posted a message on What Blocks (Or Features) Do You Feel Are Missing
Ah, I had forgotten about them.

It's odd that both stone and wooden slabs don't craft into something nice and unique even though quartz and sandstone slabs can. Never can have too many decorative blocks.

posted a message on What Blocks (Or Features) Do You Feel Are Missing
Out of curiosity, what sort of blocks do you feel (or you noticed that others feel) the game really ought to have, but doesn't.

    • Colored glass has been a subject of conversation since April 1st.
    • Before then, people wanted colored bricks which seem like they ought to be a thing as well, especially since the advent of stained clay.
    • I've heard many people complain about the inability to use different kinds of wood to create different colored wooden products. (IE: Jungle, birch, spruce, and oak doors/ladders/etc.)
    • Similarly, customizable/dye-able beds were once something people complained about.

I'll add to that list, a unique orange sand for the new mesa biomes. Beach sand doesn't fit well with them.

(Personally, I'm not a fan of colored glass, both because it's apparently technically difficult, and because the point of glass is largely to be seen through, but I'll admit that it is coherent within game-logic and people have asked for it.)

    Quote from oCrapaCreeper

Unless there's a documented list by Mojang, or official word, there were never "rules" to begin with.

Prior to the release of horses, everything kind of fit together. Horses deviate from previously established conventions. To say otherwise is akin to saying that horses have always been in Minecraft, which, well... you go on thinking that.

The word you're looking for is "excluding," and you've answered your own question. You're not premium.

posted a message on 1.6 Red Dragon
What if you had to build a structure, a dragon rosot or something like that, (probably a large block-ring on the ground filled with hay or something?) and that once the game detected this structure a dragon might come and rest for a spell. When it takes off it might drop a scale or something like that. If you attacked it while it was sleeping it would probably blow up everything you own and then fly away. Dragons aren't meant to be trifled with. Not a well developed idea, but you guys seem to be arguing for or against an idea you haven't even put any thought into yet.

Start with a purpose and work backwards to discover a fun way to implement everything.

The beacon really ought to be a fountain where you can replenish an item to apply these buffs when you need them.

posted a message on My two cents about the Zombie Deal
I've always entertained the idea of one day modding Zombies to wear different shirts based on unique characteristics. The regular guys rock teal, but purple guys could be violently toxic to the touch, requiring tools to put down safely, redshirts could be the social zombies, and yellow ones could be faster, or whatever.

posted a message on So What Do You Think of the New "More Sociable" Zombies?
With regards to sociable zombies. I've heard people suggest that when the feature is more finalized it should be thrown to a harder difficulty mode, but what about if it was reserved for an event. Like some kind of Night of the Living Dead every in game month. They could organize a few more little minievents with the coming of the calender. Winter Solstice Short Fuse Creepers, and The Day the Ghasts Invaded or something.

If the butcher trades arent changed there isn't really any point in making them non-craftable. In a couple ways its even easier to trade for them than craft. With the current recipe you need leather and iron, which means farming wheat, cows and digging. With villagers, aside from the initial investment in raw pork and steak to create the vendor (which admitedly varies based on player luck) you only need logs.

For me the discussion is really just academic. If they are craftable fine, if they aren't I'll just install the bukkit plugin that changes it.

I honestly think that leashes are going to change the game FAR more than horses.

I don't know, I feel like trading for them sounds like more work, but I enjoy spelunking so I'd probably find them primarily through dungeons anyway. Honestly I haven't used villager to trade since that feature came out even though (I think) it opens up the potential for pre-nether Glowstone, among other things.

It's just nice for some things remain exclusive to dungeons so that there are nice finds to find. Otherwise all dungeon crawlers have to forward to is stale bread.

Just reroll your butcher until you get one with cooked porkchops or steak as the refresh. Its not like its hard to get stacks and stacks of emeralds with enough charcoal.

Heck with hoppers fully automating your charcoal maker its even easier.

Good, so the clever kids get their stacks of saddles, and the whiners cry about all the toys they aren't being given for free. I don't see what the problem is.

You can get saddles from butchers currently, and so far nobody has said this will change. So as it stands now saddles are infinite and trivial to obtain.

Heaven forbid you have to actually craft something in minecraft.

Right, but you've got to hope for a favorable trade, or else you'll be spending too many precious emeralds.

In Minecraft there are certain resources that are renewable. If a product is made out of those renewable resources, you only need one in order to have infinite. Infinite saddles is uncool, therefore saddles must be dungeon loot. It's as simple as that.
