If you're going with mods, download mods like Mo' Creatures, Tale of Kingdoms, Biomes O' Plenty, and DivineRPG. They all add boat loads of biomes, dimensions, mobs, and fun things like quests, objects and goals.
Please give links.Anyway, you could set challenges for yourself, like 'no using tools above wood and survive for as long as you can', or 'Having to go at least 1000 blocks to the North each day, and build a wooden shelter at every resting point, every day'. Something like that.
I do agree on the 'bigger range' thing, but if you want the whole map to have the effect, then maybe you'er thinking too big. btw, I don't really need the buffs(though the speed and jump buffs are quite useful while I run around my home.), I just have a beacon to navigate(if I get lost) and mostly for deco purposes.
Kinda true. I once heard a guy say something like this: (quote) Resources are limitless, but your time isn't.
Quite true. So whenever I find diamonds, I use them to make tools. I only use diamond pickaxes, swords and axes(once I find some anyway). I have iron armour at first, then I upgrade to diamond when I have enough.
By "new axe" I mean the feature that was added to 1.4.6 which put the (I may be wrong, I am going from memory) bane, sharp, smite, enchants on the axe so that it can be used as a weapon. Anyone use this at all as a weapon? I for one have not gotten around to it just because my sword has loot etc (Ones the axe does not) so I just use it.
I won't. Swords are much better melee weapons, and for offence tools(even thought axes could be used as weapons), swords use 2 less e.g. diamonds, iron(expensive minerals). So yeah, I don't enchanted axes as axes.
Wood are essential to survival. If you don't have wood, you can't win the game(a.k.a. killing the Ender Dragon)!
I know everybody knows this, but I was just think, such a simple thing, "wood", could make you win the game! If I ask you, 'Will wood help you win win an Ender Dragon?' You would probably say, 'No contest'. But look at the chart I made below!
\/
If you can use wood: Killing the Ender Dragon--->Need to go to the End--->Need Eye of Enders--->Need Blaze powder--->Need Blaze rods--->Need Blaze spawners--->Need to go to the Nether--->Need obsidian--->Need diamond pickaxe--->Need diamonds--->Need iron pickaxe--->Need iron--->Need cobblestone pickaxe--->Need cobblestone--->Need wooden pickaxe--->Need wooden planks, sticks, & a crafting table--->Need wood
If you can't use wood: Killing the Ender Dragon--->Need to go to the End--->Need Eye of Enders--->Need Blaze powder--->Need Blaze rods--->Need Blaze spawners--->Need to go to the Nether--->Need obsidian--->Need diamond pickaxe--->Need diamonds--->Need iron pickaxe--->Need iron--->Need cobblestone pickaxe--->Need cobblestone--->Need wooden pickaxe--->Need wooden planks, sticks, & a crafting table--->Need wood
Then the whole chain is broken. No wood=no anything
