Note: Removing the block that you spawned on, and not placing a block back (So if there is no block on your spawn point) then dieing may spawn you elsewhere as it is too small to pick a spawn close by. So it will spawn you on the mainland, and it will be impossible to get back. Be careful! (This problem is fixed for the versions that are above this spoiler.)

"How do I keep my water from re-freezing?"
This is a very simple fix. To stop your water from re-freezing, as this is in a Tundra (snow) biome, simply place a block above your water source, or a torch next to the source. There are alternative downloads for the level.dat file, but this will eliminate a challenge and therefore you can't complete them all.
Alternative level.dat downloads

"How do I light a Nether portal without Flint & Steel?"
This is very simple to do, but it may take a few tries. The basic idea is to get your lava to light a piece of wood or something else flammable, and have the fire spread through the portal frame so it ignites, therefore activating it.
Step-by-step guide by iiTzWho
How to light the portal without Flint & Steel
It is actually really easy, if the wood burns out before it lights, try again
The rest will be in spoilers, each step in a separate spoiler
First Step
First, set up the portal (I wasn't in SkyBlock for this, therefor had 14 obsidian not 10)
Second
Set up the wood, and a little barrier so the lava doesn't go everywhere
Third
Place the lava down, let it catch fire to one of the planks, then grab it back up
Fourth
Both planks should be burning..
Fifth
The portal should be lit, if not - try again
Hope this helped somehow, good-luck with SkyBlock
TL;DR - Set up portal, put wood at base and back of portal, light wood at base, let it spread to back, BAM portal lit.

"How do I get gold ingots?"
Go to the Nether (with guide above) and make a platform there for zombie pigmen to spawn on. Kill them for gold nuggets. Once you have 9 gold nuggets, place them in a crafting table in a 3x3 fashion, which creates one gold ingot.

Even Older Versions
Even older versions of OptiFine are available in the OptiFine history.
If you have previously used MCPatcher for HD Textures, HD Fonts or Better Grass (important)
Follow these steps to prevent a possible "Black Screen" problem when installing OptiFine:
1. Temporarily revert back to the Default Texture Pack.
2. Uninstall the HD Textures, HD Fonts, and Better Grass mods from the MCPatcher. These functions are included in OptiFine.
3. Set Graphics to Fancy
4. Install OptiFine and test with the Default Texture Pack to make sure everything is working.
5. Select your previous texture pack and graphics settings
6. Run Minecraft and enjoy
Compatibility with other mods
When installing OptiFine together with other mods always make sure to install OptiFine last. The only exception are mods which are designed to be installed after OptiFine and say so in their install instructions.
If you need ModLoader: Install OptiFine AFTER ModLoader.
If you need Forge: Install OptiFine AFTER Forge.
MCPatcher is NOT needed for HD textures, HD fonts and BetterGrass, they are included in OptiFine. Install OptiFine without MCPatcher's HD features for best performance.
If you need DynamicLights (ModLoader edition): Install OptiFine AFTER DynamicLights.

bl4ckscor3 posted a message on Wood Converter v2.10 - Updated for Minecraft 1.12/1.12.1/1.12.2
Updated for MC 1.12.2.
Do you know the moments, where you only have spruce wood but need some acacia wood desperately? Did you craft too much planks and need logs, but don't have any trees nearby? Then this mod is for YOU! With the WoodConverter mod you can convert all your wood, leaves and more into their other types! You can also craft stairs, slabs and more back into planks, and those back into logs!
All of the following recipes can be applied to any of the shown block types (i.e. the plank recipe works the same for all plank types). The converting order is as followed: Oak -> Spruce -> Birch -> Jungle -> Acacia -> Dark Oak -> Oak
,
The following recipes are shapeless, which means that you can place the shown items in any order into your workbench. They also apply for all other wood types.
Other features:
- Starting from v2.6_3, WoodConverter will check for updates each first time a world is loaded after the game was started. You will be informed in the chat, whether there is an update available or not. As of v2.7, you can configure this feature in the config file. Introduced in v2.8_2, VersionChecker takes over the job of my custom written UpdateChecker. I highly suggest that you use VersionChecker as it's probably supported by many of other mods you installed, and helps you to keep them up to date!
- Starting from v2.10, you can disable recipes in the configuration file.
Thanks to DrPlayStationNation!

Forge installation instructions:
- Download the latest installer of Forge
- Download Wood Converter
- Make sure you ran the corresponding Minecraft version at least once
- Right click on the Forge file -> open with -> Java(TM) Platform SE binary
- Select search and go to your .minecraft directory (default is %appdata%/.minecraft) and hit "Install Client"
- Click ok as soon as it's done
- Drag the Wood Converter file into your .minecraft/mods folder. If that folder doesn't exist, create it.
- Close everything, start Minecraft and enjoy!
Optionally, you can install VersionChecker which gives you a notification on Minecraft's main menu if there's a new update available. No more annoying chat messages (This means you can safely delete the WoodConverter configuration file)
All Forge downloads including versions that are not listed in the three download widgets below can be found over on the mod's CurseForge page.
If you have any questions about the mod, or just want to leave a thank you, please feel free to comment on the thread It helps a lot!
Old ModLoader versions:
- A block where you can select and change your wood directly into your wanted wood type and craft it back (In the works, follow development here.)
- Mod support (for now, only Biomes o' Plenty and Extra Biomes XL), will get added as soon as the block aforementioned is in the mod.
- (Below v2.8_2 only, won't fix) The Minecraft Client crashes, when there's no internet connection and a world is first joined.
Please contact me if you experience any bugs or crashes. Thanks!

DontStealMyBacon posted a message on ★★★ Waterfalls ★★★Posted in: SuggestionsA while back notch said that water bodies would not all be located at y=65. And they arent. They are somewhere between 64 and 66. When I heard this I thought it would be some 30 block difference between water bodies, but nope. Sometimes we get a glitched pattern when the water level does down by one but thats it.
We need waterfalls that look something like this
Picture from inHaze's custom world
http://www.planetmin...nforest-valley/
Input Needed
Fill in the poll and a comment with what size you think waterfalls should be. Do you want to see waterfalls that are as humongous as the one above or do you think they should be somewhat smaller?
According to the current poll results, it looks like roughly 22% want waterfalls that are not quite as big as the one above and almost 100% support adding waterfalls.

Badprenup posted a message on Tips for a 24 hour gaming session?Posted in: DiscussionI know this isn't what you want to hear but I would advise against it. Remaining sedentary for a long time (even if only for a few hours like a normal work day) is not good for you. You sound young so it probably wouldn't affect you much but there is a risk. But excessive caffeine is also dangerous. So if you must, have some general tips:
Change positions or move around often. I would take a 5 to 10 minute break every hour. Use this time to walk around and get your heart rate up. Do some jumping jacks or lunges or something.
Drink water for every caffeine beverage. I would drink at least 2x as much water as caffeine. Also don't just get junk food, go for fruits and vegetables. Not only is it better for you, they give real energy for longer so you won't crash like you will with junk food. That said, go ahead and have some treats too.
Finally, know when to throw in the towel. If you start to get tired and can't keep your eyes open, don't try and push through it. If you start to get a headache or migraine, call it quits. There isn't any glory in a 24 hour gaming session, or a 24 hour "anything" session. I've done gaming sessions or other sessions for longer and it only seems neat that you did it for like a week. After that it doesn't matter.

Eggplant42 posted a message on MCDungeon v0.18.0
MCDungeon will create a procedurally generated dungeon in a preexisting minecraft map. It is not yet feature complete, but can already generate dungeons with quite a bit of variety. It is written in Python and makes use of code from Paul Hodge's minetown project and codewarrior's pymclevel.I primarily use this for SMP and multiworld via Craftbukkit and MultiVerse. But it works just fine in single player too. Thanks to the following for their interest, inspiration, and great ideas! (in no particular order)BeeTLe BeTHLeHeM, codewarrior, Link1999, SoNick, Commander Keen,Yelik, NoiGren, whoiscraig, ChocolateySyrup, Sevminer, AnderZ EL,SuddenLee, Silre, NuclearDemon, bking1138, BarthVader, koredozo, janxious, compgurusteve, and JiFish.

Current Features
- Automatically finds a good location on a map based on range, size, and depth parameters. Can detect player structures and try not to overwrite them.
- Dungeons can be removed from a map later and the landscape allowed to regenerate.
- Dungeons can be regenerated in place with a new layout, mobs, and treasure.
- Can generate multiple of dungeons in a map, or try to fill the map with as many dungeons as possible.
- Generates room layouts based on a random weighted selection of rooms. Rooms are filled with ranomd hallways, floors, room features, and ruins on the surface, all of which are configurable.
- The density and placement of doors, portcullises, and torches are configurable. Option to place fewer torches as levels go down. Less light == more danger!
- A "hard mode" that will attempt to fill in nearby natural caves in an attempt to concentrate random monster spawns inside the dungeon.
- Places stairwells between levels, and a tower entrance with a spiraling staircase. The tower height is configurable so it can be seen for many chunks.
- Optionally places an exit portal at the bottom of the dungeon to teleport players out to the surface. (requires command blocks)
- Places chests with loot around the dungeon in (probably) hard to reach places. An arbitrary number of loot tables can be configured to provide variety. The density of chests is configurable.
- Places mob spawners throughout the dungeon. These will likely be near chests, but not always. Mob types are configurable. The density of spawners is configurable. Some 'non-standard' mobs are available.
- Random placement of secret traps.
- Output floor maps to a terminal with color on ANSI systems.
- Output entire dungeon maps to HTML.
- Other things I've left out to avoid spoilers.
GIANT WARNING TEXTThis tool will write data to your minecraft maps and may destroy them! MCDungeon will attempt to avoid player structures, but there is no guarantee. NEVER run this against a map that is currently loaded into Minecraft! Make Backups! Work with copies! I'm not responsible if it destroys your 120+ hour Justin Bieber pixel art!
Support Tips
When asking for help, you'll get the best response if you are sure to include the following:- A clear description of the problem you are seeing.
- Include your OS version, MCDungeon version, Minecraft version, and any Minecraft mods you are running.
- If running from the command line, include the command exactly as you typed it.
- Use pastebin to post the complete console output from MCDungeon.
- pastebin your .cfg file if you have modified it.
Downloads and Usage

Documentation for old (pre-1.8) TMI
Better documentation for 1.8+ will be up shortly.
Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.
Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.
Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.
Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.
Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.
Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.
Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.
Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.
Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.
Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.
Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.
Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.
Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.
Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.
Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.
Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}
* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.
Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}
Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).
Troubleshooting
Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.
Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.
"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.
Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.
Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

So in short, you want the game to play itself?

Thanks for the PM, love your shaders mod!

I think that Minecraft book of jokes is funnier than your statement. Bukkit did nothing other than offer server hosts a way to add more to their servers. It's the hosts of the servers you should be blaming. They're bad servers then, stay off of them.

Put it all back in the same spots you found them.

I bought a brand new Ps4 about two weeks ago and looked for Minecraft, debating if I should buy it again. Thankfully the upgrade deal was still around after what I thought was supposed to be done with after the one year time span. Played happily until the latest update, where now there's a noticable delay with eating food and killing mobs. It takes about an extra 1.5 to 2 seconds to eat something, and mobs delay/stutter/lag around. It's getting very annoying. I googled this and only came up with a thread from some time ago and it's fixes didn't work for me.

Watch the community take care of it.

Herobrine does NOT exist, has NEVER existed, and WILL NEVER exist. It's nothing more than a creepy paste story. Fact. Go to the wiki. Herobrine being removed in the updates was a joke numerous times, and Notch himself stated Herobrine was part of the game and just some story the internet came up with.

I'm going to say I'm not fond of how abundant Gravel seems to be for me. I'm a tunneler and there's always so much of the stuff it irritates me, even if I can use torches to help bust it up.

You can find a better way to make some cash. I really doubt you'll make anything worthwhile hiding seeds behing an adf.ly link, even so when plenty of users have shared tons of seeds on the forums before.

Are you asking someone here to host the server for you or are you looking how to host one yourself?
Just in case you're seeking to host one yourself, you have two options. Rent a server from a reputable host, or port forward and use the server .exe or .jar from the official minecraft.net website. If hosting and playing from the same computer, make sure you have the system resources available so you're not making it rough.
