I don't get it. Minecraft WAS supposed to be Medieval castles-and-knights, middle ages theme. Fireworks were not around 1500 years ago. Minecraft is just not what it used to be. The only things I see that are good in this update are the bug-fixes, Enchanting Books, and the new Christmas texture for chests.
Please do not keep the fireworks Jeb, they don't fit the Minecraft style!!!

The first fireworks were invented in ancient China 1400 years ago. Close enough. -
Nov 25, 2012LtKernelPanic posted a message on Minecon 2012 Capes Are Out!The whining is strong in this thread already. Life isn't always fair and you can't always get what you want. Capes are a exclusive bonus for those who attend minecon and likely always will be. Trust me they don't get you any special treatment.Posted in: News

No kidding. People (myself included) didn't refer to it as "Linecon" for s and giggles.
BTW along with the family orientated party the first night there was an adults only "Into The Nether" party last year too on the second night. It wasn't that great honestly. As other posters said there were a lot of adults there too and no offense to any kids here there are times when we just don't a bunch of kids around. Some day you'll understand. -

This has been answered at least 6 times so far. I'll leave finding the answer as an exercise for you. -
Jun 7, 2012LtKernelPanic posted a message on Snapshot 12w23b Ready For TestingI'm glad they made the XP leveling (at least somewhat) exponential again and nerfed the XP drops from ores. The old way was insane getting to level 50 without a grinder but then they took it to the opposite extreme in the previous snapshot.Posted in: News
Quote from Zeemvel- It now takes 825 Experience to reach level 30.
In 1.2.5 it takes 4625 XP to reach level 50. When they changed the max level to 30 it dropepd to be linear. It took 17XP per level from what I read meaning it took 510 XP to hit 30. -
Apr 30, 2012LtKernelPanic posted a message on Change Your Minecraft Name? Possibly In The FuturePosted in: NewsQuote from chez911
But that is your problem you didn't take action to find out, you should of at least tried to acknowledge the possibility. Also, if it was free to sign up, you could just easily change your name whenever, making your username feel useless. Unless it's once per month or something.
That's great and all but when I bought minecraft well over a year ago there was NOTHING that said your minecraft.net name would be your in game name or I would have used something other than my real name. I've had a couple people approach me about doing an LP but I've declined each time because quite frankly I don't want my real name plastered everywhere. Personally I welcome the ability to change it in the future even if there is a small fee to do so. Sure I could register a new account with the name I'd change it to but then I'd lose my cool minecon cape. -

So they get nearly a 10K wish, ffs, i havent had 10K of stuff i want in my 14 years, probably around 1K
Wow. You do know Make Wish grants seriously and terminally ill kids wishes. Apparently you also weren't there to see the young man's mother crying her eyes out when they invited him up on stage to meet Notch, the Curse rep, and Minecraft Chick to get a special Minecraft themed XBox 360. In fact I don't think there was a dry eye in the convention hall during that. Also I doubt the cost was close anywhere near 10k. Hotel for two of us was ~$350 and meals vary. I would be shocked if Mandalay Bay didn't comp their whole visit and the Mojang crew didn't provide them both with tickets. Maybe you should make sure you know what the hell you're talking about before spouting your stupidity for all to see.

That is easily fixed by assigning a unique ID that's tied to the account that never changes. The ID gets banned not the username.

You're right and I have fought them in a similar way, albeit with armor, to what you described. It was fun to take them on but I need at least 10 beacons for my project and the novelty of having a royal rumble wears off quick after the first couple.

That's not even close to being right.
Slimes spawn below level 40 in certain chunks based on the world's seed and the slime spawning algorithm. The reason you see slimes all over on the default super flat world is because the surface of the world is at like y:3 and if you're in or near a slime chunk there is no natural terrain to stop or slow them from spawning. As of 1.4 they can also spawn in swamp biomes just like any hostile mob where light levels are 7 or less (including the surface at night) between levels 51 and 69.
I would use the second link in the post above to make sure you're actually in a slime chunk (which it sounds like you are). If it is indeed a slime chunk you need to make sure the floor of your spawning area is at y:40 or below. Lighting up caves especially within 120-130 blocks of the area will help increase slime spawns since other hostile mobs won't be able to spawn. Put torches on the walls or jack-o-lanterns in the floor to stop other hostile mobs from spawning. Do not use glowstone in the floor as the game treats it the same way as glass and mobs won't spawn on it. With the exception of levels 51-69 in a swamp biome slimes in a slime chunk will spawn at any light level below level 40. Try to avoid putting torches on the floor unless absolutely needed as that takes up an available spawning area.
Also make sure you're not within 24 blocks of the spawning area because mobs won't spawn within 24 blocks of a player. You will need to be 128 blocks for them to spawn (just like any other type of mob). Unlike other mobs that will randomly despawn if a player is not within 32 blocks slimes will not unless you go outside that 128 block limit. One last thing is you need to have a three block high room to achieve maximum spawn rates since the biggest slimes are 2.6 blocks tall.

Australia would be nice but the problem is is it's ungodly expensive for about 90% of the world to travel to (which I know the converse holds true for Australians) but mojang is going to put it where it's accessible to the most people which pretty much means North America (US/Canada) or one of the more populous counties in Europe.
I'm curious how you came to those numbers. I live in the midwest and flying out of my podunk hometown airport with its whole two commercial flights a day (where airfare at the minimum is usually $75-150 more expensive *each* way) I did the whole trip for~$800 including minecon ticket and meals. I did split the cost of the hotel with a friend which saved me $100.
Not officially. There was an impromptu gathering in a park in Bellevue, Washington after a blog post by Notch where around 80 people IIRC gathered for the afternoon. The first official Minecon was at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas last year.

DIM-1 is the nether.
DIM1 is the end.
Stupid naming convention I know.
