I wonder if theres any chance they could make the charcol and coal actually different, like with separate images... especially if they aren't going to make charcol blocks too...

Oh well. I'm excited to see what coal blocks do, not particularly happy about the armor and saddles being something you have to find but Eh.

Though I do wish that the hay block would be a wheat storage block as well as it's own block, it would make it more useful, being that horses are going to be rare as hell.

Edit: Oh and please don't ever compare saddles to record disks... Because you can make disks if you can trap a skelly and a creeper... They are really more of a "rare drop" than a "dungeon only" item... I really hope now that the saddles and armors aren't craftable that they will be a rare drop from the undead horses. Cus that would be tits.

Oh, and the bone meal changes are way better this time, Thanks guys. I think the random nature of the trees growing with bone meal is a good change with in my short bit of testing it taking 3-7 meal for a tree to grow. It's MUUUUCH better that crops now only take 2 for potatoes and wheat and 3 for carrots. I think the changes make sense, even though I liked bone meal how it was, this is an ok way to nerf it a little but not make it totally crazy like the 7 per crop business.

You don't like something so it's bad game design? Ok, I see your logic. Well, as it happens I do like this change so it must be good game design.

Seriously though people, the nerf was kinda needed. Those that don't like it have just gotten to used to having it easy, you need to learn how to play the game for yourselves again instead of practically having everything handed to you. As it stands I can usually have enough bonemeal to insta-grow enough crops that I will never go hungry again, by the end of the first night. That doesn't strike people as being a little bit easy in a survival game?

They've already made skellies harder to kill and more intelligent for balance and to make it more survival-y, making resources useless is not how you make a game more of a survival game, it's how you make a game more of an inventory management game. For me it's less about the cost and more about the irritation. 7 clicks for one thing of wheat to grow is kinda stupid when it takes only 2 for a -tree- that will have 5+ chunks of wood, 2 or more saplings and maybe even an apple. I can get behind 2 meal for a tree but it just seems inane to put 7 clicks for wheat. Who would actually bother? It makes bones like zombie meat.

Personally if they want to make it take more bone meal I think it should be a percentage type thing, bone meal has a 50% chance of instantly growing a plant or something like that. I still don't like the idea but it's better than 21 clicks for one piece of bread.

I'm torn on the bonemeal thing... I like being able to pause in the middle of a plan's growth cycle and then actually be able to look at the plant as a texture pack maker... but as a player I'm very concerned. Yea, it seems like you can really rock out with bone meal atm, but I don't know that wheat will be even close to worth trying to grow. I think that might make it a little too hard when starting a new map... But I never thought the game needed to be harder.

I never like it when the people who always shout "harder" get their way because they will never be satisfied with how hard the game is. They will always want it harder no matter how hard it gets. But that's my two cents.

Edit: So I'm really not happy about the bonemeal thing now... being that it takes 7 to grow any edible crop, wheat, potatoes and carrots. I guess I was just blindly hoping that all crops would grow one bonemeal per growth stage. If we add in a more concentrated fertilizer I'll be less annoyed but right now I already have stacks and stacks of bones that I don't use, and now I'm even less likely to use them and more likely to just throw them away. Useful items turned into trash *sigh*

I have seen several mentions of half slabs in the last 3 pages... My suggestion of being able to mix half slabs, The suggestion of making red-stone wiring a half slab (which I imagine would require my suggestion to be able to work because otherwise it wouldn't save any space) And the addition of wool halfslabs. Mayhaps we need a half slab thread?
