So I've just joined (LevusAnderson, 'ere.) and what do I find?

A realistic, living world where you can practically live like a Sim from the Sims series as you laze around your apartment/ go to the military base and do research on biological agents/ head to the 'entertainment' district, if you know what I mean...

posted a message on Since when is minecraft a constant onslaught of zombies?
    Quote from Mobax

It seems that a lot of players have missed the point that night in Minecraft was and is supposed to be a dangerous time. I believe it is the intention of Mojang that you should not go out to patch up a creeper blast at night time. For casual players who don't want any zombie hordes, DON'T go out at night! The zombies don't multiply if you don't engage them, they only have a chance to spawn more if you strike them. I would think casual players would be even more inclined to sleep at night and avoid the whole thing. Again this is just my opinion, I don't know what Jeb, Dinnerbone and the others think, but I think they have always wanted Minecraft to be a challenging game, especially at night. Think about it, the game has no introduction or tutorial mode. It starts you alone in a world with no shelter, and only 15 minutes before enemies start spawning. That does not sound like a game that is designed to be casually played with great success. But Minecraft comes with peaceful and creative settings which do allow for casual playing. So for all the people saying I've missed the point about zombie hordes and their spawning in ability, perhaps you've missed Mojang's point of putting in peaceful and creative modes. Again just my opinion.

That being said, I can see the point, that on easy difficulty zombies should not have their spawn in ability. Not because nights are dangerous, that is a foundation of Minecraft, but so caving is not so difficult on easy mode. I am certainly not against that, as a change to easy mode would have no effect on anyone who chooses to play on normal or higher.

Problem: Once you normalize the learning curve such that it is possible for a total newbie to sneak out just to patch up the Creeper hold in his house, it is rather rude to suddenly impose "Normal-"playerbase standards on the grandmother/ 6 year old/ casual gamer by just telling them to sleep in a cot. (Not to mention it, but this is also an impossible task on massive servers with hundreds of players running about. As long as that one punk is running about in his house, it is nigh impossible to fast-forward the game to morning- leaving us to conclude with being forced to wait out the night. Spiders ascending windows also, according to a previous poster [Apologies for forgetting your name], disrupt the sleep process with the "There are monsters outside" prompt.)

Another problem lies in that Peaceful mode makes it nigh impossible to obtain certain items: On peaceful, green slimes will despawn under the current spawning mechanics. By just shrugging casual gamers to "Play on peaceful," this argument leaves some rather gaping shortages in slimes and Ender Pearls used not only in Vanilla reactions but also in other mods. There are those who do not want to be forced to "cheat" on Creative mode just to finish that sticky piston's construction, we must remember. As such, it is preposterous to introduce a massive, sudden leap in difficulty between Peaceful and "Easy" when multiplying zombie hordes and such are more characteristic of a "Normal" difficulty.

With my last point above, I can at least agree with you that Easy mode should have the zombies nerfed of all replication ability, though. Thank you for listening.

What interests you to apply for membership?
I am interested in roleplaying in some sort of Central Asian (Scythian) town as a herder / carpenter / etcetera.
Have you read the rules thoroughly?
    Silk road. Is that enough?
Have you ever been banned from a Minecraft server in the past? If so, why?
    No.
Would you ever donate to Bellum Omnium?
    Possibly...
Is there anything else you'd like to let me know?
I cannot quite think of anything else to say at this point other than two words: Let's play.

You have missed the point ENTIRELY!

I second this. What we are upset about is the fact that zombie hordes are uniform in quantity across all non-peaceful difficulties. Rather than making it like this:

Easy: No zombie hordes or reinforcements
Normal: Limited zombie hordes with limited/ no reinforcement capabilities
Hard: The current state of zombie apocalypses.

The 1.6.2 update made it such that people only interested in relaxed, limited combat on Easy difficulty with intentions to complete a house 24/7 can no longer do so without being raped by ten or so zombies. To summarize the words of previous posters in the earliest pages, I must pose this question: Why are there no direct addresses to the argument that there can be variations in the current zombie system across all three difficulties? Proponents of the current system seem to ignore (Or forget, at least.) the difficulty setting in the game...

If you want to be able to patch a creeper hole at night with only sporadic zombies coming at you, the developers should make it such that Easy will be the perfect match. The current system of zombie generation should be present only in Hard and (To a somewhat dilute extend) Normal difficulties.

    Server Application:
*Note* The staff has every right to deny applications based on quality.

    Minecraft IGN: LevusAnderson
Age: I am eighteen years of age.
Roleplaying Experience: I have heavy roleplay experience from the nine years or so I have spent on the Internet. (Yes, I have roleplayed shabbily when I was ten.) My current addictions are NationStates and Minecraft roleplaying.

    Character Application:
    Can't think of a name? http://www.fantasynamegen.com/
Rules - All fields are necessary. Minimum 3 Strengths and Weaknesses. A new application must be submitted per character.
*NOTICE* As of this moment, races have no effect on gameplay. This will change.

    Name: Arren Silversmith
    Age: 22
    Race: Human
Strengths: Proficient knowledge of carpentry, masonry and fundamental forgery enables this human engineer to fabricate working components of watermills- for instance- or other medieval machines used for grinding grains, herbs and spices. On a more mundane level, fabrication of thatch-and-timber shacks is hardly cumbersome, although it may be time-consuming for Arren as with any other human homemaker.
Weaknesses: Arren Silversmith, having stayed within or very near settlements for most of his life, lacks sufficient combat skill to ward off even the commonest thugs with a crystalline knife. Furthermore, due to Silversmith's somewhat pampered life, he is not agriculturally-inclined enough to sustain his own farm and thus relies on the town market for his sustenance.

posted a message on Once more in search of a roleplay server. This time, with Hexxit.
(( Reposted in the correct forum. ))

I am rather enamored with being able to mix-and-match entirely novel weapons out of Hexxit's weapons design system (Yay! Now I can have that iron-bladed rapier with a gold crossguard and diamond pommel!) and am absolutely fascinated with the increased variety in dungeons provided by Hexxit's developers. However, something is lacking out here....

I cannot find a Hexxit server of the following parameters:

    - I want a server with a moderate roleplay vigor: Neither too superficial so that noobs could spam "I s1ixe 0r **** 0f" while wearing Creeper suits in a medieval town; nor so stilted like the few hardcore servers which require a book's worth of a character application on top of overwhelming, oftentimes repetitive regulations which patronize the roleplayer or even the moderators. The perfect server is along the lines of the (Now shutdown) Dragonsreach Server here: http://www.minecraft...buffs-included/

    - With reasonable limitations (See the Dragonsreach Link for what I would want), I would like PVP to be enabled.

    - If there is a starter town, I do not want it to be the focus of the roleplay: Having been on a few servers where the players only lull around the spawn town between bouts of mining out that exhausted ravine, my experience shows me that roleplay tends to stagnate and deteriorate along the lines of the Roman Empire ("Drop Parties" which violate the roleplay atmosphere, players ing about their real-life problems in supposedly "IC" channels, etc.) while faction leaders seal themselves away in decadent castles. I want there to be a need to travel between towns in times of distress or commerce, and to be able to experience something new every time my lizardman visits a new village.

    - If your server has the Heroes plugin, do not even bother to invite me in. For one, hardcoded classes and ranks assume that the player is too immature to reasonably grow their character between the bounds of Mary Sues and Supermen. For another, I hate the idea of being limited to an axe without building rights if my carpenter character needs both to strike a middleground between woodcutter and woodcrafter.

    - I want the server to be active! Preferably between four to eight or nine people online at any average time

Apologies if I am seen as demanding, but roleplayers are supposed to want a great time as do everyone else! Thank you for reading, and please do not be shy! ^^

What might be considered a realistic age for a partially-experienced biomedical engineer? I am struggling between an individual born in 2017 who would end up at an age of 48 years.... Or a more agile youth born in 2026 who would be extraordinarily unlikely to obtain enough experience to effectively "be" an engineer. I ask as I fill out my application, lads.
