killenjoke posted a message on Pyramid designs.as long as the sides are an odd number it will end in a 1x1 top cause its the lowest divisible number when dealing with odd blocks. basically when you cut a structure in half if its even you'll end up with two even sides. now it it has odd sides and divide it you'll end up with a remainder of 1. that's the single block on top.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

killenjoke posted a message on Pyramid designs.pyramids are easy. lay out a square base then build each consecutive ring one in from the base. if you build it 41x41 you can put a 1x1 top on it. but personally i think th 2x2 tops look better. you could even build it so that it goes up 2 in 2 making it look as though it were built out of much larger stones. like the real pyramids.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

OverlookeDEnT posted a message on Preventing lightning from hitting wool?Do you mean by lightning? Because well... 99% of the time when lightning hits anything its put out by the rain.. I've heard that lightning could strike outside of the raining area.. But I've never seen it... So you should be ok.. as long as it's not a man-made fire source.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

Purplemonkey273 posted a message on Anyone try moving mooshrooms across the map? Any tips?Whenever I do it, since I never use minecarts, I get a boat, an extra bed, and some wheat, and I make the mooshrooms follow me in the boat until I get to land and then keep going to my house. If the sun sets in that period of time, then I use the bed to sleep right away so nothing spawns and tries to kill me.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

DMSiafu posted a message on Anyone try moving mooshrooms across the map? Any tips?I just grab some wheat, and make those red infected cows follow me across the water... because to me, spending over an hour building something i'll only use once seems pointless... in the same amount of time i can make that trip 2-3 times over.... then again, i've led over 16 animals from the ocean before on an old map of mine because EVERY single animal on my world decided to go swimming, so it's no big deal to me...Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

OverlookeDEnT posted a message on Mob spawn area for mob grinder not working? [4x4x2 dark air area]Yup same problem as your slime issue.. Light up more caves.. also for mobs to spawn you need to be at least 25 blocks away for them to spawn in the darkness... IF you want I can show you my gravity grinder set up.. But yeah light more mobs make area bigger... way bigger. 4X4 won't cut it.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

That doesn't always work. There is always that lucky creeper or whatever that survives the fall..barely.
To improve on it, you could do the same thing, make it say, a block higher, and if you have 2 sticky piston, use those to push 2 normal pistons, which will activate, and push the items out a 1H by 2W hole. the normal pistons then deactivate (becoming "blocks" they arent treated like blocks when activated) and the sticky pistons retract, making the room normal again. It works, Its hard to get the redstone to do it, but it works.
but If you have them fall or whatever until they have like 1 or half a heart, use potions of harming. very effective.
in fact, best farm I ever saw, the guy had a zombie spawner, and water flowing so that the zombies moved away, and up (I'm still not sure how he did the water, it was like every other block was water, and it wouldnt flow down.) so that they moved out of the spawners range for spawning, and then it dropped them into a 1 x1 hole, with a slight opening for him to throw the potions (which killed all of them at once) and to pick up the items.
not quite what your wanting, but it was worth mentioning.
The problem of the odd mob surviving the fall is easy to rectify. That happens due to the mobs traveling too fast when they strike the fence posts and typically only occurs when mobs are falling from a height of 50 plus blocks. You can fix this by either installing a water brake or a much easier way now is to use the vines as a brake by having the mobs fall past one piece of vine attached to a wall, set the vine at a height of 26 blocks above your fence post and problem solved. I have one of xboxs most efficient mob grinders ever with an output of over 75,000 items per hour ( which is getting close to the theoretical limit for Xbox due to the 200 item cap), and absolutely 100% of mobs die when they strike my kill floor because I use the vines to reset the fall speed. -

Tamorr posted a message on Easiest/best way to kill trapped mobs? [mob grinder]I think the only mob grinder I built was in creative and that was back before this current update. Still works.. Drop mechanic to it. I use sticky pistons with a block attached to push the mobs off into water flowing to a center hole. 1x1 hole is the final result. And I don't know how high I made it but maybe beyond the 24 probably a 27-28 block drop. I have a single fence post at the bottom which they land on and die instantly. All this is done through a bit of redstone and pressure plates, as mobs spawn on them they get pushed off...Posted in: MCX360: Discussion
I didn't make anything beyond that, but in essence since the post was not surrounded by blocks, and is 1 high off the ground; You could just put a converging water flow below the fence post to go into a single stream that will flow out to desired pick up.
The main things you would need are sticky pistons (with non-transparent block attached.), redstone, pressure plates, repeaters, redstone torches, fence post, water, and enough room for the drop. The top portion is a dark spawning ring around the water flow. Corner blocks serve no purpose so those are filled in.
The only things you will not get from this are enderman or spiders, as this one was meant for the other mobs. The enderman one is best in the end anyhow, and the spider one a separate grinder can be made, if you don't have a spawner for it already. Well that is my way of going about it, and works still. Minus the item retrieval at the bottom as I have not made that yet, but should work in theory.:D -

Make the mobs drop more than 24 blocks and have a floor covered with fences with water over the top. Because the fences are 1.5 blocks tall they cancel out the water saving the mob from the fall damage, so they die instantly, just set the water up to push the loot where you want.

And dear other members, this guy has been continually agitated and seeking help. Calling him a liar doesn't do much and, even then, the accusation could be communicated in a less offending way.

Have fun! I actually did this and it works amazing. The video even explains the redstone really well.
Edit:
Also, used this in survival. And when you get to the three pistons in the back [one to filter, two to crush], DON'T make a vertical stack of 3. I simply moved the top piston to the side, because there was a bug/glitch where the middle piston wouldn extend when it was supposed to but not retract until the top piston retracted [thus crushing the blazes to absolute death].
Last note, use 23 repeaters instead of 24 for T-Flop [you'll know when you see the long line of repeaters]. Leaves all blazes for two hits only, and you COULD mess with the last repeater to make it only one hit, but easier to just use 23 xD
Did in peaceful though ;D Also, if I helped you, please click the green button in the bottom right!
Edit2:
About resources....
Needed:
-Tons of cobblestone [or any other basic block] - Walls, floor, etc
-Stone for pressure plates and button [thus coal]
-A BUNCH of sticky pistons [maybe... 30? Just off the top of my head]
-Two normal pistons
-Blaze monster spawner
-Various tools [pickaxes, ladders for moving up and down]
-Optional glass for end so you can see the blazes above and below the filter
-Bunch of redstone [two redstone torches, redstone wire, repeaters, etc]
I suggest creating a slime farm [ask if you need help], which will get you a TON of resources. If you already have a bit of diamond, I suggest creating an enchantment table and enchanting a pickaxe until you get Fortune 3 [and helpfully Unbreaking 3] [surround enchantment table with bookcases to make it stronger but needs more exp points]. This allows you to get a ton of resources [coal, redstone, diamond] with less blocks. And slime farm helps to purposefully excavate chunks near bedrock, so you can find a ton of resources.
Tip: Build/finish walls only at end
Edit 3:
Was that "derp" really necessary, especially someone trying to help?
And there IS no mob farm that doesn't need a "alot of resources" if you can't even use cobblestone to surround and box in the mobs.
If you want a legit mob farm, then you need "alot" of resources. You want a less extensive mob farm? Box in the blazes, and hit their legs. Oh, too many resources? Then don't. Do. Anything.
Derp. [feel like a fool for posting this entire post just cuz of that crap, but I'll leave here just to still help out]

Any hints of the general landscape? xD
And aren't you one of the 8 participators? O.o [aren't there only 8 total ppl on map?]

Did you recreate the seed in TU9 or is this after the update? [strongholds are exactly the same supposedly either way] [assuming this is so but just to be clear]
Is there jungle?
Is that sand or snow on the map? How much is sand?

And I agree with this thread completely. We need a global TU9 compilation thread as well as easier seed requests
