people say it doesn't work is that the first calculator was like one in minecraft, it could not do it.
    Since then the myth grew and became a "false truth". Nowadays we have digital calculators, but those are programmed not to divide by 0.

    No, think about it; spiting something that is already in one group into 0 groups doesn't make sense. Likewise, for multiplication, 0 groups of anything is still 0.

    Most axioms for multiplication (and all the common ones) explicitly define x*0=0. Likewise, since division for real numbers is always defined as the inverse of multiplication, this axiom leads to the undefined result. IE. division can be read as what number(the quotient) times the divisor equals the dividend. Since 0*x=0, the last statement will give you 0=the dividend, which in all cases except when the dividend=0 is false.

    Edit: proof

    Case 1: x!=0
    Assume x/0 is defined for all x != 0.
    Then 0|x
    Then 0*y=x, such that y is an element of real numbers.
    By an axiom of multiplication, 0*y=0.
    Thus x=0.
    From the assumption, x!=0.
    Then x=0 and x!=0.
    This is a contradiction, so x/0 cannot be defined.

    Case 2: x=0.
    For 0/0
    Assume 0/0 is defined.
    Then x*0=0, for every x in the real numbers.
    Then 1*0=0 and 2*0=0.
    Then 1*0=2*0.
    By the assumption that 0/0 is defined, (1*0)/0=(2*0)/0 yields 1=2.
    Note, 1!=2.
    Then 1=2 and 1!=2.
    This is a contradiction, so 0/0 is undefined.

    In all cases, division by zero is undefined.

    2. you need to make flint + iron ore ( cant smelt iron without fire, so just iron ore)before making torches, furnace, or anything else with fire.
    OR find lava, then you can make any thing burn.
    why? because u cant make torches without fire. DUH!

    Err, 2 sticks rubbed together (or better yet, a fire bow) works quite well to make fire.

    How do you have the note blocks set up?

    Anyway, not to be totally useless, here's a suggestion. Have the final note of the track be powered by the track's input of a NAND gate. Then, use a switch (or a button and a T Flip-Flop) and lead that into the other input of the NAND gate. Lead the output of the NAND gate to the first note block.
