Gosh! These are so awesome! Your ores could benefit from some more pop. Lovely shapes, though. Your crafting table, door and woods are brilliant. And I am totally jealous of your neutral stone colors. Much easier to work with, I expect.

These are what I got, folks.

Note a few new blocks above: tilled soil, bookshelf, diamond block [shading added], stone brick. I slightly simplified the shadows under my diamond ore tile and changed the red brick and sand to fit stylistically.

Edit: Also added gold block, glass and crafting table; expanded bookshelf capacity.

Also: Call me Matt. No need to type out my username.

Nice, muted colours are gunna be the bane of your life soon though!

Yeah, that issue seems to have arrived with these ores. Haha!

Some other tiles to reveal too.

Any tips for improving everything I have made so far? I would appreciate any suggestion!

Edit: Added wheat stages and revised cobblestone!

Having a go with the palette Steelfeathers made. Some progress, I would say.

These challenges are always great fun! I will toss this into the arena for some brave fellow to dabble with.

Edit: Revised the presentation of this palette before addition to the title post. Obviously inspired by the brilliantly clean format of XSSheep's.

Yeah, in terms of organization, and convenience the terrain.png will be a dearly missed asset.

Am able to create new worlds, but after quitting the game, the save becomes locked and inaccessible. Will have to go to the Microsoft store to figure the situation out. Might have to contact Mojang through their error progress site.

To stay on point, where would you say your inspiration for this new art comes from? I see influence from Doku's old works. Dokucraft was damn nice up until he redid the colors. Everything desaturated worked for him. No color consistency in the Saga Continues pack.
    Really like your choices.

Also suppose, John Smith's old pack shines through, and the work of other successful pixel artists on these forums. So, where do you go for inspiration?

Been quite a while since I perused these parts. Member for over three years. How long have you been around? Seems a couple months more.

Sheep, your work continues to astonish me. Dirt and Stone textures look great. Lovin' the updates!

Just wish my client - switched over to a Windows 8 PC - would actually work Minecraft. Thing is so strange, won't let me open any worlds. No errors, just locked, unable to click the play button. Had a trackpad issue, but fixable. Want to play with your resource pack - missed that whole transition, was it painstaking for you to switch formats?

Anyway, continue doing what you're doing, because the mere sight of your work makes me happy!

    Pixel Daydreams (1.7.2):
    [16x] by Steelfeathers

    1. Grass and Leaves: Green colors are overly saturated (for grass). Top seems more like leaf side. How about more "curvy, thin strands of grass" for a look? Flowers are unique and colorful. Poppy and Dandelion seem different from the rest. Wheat, potatoes, and carrots look great. Leaf blocks are varied and well-designed.

    2. Stone: Natural stone and cobblestone flow lovely into one another. The cobblestone is outstanding. Great tiling and coloration; excellent! Stone brick needs work; shape is repetitive and sizes are too large. Red Brick is too saturated. Sandstone textures are awesome. Ore blocks under-impress; too simple. Furnace is great but doesn't fit with the intended style. Maybe too shaded?

    3. Wood: Oak log tiles annoyingly. Oak plank is wonderful. Acacia and Jungle bark, play around with them. Dark oak works great with sand textures. The other planks (besides the oak) are just alright. (I prefer the variety of Dandelion, especially spruce). Bookshelf is perfect - great colors. Crafting table, similar to furnace comment, a bit overdone.

    4. Other: Wool is fantastic, as are the stained glass blocks. Regular glass is overly plain. Add an interior pane or something. Pumpkin is adorable. Water texture - color is too pale. Play around with that block also, it generates everywhere (and deserves to be great). Iron and gold blocks are exactly the right style. And about the bed texture, you should be impressed, very well done with it. The small and large chests are my favorite blocks of all.

In Review: A bit stylistically confused, but tremendous potential. Balance the colors out (grass specifically). I think the Eldpack comparison (made by another user) is accurate, but here you have greater contrast and better color variety; the blocks just need to work better together. Adjust the tiling for the oak log and stone bricks. Next you should texture the menus (after the terrain); I agree with your checklist for completion.

The new blocks, specifically the wood types. Acacia and Old Oak I believe they are called. Both log and plank. Item textures should come next. Do finish the rest of the tools if you start on the new fishes, and other items.

You all are so inventive with your color choices, are true pixel artists! I really am struggling with this. I came up with this tile, but don't see myself continuing.

    16x Tile

I struggle with choosing appropriate colors, both within the confines of this restrictive palette, and in general sample texture-making. Eek!

No more than two-three weeks time. The style should be set, artistically, not thematically. There should be no rewards, period. The experience of improving as artists and the uplifting result of completing something, should be a satisfactory motivation to participate. Content wise, enough of the resource pack should be finished to constitute an enjoyable modification to play with in-game. The contest thread must be concise, yet also well put together. They should not be annoyingly promoted.

And I disagree. The user who creates the thread, whether he has texturing experience, and or is well-known in the sub-forum community, are significant aspects that determine the success of the page as a whole.

A message about the state of this pack...

You should adjust the non-pixel art textures in this pack to look less pixelated. Touch up the doors and the furnace, and the few others. You're too much of a professional to state your pack is "99 percent pixel-art."

I feel like if you narrow down the total color count on this pack, and redo some of the overly dark textures, this would become one of the top pixel-art packs on the forum.

There are some textures in here that are just so good, that they are placed at a disservice by being included with others. I think your plank textures are well done in their shading; so fix the crafting table because it's the only one wood tile that looks out of place. Your stone textures on the other hand feature a grain that works on some and does not work on others. Your side grass and grass top could really be re-done; you are capable of better. The dirt looks good in game, but I think you should play with new designs. Lastly, your bed, flower textures, ores and ore blocks, as well as your furnaces and doors - just fix the color overload - are pixel wizardry. They are truly wonderful.

Add in what is not finished for the terrain, specifically the hoppers and the command block, experiment with CTM and Biome Coloring, and bring down the crazy dark wood log textures, and this pack would reach the glorious spot on the pixel-art pack ladder that it deserves.

Please Steelfeathers, you are my only hope! That was kind of a Star Wars reference, but not really, because I am totally serious!

Anyway, consider what I'm saying, judge my critique, and work on this. Dandelion is simple pack greatness, and I believe this should be up there on my so-called "pixel-art ladder."

I also prefer this variant of plank, and am eager to see what you come up with for the other styles!

Also, I would be curious to see a log texture with more depth. On the left and right side of the texture add additional shadows. I personally dislike the current oak log texture; the shading style is weird.

I cleared out my mac of all old files including all of my texture art, on purpose. I needed to start anew. It has since refreshen my three-year-old laptop to seem as if recently purchased.

I mostly like these but some color and detail adjustments are needed. There is a conflict between styles, but other than that, I'm quite satisfied.
