yeah if your playing on a server it could be because of some sort of permissions problem you might have somehow gotten into god mode. if your on single player you might want to check you settings and whatnot

yep that happens, but i dont think it will speed up the growth rate, even though it looks like its fully grown i think if you break the melon or pumpkin it will still be in the early stage growth depending on its stage when you place it

if it says java isnt responding then make sure your client version is compatible with what your running. also make sure your operating system is capable of it. your gonna need to check your windows version (unless your usin mac then i got no clue lol) if its 32 bit windows then get the 32 bit java same for 64 bit. other than that make sure that the version of java your using is compatible with the version of mc. i think its 1.6.4 where the line for java 7 runs. after that you for for 1.7 etc you would need java 8. after you check all of that then you might want to make sure that the ram usage is correct depending on what version of java your running. but also, the crash reports re the important thing we need to see those

ummm then im not sure, unless its a bug with the new update, best thing would be to see if other people are having this problem, try looking it up on reddit. if it is a bug then most likely theyll be putting out a patch if the problem comes up for enough people. unfortunatly im a pc minecrafter and when i did play it on console i bout a digital copy not a hard disk. sorry

    posted a message on EULA

it depends if thier ranking up from gameplay time or is there ranking up from donations. if its from playtime then its perfectly understandable, if its through donations then its breaking EULA. its not "illegal" but it serverly frowned upon. if it was illegal then the servers that got shut down by eula would be accompanied by the owners going to jail.

The Problem is as of yet, not solved :(

maybe if you tried answering some of the questions, what version of mc are you running, what version are you trying to connect to, what version of java are you using 7 or 8 32 bit or 64 bit. what launcher are you using, the curse launcher, the default launcher, atl, ftb, or technic, or even the new microsoft launcher, other than that what about your firewalls and your network settings, are you using a valid account on a valid launcher? there has been questions asked that you dont provide answers to, you gotta help us help you, instead of complaiing that its not resolved you can get more proactive in helping people help you. but thats just me. do what you please in the end, at least i can connect. also are you even able to connect to the servers? like is it whitelisted, or are you possibly banned

But you have to receive damage in order for Thorns to work, and the damage that Thorns deals is very low, not even as much as a wooden sword at the high end, only a punch at the low end. Really, it is just about the most useless enchantment I can think of; the durability of even diamond armor is pathetic enough already (it already loses multiple points per hit depending on how much damage you get, and that is across four pieces; just watch a PvP match some time and see how fast it breaks, even with Unbreaking (which is nearly useless, even if you put on something like Unbreaking 1000), while diamond swords without Unbreaking survive the match with hardly any durability loss). Also, in older versions the cost, particularly the repair cost, is just obscene.

Not only that, it actually takes away FOUR points of durability when it deals damage - and two otherwise; yes, it takes away durability even when it has no effect!

Now you see why I did this (that's for all pieces and matches the durability of tools as iron does; why does each piece of armor have a different durability when tools are all the same? Durability loss is also always one point per hit no matter the damage source):

I also did this to diamond armor; 1,500 durability for all pieces, matching the difference between iron and diamond tools; that said, I also changed the protection points so you get 50% more damage in full armor (70% damage reduction; iron and other armor is still the same), thus enchantments are more necessary; with full armor and Protection IV x 2 you get an average 79% damage reduction, still slightly less than vanilla diamond armor. Also, if you put Thorns III on amethyst armor it costs an insane 49 levels to repair, so yeah, armor = RIP. Sure, you no longer pay for enchantments (except when combining) or durability in 1.8 but the cost increases exponentially no matter what.

Because of the last, you also do not want to combine items (including books) to get higher level enchantments, unless it is an item that is rarely used, such as the Silk Touch pickaxe I use to mine Ender chests. Making a Fortune III pickaxe this way may also be practical as 1,562 diamond ore (without Unbreaking) is a lot of diamonds.

Note: I've been told that in the console edition renaming does not stop the cost from increasing, so the same rules as in 1.8 apply, even more because of the costs for the number of enchantments and durability restored, though it only increases by 2 per anvil operation (see here for the pre-1.8 anvil mechanics, which also apply to the console edition, except for the renaming).

how does any of that matter, your comparing modded mc to vanilla values, and then you go further stating that you changed not only the durability stats of the vanilla items but also the values on the enchantments. everything your saying is irrelevant considering your not useing normal basic vanilla stats on any of it. and please dont quote me to try to argue a point when your not even talking about the same circumstances, if we all did that its not that hard to change thorns to 0 durability taken etc. its pointless to even try. thorns in and of itself takes extra durability because of the damage taken from the hit, and the damage from armor itself essentially "attacking" the mob and taking durability loss from that. please dont bring things that youve done to change the game to argue a point that doesnt even count. thank

    you

also the armor and tools all have different durabilities depending on how much of a material it takes to make them and the lvl of the material used. there not all the same

posted a message on Does a server need a nice spawn for you to want to play on it?

for me its mostly dependent on what kinda server your going for. a larger one with multiple modes and activities should have something that shows some work and care went into it. its its something like a small vanilla server i think its either best to go with a simple spawn, one the players build or just an area in a nice looking area of the server. doesn't have to be fancy, but functional is always good

posted a message on Tick Lag in an Offline Game after TU23?
    Quote from piekster78»

I am experiencing some pretty intense tick lag on my main world after a recent update. My frame rate seems to be fine, its world objects that are lagging (i.e. sun/moon, mobs) terribly. Mined, floating blocks (chopped tree blocks, mined stone blocks) are floating halfway in the ground before I pick them up instead of in the lowest air block, like they used to.

It isn't game breaking, necessarily, but horses are virtually unridable, weapons "glitch" through hostile mobs. Everything running on game ticks (sheep wool growth, crop growth, day length, redstone ticks) takes almost twice as long as it should. Minecart rail networks are completely unridable.

The game lags so badly while riding a cart that it feels like the game is going to crash.

My frame rate, however, is fine.

I noticed the tick lag for sure right after I downloaded TU 23. Its possible TU 22 caused it, as I was working mostly underground at the time, so I wasn't paying attention to the sun/moon, mobs, and other tick related things . I definitely wasn't experiencing any type of lag prior to that, and I didn't build anything in the interim time that should have cause any significant lag.

Below are steps I took to try to alleviate the lag, with no result. All things I disabled or destroyed were build prior to the start of the lag, and while some of them did cause a bit of frame rate lag, I never experienced tick lag with them prior to TU 22 or 23:

    1. removed series of underground lava falls and lava lakes I had built. Also removed three water fountains in a large castle I built. There is now no added lava or water anywhere in the world that wasn't there at world generation.

    2. Disabled all redstone contraptions, including large item sorter, dropper based item elevator, automatic melon/pumpkin farm, automatic sugar cane farm. All redstone is still in place, but no signals can be passed, so there should not be any light updates.

    3. Completely removed a very inefficient overworld gold farm, which used 60 portals in an enclosed box. (no loss here, really. It was actually faster to just go mine gold)

    4. Disabled automatic chicken cooker (pretty useless in mc360 anyway, because the chicken population cap is so low)

    5. killed off all fenced in, domestic mobs, except for 6 horses, 2 cats, and 4 dogs (I had previously maintained them at or near the domestic mob cap).

As I said, all of these things were running with no game lag at all prior to TU 22 and 23. Disabling/destroying everything on this list had absolutely no effect on the tick lag. Also, clouds and void fog are off.

It there anything else in the game that causes tick lag? Is there a "build limit" in mc360 where you can only build so many structures on a given world before the cpu/ram just can't handle it anymore. I do have quite a bit of structures built up, but honestly, its probably not much more than what's on the tutorial world, its just more concentrated in a couple of areas.

Also, moving around the world doesn't seem to have an effect either, so whatever the cause is isn't unloading when I move around.

The weirdest thing about the minecart lag is that it is absolutely horrible when travelling north and east, but not that bad when travelling south and west. I understand that some track builds have to be oriented in certain directions due to game coding. Is this also an artifact of the way tracks are coded?

Anyway, any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning towards abandoning this world and starting over, but I'd really like to salvage this world if I could because:

    1. It took me months to build up the amount of resources I have, and I don't fancy starting from scratch.

    2. I have several unfinished projects that I'd hate to leave behind

    3. Starting over means I'd probably stop playing at least until the next big update. If they come out with new biomes, I'd be really pissed if I got a few weeks into a new world, only to have to start all over again.

backup your save file for the world (its possible even on console) and just redownload the game see it that works. if not you might want to check the xbox threads see if anyone else is having the issue

Why does Thorns reduce the armor's durability?

because it doubles the damage the armor takes as opposed to not having it. im assuming its put into the game because thorns without a drawback would be a little op

posted a message on How high does a single block of TNT launch a player vertically?
    Quote from jesseb342»

I have a monster spawner built 148 blocks above ground with a single column of ladders going all the way up. Needless to say, it takes forever to get to the top. I have an iron farm so I can make pistons, but I don't have any slime balls yet, so sticky pistons are out. Almost all elevator designs I've seen use sticky pistons. even the ones that don't still need at least one repeater per level (148) and I don't have near that much redstone yet.

So given all this, I'm thinking that some kind of simple TNT elevator is a good solution. I'll have to figure out the logistics, I just need the height number.

how would you keep the tnt from causing you damage? other than that have you tried a simple water elevator, there typically a bit faster than ladders. other than that have you considerd moving the farm underground, put it in a 9x9x7 room with a watervater taking them up to a drop damage thatll knock em down almost dead
