posted a message on MCEdit: Minecraft World Editor (Now open source!)
I am trying to figure out how to edit a world. I am trying to move my player, but every time I do nothing saves.

I am thinking I am not saving properly, or I am opening the world wrong. I am using OSX 10.6.8 so to save a file is usually cmd + S, and in the MCEdit menu that is what it says... I am guessing that is right though.

For the world opening. Do I go to open, load, and do I have to load up the level.dat? I did try editing in there, but none of my changes save to move the player into different places. Do I have to click on "Player" or username?

I have looked up videos but they are pretty old. I have done some things on those tutorials, but nothing seems to save.

The 1.4.7 download to mediafire seems to be broken, or at least it goes to nowhere. I am not sure the download was taken down due to a bug, or something, but I am wondering where I can get 1.4.7 for FTB.

posted a message on So...No Sky Lands? What?
I think notch is just going to use the Aether mod to have the Aether. By that I mean after the API works and stuff he will make an "official" mod download or something that the Aether would be like a mod only expansion pack.

Honestly, skylands is great idea but the aether mod is quite good. He just contacts them and tweaks it up to his liking (by that I mean art wise or tools/ores adjustment) and it is good to go

Is there a plan to change the texture of cobble, smooth stone, and stone brick? At a quick glance they all look the same and in the inventory screen I do keep choosing the wrong stone I want to use.

Not sure if this issue came up though

posted a message on Change Baby Animals
    Quote from LLToon

Babies all have proportionally large heads in real life. This applies to most animals on Earth because babies need to be born with a large enough brain size in order to survive and react accordingly to the environment.

When you grow up into adulthood, your body catches up proportionally to your head, giving the current size you see in adults.

If the baby cows had smaller heads they will simply look like a shrunken miniaturized version of an adult cow, rather than a developing baby cow, which has a large head.

Yeah big heads are awesome but they should not be this big. Just want to say that OP is not a good representative of this topic (obvious why) but he does bring up a good point. I definitely know and agree that baby heads are proportionally bigger than their bodies but I think compared to the baby animals mod, they do not look as cute at all. Look at their heads and they are proportionally good. The baby wild dogs ARE SO CUTE! They have the big heads as well. The chicks are yellow, and have the big head! The cows have a retexturing and their heads are proportionally bigger than their bodies!

So as the heads stand now, I do not think they are good. Yes cute this but it feels like an exaggeration. A bit too much...

posted a message on New fence?? F#%*...
    Quote from Jimbo Jambo

There are a couple different ways they can stick to walls to give the player a bit more control. (All ideas assuming they still automatically connect to other fences)

They could connect to walls only when placed on the wall itself, similar to torches. My personal favorite, although this limits them to being able to connect to one wall at a time.

They could connect to walls only when also connected to another fence. Still somewhat limiting however, as it does not work well with fence windows and doesn't solve Dsohler's problem.

Their connections could also be dependent on whether the fence or the wall was placed first, as per Stellardawn. Possible downside is that constantly placing and removing blocks to get the connections just right could become annoying.

I suppose the connections could also be toggled by right-clicking the fence, like a note block. However, unlike a note block, you still need to be able to place blocks on the side of the fence without triggering it. The number of possible connections you'd have you cycle through also becomes exponentially higher with the number of adjacent blocks available for potential connection. A plus-side to this idea is that a bit of the code can be copied over to redstone, allowing you to manually select where it joins so you can have wires running directly next to each other without joining.

I think Stellardawn's idea is best since it gives way for everyone's choice. Yes a bit annoying but it is like the first time I was making a minecart station and I had to lock track's, face a certain direction etc. So his/her idea sticks more to the theme of structure/creative instances depends on how we place the object (same with the door, piston, stair's etc.)

Also that list of block's fences shouldn't attach to is GREAT! Though, I got to say a pumpkin or watermelon surrounded by fences on all sides must look funny lol and pretty cool, but if we want that I think it should be left to modders

posted a message on The 1.9 constructive criticism thread
My only problem thus far is the large waves of mushrooms. I do not like how it is so easy to get mushrooms now, and how they spread, bonemeal, mooshrooms, etc. Also all we can do with mushrooms is make stew or grow them. New uses for them will be great and I am sure with the new apothecary/alchemy addition to the game it will get vamped up.

Also Yrael, it would be pretty cool to maybe list the subjects of concern in the OP and then under that list the suggestions people give? It would be quite bomb to follow this thread, read first post, find a subject already spoken about, see the changes given, so maybe we can agree/disagree with those (this can start trolling/flame tidbits between members, but it would be helpful)

posted a message on More wool color's?
About a month or so ago at the beginning of the 1.8 Adventure update announcement, I remember notch announcing he added 2 or so colors to the game. Was it for this update? Did he already do it? (I know of brown and pink but it was after that).

So am I just oblivious to the new colors and I can't tell if he added some new ones? Or did he not do it yet?

    Quote from ltkdog897

It has happened to me too, it's been days, AND THEY HAVEN'T DESPAWNED. Even after I've taken all their wool.

It;s a bug. It happens every so often. It can even spawn up to 2000 sheep/individual animal. There was a thread on here that explained all this.... wonder what happened to it

posted a message on clay no longer rare
    Quote from brendanan

Earlier on in the game, i heard in a few places, that clay was actually rarer that diamond, it's just the diamond is harder to find. If that's true, then there is a sh*t load of diamonds hiding in my world.
It seems since the 1.8/1.9, clay has become much more abundant than before.

For example, a world that i created during 1.8 pre-release, which i just went exploring now, in the 1.9 pre-release, has pulled in a massive 329 blocks of clay (not balls of clay, blocks) in about 30-45 mins of exploring.

Is it just my lucky world generation, or has the clay spawning been adjusted.

Swamp biomes generate a lot of clay now. I think.

I do not like toggling options. (unless it is part of graphics/video settings/sound etc.) but having a different mode is plausible (like a true adventure mode)
