I was the eighth or so comment on the other thread and predicted your first work's future success. Happily I can say that this is just as bound to be a phenomenal, highly revered texture pack.
Your hard work does not go unnoticed my friend! Thank you for your dedication to the Minecraft Forum! Remember also to post additional screenshots when you get to finishing the textures.
I appreciate that Sheep. I quite like the texture, but feel it lacks the distinctive qualities that a dirt look should have. Then again it is a neat pixel style.
Anyway I'll see what I can do. I agree with the chunky dirt. Tiling is my downfall though, still. I'll post what I come up with.
On a side note I've been here (on the forums) since Early 2011, wandering about before creating an account in April. I've seen the greats come and go, the continuations take over. It's been fun. Hopefully that factor remains!
So for the past two or three days my Minecraft client has been undergoing some problems. I've recently downloaded the OS X Lion update over the Mac App Store and have updated to Java 7. I don't believe that the problems started exactly when I updated either of the two installs, but I'm unable to play my game now nevertheless.
There is an explanation on the Mojang Bug Tracker, but it seems that the moderators over there are unsure whether the problem lies on their end or is related to a security measure or something else as a result of Apple's changes.
Basically once I tap any key, say double-tap "w" to run, the rest of the keyboard does not respond.
Note: I've also just updated, a few minutes ago, my lwjgl to the newest version following the instructions on the Minecraft Wiki page: http://www.minecraft...ls/Update_LWJGL
These are very good. Though you must adjust a number of your textures' saturations. Especially some of your ores, and your newest logs, the greener ones.
Plus I believe you should revert your stone brick to your cobblestone's colors.
Noise is always terrible. You can have as extensive a palette as you like but it is the unrestricted use of color that takes away from a lower resolution pack.
Yes, if you did use noise, then I am referring to noise.
I understand your rationale, but believe that it is unnecessary in textures like the wooden door. The uneven pixelation is really unattractive. Plus your new CTM glass is really weird looking. The pixels should be more symmetrical throughout the frame, it looks awkward.
Throughout the pack the total color usage is astounding, possibly a result of the use of noise. I believe it unifies the pack as a whole, as grainy looking, but realistic, though deteriorates from the experiences.
Look at any of your textures, but for this case the cobble stone. Zoom in. There is not one constant highlight color because of this noise. There is a blue, a green, a yellow, a pink-colored highlight at the top of each stone, that gives the texture less consistency.
If you look back towards John Smith v7.4 or so, you'll notice the color usage is not random, its constant and restricted. I understand that you're trying to use his work and to make it your own, but I feel there is something to take out of the pixel art techniques that highly populate the texture pack forum.
Consider symmetry and color "re-use" as you continue to tweak and add on to your texture pack.
Again, your work is really high quality, but there are some cases where the graininess, well, is a bit overwhelming.
The amount of time you have dedicated to this pack seems astounding.
With this said there's an overall graininess and too pixelated of a feel to bring it the success it deserves.
Keep working on CTM support. It enhances the appreciation everyone will have for your work, though do consider the effect a color reduction will have on the pack's quality.
None the less, you receive applause on my behalf. Well done!
Your other plank textures are really not up to the standards of your oak plank. I think the tiling on the jungle plank throws me off and the contrast of the birch is lacking. And I don't know why I'm unsatisfied with your pine, but I just am, so... make it happen texture man!
Anyway, I'd have to see two different item variants and compare them to make a judgement on the outline.
Many loyal fans have turned away from these continuation projects, not necessarily because the quality of the updated art is poor, but rather that there remains no consistency in style, from what once may have been.
With regards to payment for your art, Ovo, its simply unlikely to happen. Look across the forum! Noteworthy artists who take donations have barely amassed $50 for their grueling efforts. You're asking for a bit much, though I do believe in this art as a hobby of mine, rather than something that I, personally, have true experience and mastery in. Therefore it's not truly my place.
But certainly you have to take dominant control of this project, again, or in no way will this gain (or regain) the necessary audience in the first place to fund such a proposal.
Sheep, you should tone down the contrast on your oak log. The lightest value is quite too light. Do the same for your lapis block, not that I use it, with its darkest value.

Still working on the side grass. It's kind of weird as is.

Also will you fix up your birch biome colors? The red leaves are out of place.

Note that this is a 16x piece upscaled to a higher resolution for viewing purposes.

Do you have an example?

Picked a color out of your palette and added in another shadow to both the stone and cobble.
Left the ores alone. I simply don't have the patience to change them.

I love your loading screen and color choices. The grass and stone colors complement each other very well.
Well done Peyton, well done.

Otherwise awesome work man!
