The mod adds new type of bookshelf with only one face.
The block is directional and changes it's state depending on it's content. It can store up to 8 items - all types of books and maps.
The enchantment is remastered and now you will have to use 60 books instead of 45 to reach maximum enchantment level. But every single book placed in every single bookshelf will change enchanting possibilities and amount of particles spawned by this bookshelf.
You can hook up BUD switch to detect when player grabs/puts book inside it, because content change cause block updates and make hidden passages triggered by the book in the bookshelf.
No download available because I'm still suck at Java. Will try to rewrite it for Forge later.
The new bookshelf is directional block with only one face.

It can store up to 9 items - all types of books and maps.
The items can't be stacked inside it.
Drops empty bookshelf and contents upon breaking
7 full bookshelves and 1 half-full bookshelf are equal to the old 15 bookshelves in terms of enchanting. You need 45 books for lvl 30 enchantments as before.
The enchantment level is modified as in the old bookshelves -
3 books (or maps) give you 2 lvl incrementation.
6 books - 4 lvl incrementation.
Even though the bookshelf can store up to 9 items, the 4 lvl increment is maximum.
Full bookshelves emit twice more particles than half-full bookshelf.
You can take and store books when you use the table without worrying about maximum lvl decrementation.
For mapmakers it is possible to create big libraries where you can actually hide some code/password or just stories.
You can use the bookshelves as redstone switch because it cause updates upon contents change and open hidden passages etc.
I want to change block id depending on empty slots quantity and I tried to use updateEntity() method, like furnace, but now my gui is just not opening.
Is this a right way to do that or I can somehow update the block from container file only when it's contents are changing?
Would be cool if you add Slot tutorial for specifying furnace fuel or making special chest for some types of items.
Another stupid thing about the beacon is that it is entirely unaffected by the material that the pyramid is made from, or the fuel that is used to power the block. If it doesn't matter what is used, everyone is just going to use iron. It's dumb.
You can use iron golems since they kill all the zombies and skeletons and use cats to move the creepers faster. with less non creeper mobs you get more creeper spawns
It is an addition to my Sorter. I made it not just for Creeper farming.
If you want to farm just Creepers I have another compact sorter that can work without Iron Golems. It is less accurate though.
It's just like PsychoIncarnate said. I have WIP block right below the enchanting table and the light is togglable by sticky piston moving one block of the pyramid.

I made it in 1.4.7, so no hoppers and comparators compatibility yet. I'll try it when MCP for 1.5 will be out.

I think gold is less valuable.

Here's the old one:
And these are screens of the new improved one. I'll make a video about it when whole structure is done.

I have a good-looking automatic record farm integrated with mob sorter already.
Sadly you won't need it after the first use...

Yes, I'm using sorter. You can see it in the video.
