AmpsterMan posted a message on Has Minecraft become TOO easy?I don't understand how Minecraft has gotten easier. The ability to dig a hole into a mountain and cover it up has been there since the introduction of Survive mode. Creatures have NEVER been able to enter a well designed house. Strip mining at level 11-12 has ALWAYS yielded a high level of diamonds. Grinding mobs for resources has ALWAYS been an option. Etc...Posted in: Discussion
People always seem to go on about how the game is easier/ruined etc. but forget how the game has become harder over the updates. Updates such as:
Hunger System; Health system tied to the Hunger System; New Mobs (Endermen specifically); updated pathfinding for AI; Zombies breaking down wood doors; ghasts still blow stuff up; Hording Zombie pigmen; A FRIGGIN DRAGON!; Tool wielding mobs; Witches; that new super mob thingy; blazes; creatures carrying ENCHANTED FRIGGIN' WEAPONS! etc...
It is just a matter of perspective. The more of these stupid threads I read in these forums the more I realise it isn't that the game has gotten easier, casual, boring, repetitive etc. It is that YOU as a player have gotten better at the game. You know why you miss the "Early days of Minecraft" when you roamed around at night and got ambushed and got the living lights scared out of you? Because it was a new experience. One that no game has given us before. You know what has changed since alpha 1.2 in that regard? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Roam around in the dark, the exact same thing will happen to you. The only difference? You already expect it. You know how to fight it off. You know how to defend against it and therefore the challenge is not reduced, but your experience in relation to that challenge is increased.
Do you remember the first time you fell in Lava/ Magma and lost your items? I'm sure you have learned your lesson since then and now carry a bucket full of water with you. (And you STILL may fail at times). Do you remember the first time a creeper snuck up behind you and exploded and you died? Yeah you learned your lesson didn't you "Sssssss" means "RUN!!!" not "what is that noi...." And I'm sure you STILL get caught in a few explosions now and then (even though it is less deadly because you now wear some armor). Do you remember the first time you ran out of torches while exploring some caves? Yeah I'm sure you bring stacks of wood and a crafting table with you now don't you. (And I'm sure you have forgotten this at some point.) Remember the first time you dug straight down and ended up in a cavern full of baddies, learned your lesson there didn't you buddy.
Honestly I can go on about this. My point is thus: The game is still fundamentally the same as it has been since survival was introduced onwards. Taken from the main Mincraft site "Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens." That little synopsis has been there since the beginning of time. Please I invite you to tell me in which update specifically the game has not held on to, changed, or deviated from, any one of those tenants. Just mention one, and I'll eat my hat. Really just one. My Hat. I'll eat it. Just one
These threads are the reason why I seldom come to this corner of the internet. I have been playing Minecraft since late 2010. I have played every single update since that time. You know what has changed since that time? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Minecraft is still the same game we have all come to love and cherish. Yet despite all of this, a few entitled people keep ruining the community for others. I tried being a part of this community. I did. But the constant negativity over the game just brings you down man.
There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. Fanboyism is also a bad thing for any product. My main issue with this community is that people fail to see what the company is doing for its player base. When was the last time Bioware listened to its community? Activision? EA? Yet here is Mojang a small company supporting a game it has been developing for three years and all it asked for was a one time contribution of what, $25? Are you serious? And you complain?
OP please note, though it may sound like it. this post has not been a denunciation of you. Rather it is a denunciation of what I feel is the problem with this community and I just have too much time on my hands this Friday night. The main issue you are experiencing is that you have effectively "learned" the game. You have surpassed the curve, therefore, as a sandbox game, Minecraft might not feel like it has much to offer. It is somewhat similar to other such games such as Dwarf Fortress (yes there is a curve, yes you can surpass it) most Paradox games (Once you can WC with Ryuku, what do you do?) SimCity, Tropico, Railroad Tycoon, etc. Now that you have surpassed the curve YOU need to make your own challenges. YOU need to install some mods; go out exploring; Make a new world; play in a multiplayer server; play some other indie games (I suggest Kerbal Space Program). As much as we might want Minecraft (or any other entertainment) to be our end all be all there is a simple fact of life. It will never be like that. Minecraft will never fulfill every itch we have, it will never satisfy us 100%, we will never be able to enjoy nothing but Minecraft because we are not designed that way. For a month, just try to eat your favorite food non-stop, then make a forum post on how you don't like it anymore and how it has lost its taste. The reality is that you have lost your taste for it.
Tl;dr I have way too much time on my hands. -

Crysillion posted a message on What Youtubers did you unsubscribe from? The worst ones are the ones who do it with the full intention of making money. This would be pretty much RayWilliamJohnson and anyone who tries to copy him. Under the YouTube TOS, you are not allowed to use other peoples' videos and still make money from ads. But I guess he's a magical and is some kind of wondrous exception.Posted in: Culture, Media & Arts
YouTube is money nowadays. You can make a stupid amount of cash if you get popular and more and more people are realizing it. Doesn't even have to be Minecraft. It's everywhere. This is why you guys say you "used to like" people and now all they do is beg for views.
Because views are money. Depending on their setup, 1k views could translate into anywhere from $1 to $10 USD, depending on the ad content. Doesn't seem like a whole lot? Push those figures to people who get millions of views per video and suddenly you've got YogsCast.
You've got clowns making six digits annually off of YouTube videos. I only wish I was joking.
Welcome to society. All about that cash money. Who cares if you like the video? As long as they get their view, they are paid and they will continue to force out the same ol' same ol' unoriginal, rehashed, unfunny content. Dignity will be lost, there is no shame. Pay them.
That's like how some of you said Simon's "aaaaaaahhhh" (you know what this is if you've watched) sound gets annoying on the videos. That didn't start until he first did it accidentally and they realized people loved it. Milk it for what it's worth it. That's exactly what they're doing.
In short, it's all sad and pathetic. They don't work jobs. YouTube is their job, and it's a job that pays extraordinarily well. -

Gishgeron posted a message on DLC Skins is a joke.Posted in: MCX360: DiscussionQuote from AxjZ
You forget that the game was advertised to be the xbox 360 version of the pc game. People are getting fooled into thinkin they get the game with its features, instead they get finite maps, generic pre-made skins to choose from (don't forget they cost money), and a version of minecraft that is about a year behind.
I don't know of a single person that has been "fooled". I knew what was being sold before I bought it. They went above and beyond to make sure it was communicated. Finite maps were expected, and told. Early version was also communicated, as was the knowledge that it would be updated for free. I'm not sure how long I've known about the fact skins and such would cost money, but I do know it was before I bought the game. They've not been tight lipped about any of it. No one is getting fooled except you, and by that I mean you've fooled yourself into THINKING this was PC minecraft. It is not, it was never advertised to be, and it will never be such a thing. Its a console port of a game, and such a thing carries with it a certain understanding. PC elder scrolls games also have tons of stuff with them that console versions do not. Giant mod communities, free content, and overall more expansion stuff sooner. Did you know that several of the mods for past Elder Scrolls games eventually came to console? Things like new bases to own and horse armor for oblivion were free for PC. They were not for us.
Its a part of playing console. On the PC, everything is user controlled nearly. On the xbox you have to go through 2 or more for-profit companies to get things done. It costs A LOT more to do things through a console. There are reasons for this, but I've already decided you won't care to listen to them. You've already decided to be an over-entitled butt about this. -

Devon206 posted a message on Villagers, what do you want?I think villagers have gone a long way since the 1.9 pre-releses.Posted in: Discussion
But there are many more things to do and thats when I want the community to decide what they want.
What I want are coins ranging from iron coins, gold coins, and diamond coins. These coins can be used to buy items from the villagers and maybe even buy a house, but of course they need to improve the house if your going to buy one. Maybe you can even buy some food and maybe some iron or stone from the blacksmiths.
So tell me what you guys want in the next update thanks a lot!

VBFVSD posted a message on Finish the damn game JebThere are so many freaking unfinished aspects of the game. Yet Jeb chooses to ignore them to work on completely new things nobody cares about.Posted in: Discussion
I have been waiting for a way to get sponges in survival since Alpha.
And what the hell happened to the sky dimension that was promised 18 months ago?
Capture the flag was confirmed on Notch's blog. Yet that has not been heard from since.
Minecarts as lava boats would be amazing. Yet nobody seems to want that.
Paper and books has been in the game for ages, yet we still can't write in them?
I never heard about naming chests since September.
The red dragon seems to be an abandoned idea.
We did not have a new ore since Alpha. (Lapus is useless.)
SMP still is buggy as hell.
Not to mention pigmen have been talked about for ages, what happened to them?
And I have been waiting for more underwater content since the beginning of minecraft. And still, non at all...
Custom Paintings seems to have been abandoned.
A use for squids seems like it will never happen also.
And come on, we still can't craft saddles and can only use them to ride pigs?
Cocoa Bean not from dungeon chests is getting no attention.
So Jeb, there are so many unfinished aspects of the game. We don't want any more useless new stuff. Finish all this stuff then you can add things you want. -

0.3.0: Apple users get the update first and the Android users say "It's your fault crApple that us proud Android users don't get the first out of you 80% who own an Apple iPod/ iPhone/ iPad"
Sigh, you can judge some Android users on what they're like in real life.
How in the world did this turn into an Apple/Android war?

You spawn facing to the south.
If you go over the little hill to your east, you bump into a NPC Village! (no chest )
If you go to your north, you will hit a ravine and if you look around you will find a dungeon with a green disc, wheat, coca beans and other stuff I didn't remember. If you also go to the east and north, you will find pumpkins!
Here are the pictures

This is how dumb crafting whiners look when they want crafting. And wait cause patience is a virtue.
