Anything specific? I would apply, but I have no idea in particular what I would be doing besides helping on your server.

All good rules to follow, I highly recommend people that start servers read here. I will say that some people want vanilla servers, just don't be expecting yours to take off because plenty of people make em. The rule about being active yourself was especially good.

Thank you very much for the review.

And you need to look up how to port forward on your router and the forward the port set in your server configuration file

Cart ahead of the horse here. It doesn't matter how to port forward if the computer cannot run an MC server to begin with.

posted a message on How to make a minecraft server?

As always I recommend my thread: www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/discussion/2351372-how-to-make-a-server-successful

It helps with the administrative portion of setting up a server.

I am going to assume though you want the technical aspects of setting a server up, in which case I need to know the specs of your computer along with your internet speed.

The former can be found on this website: http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/how-can-i-find-my-computer-specs.70655/

The latter can be found using speedtest.net

maybe look at the minecraft Monday show in the holy did you see that segment for cool builds to help make a spawn/lobby place.

Lobby's do not make a server. The best (this is anecdotal evidence, but it still applies in this case) server I played on had a small 10x10x12 spawn, just a cave. Most of the time, I will not be in the spawn on a server nor will many other people, we will be at our own builds so the spawn is irrelevant. Gameplay, Community, Staff. Those are the three main things that people will be looking for in a server.

Luckily I wrote a thread (since this question comes up a lot), step by step, on how to setup and manage a server well enough to get a lot of players. It is worth a read, and should answer all these questions.

    Quote from WatShmat»

My worst experience was when I had donated a ton to this server (around $290, thats quite a bit for me) because it had a nice community and was fun to spend time on. Then the Owner became inactive for around 3 weeks. Then he came back and reset the ranks (which I had payed money for). When I complained he told me just to re-buy it. Of course I did not have the money to re-buy it. It turns out he had been arrested for dealing drugs :l

And that is why you do not spent loads of money on a server. There is no refund policy on most servers, which means legally as long as he provided the rank to you, there is nothing you can do if he removes the rank.

    Quote from ShawnPhillips»

Some of the most depressing moments for me in Minecraft actually happen on my server. The bombardment of idiots that join after I bump the server listing on PMC asking for rank or staff without knowing anything about my server. The constant questions that could easily be answered if they had just read the description on PMC or the signs at spawn. Just yesterday I had one player vying for the YouTuber rank make a video "review" based on his ten minutes time on the server in the middle of the day when I was the only other person online. I face-palmed while watching the video due to it being extremely obvious that he knew nothing about the server before starting to record.

That is why you do not use Planet Minecraft. As Obi-Wan Kenobi put it:

My worst experience was a job I did for a server. Spent three days straight designing a Terrain Control generation .ini with the agreed "payment" being me given world edit powers on that world so I can keep it pretty. I gave the owner the world file, and his admins began harassing me, saying the world was good enough and that I didn't deserve my rank. Not the owner's fault, but lesson learned: get paid in cash, not ranks.

I run a server and the guys are requesting their alt accounts be whitelisted so they can use cam. Is it possible to whitelist those accounts but make it so they are only and always in spectator mode?

This should be possible with a permissions plugin, no?

By rig do you mean computer?

Edit: Just googled Maya 2015, it is an animation software. This is Minecraft General Discussion, IE: Talk about Minecraft. You would be better off posting in a Maya 2015 centric forum.

As for woodycraft, lawsuits take time to setup, Mojang has a backlog already, and negotiations to drop a suit (since no one wants to go to court) take even longer.
