OVERVIEW
Torches are no longer crafted as lit torches, but as unlit torches, so they will need to be lit with some sort of igniter first before it can be used as a light source. They are given lifespans so they become single-use torches and will eventually burn out. Also, they will revert to unlit torches when they come into contact with water.
Mob behavior is also slightly modified to make them interact with the torches. Villagers will kill the village torches during the day and ignite them again at night. Zombies and skeletons may occasionally attempt to take out lit torches as well.
DETAILS
Details of the mod can be found in the new wiki: http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods/unlittorch/pages/wiki/
Not even a week after putting up the wiki, Curseforge made the time I spent on it a total waste when they updated their site and removed the wiki feature (deleting my work in the process).
MOD SPOTLIGHTS
These are outdated but still give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from the mod. Anyway, thanks for these!
Don't really understand what he's saying here, but it seems to cover a lot of stuff

Not only does this mod have a crash problem with Thermal Dynamics (as documented by Robijnvogel above), it also has a huge issue with Minefactory Reloaded which prevents harvesters and fruit pickers from working with non-vanilla items (berry bushes from Natura or fruit trees from Harvestcraft.)
Since it seems that this mod is abandoned at 2.2.3, I'd advise not using it for any modpacks.

Color me curious: why are you still looking? It seems like you got a variety of offers, all seemingly well below your maximum. If they weren't meeting your needs, you might want to consider explaining why, so that future offerings can be better tailored to your specifications.
(I am not a hosting company, just spend a lot of time in here reading.)

He's just voicing opinions much as you are, filled with mistakes and bad assumptions JUST LIKE YOU are.
She didn't say she's working on the update - she said it's slow going. And what "many other mods" are you referring to I wonder. Most mods worth playing have updated to 1.5 and did so long ago.
Many of us love(d) RP, but she made choices that have obviously not worked for the better of the community that supported her. She refuses to open her code, she refuses to work with others, and we waited patiently with no news. Naturally people are going to abandon RP. We all know it's her mod, but we don't have to support her way of development that leaves much to be desired in just about every aspect.

Be Respectful – Everything below generally falls under this rule. If you are respectful to staff and other players, adding to the environment, then you will undoubtedly enjoy being a part of MKR.
No Griefing – This is our main rule and we’re serious about it. We’ve had one incident resulting in one ban in all the time we’ve been running, and we’d like to keep it that way. Griefing includes Killing, Stealing, Exploiting, or Destroying. As a general rule, if it doesn’t belong to you, you should probably leave it alone.
Maintain Maturity – everyone is expected to act maturely. We have no age restrictions and we have some minors in our group, so while we’re all here to have fun, we expect people to act maturely and generally “keep it clean” while with us. We will tolerate zero abusive, racist, or disruptive behavior.
Obey Staff – Our staff isn’t going to spend a lot of time telling you what to do, but if you disobey them, you’re not going to be staying with us very long. Please do not ask to join our staff; if we want you, we will ask you. All current staff has come from our player base.
There is no whitelist for the public server, but until you submit an application and get accepted on our forum, you will not be able to download the client, and new players will not be able to do anything more than explore the world of the Spawn Tower until their application is accepted by one of our staff.

Would love to get some kind of estimate on when we could expect 1.4.6 if possible. Not rushing or demanding, simply trying to plan ahead.
