Back story(1-3 paragraphs): John grew up in a small mining 'factory town' if you will. He grew up with 5 brothers and sisters. The rule of the town was age 10 learn how to mine. Age 11 start seeing first hand, the mine. Age 12 spend the rest of your life working in the mine. John knew this and was somewhat upset. He wasn't very strong, at least compared tot he other boys his age. He preferred to read over working. He was smarter then the other boys so when he got a chore to do he'd trick another kid to do it for him. Not to say he was lazy, he just didn't think some work he should have to do. Due to his being smarter and not as strong, he was made fun of. He would of cared but he took arrogance in the fact that he was smarter. and then he turned 12.
When he was 12, he knew he wasn't going to be able to talk his way out of the mine so in he went. He walked into the mine with his father one day and some kids, bullying John, started prodding him with pickaxes. He tried to ignore them and couldn't, he swung back at them, missed and hit the rock wall. A rumbling sound startled everyone and then rocks fell on the kids who were prodding him. No one else saw him swing the pickaxe but him. He stood there, stupefied. After this day, he never communicated with anyone unless he had to and was almost never outside unless heading to the mine. This went on until he was 20.
One day as he was 20. He walked into the mine, just another average day. He was mining and he noticed his father had been coughing a lot lately and was worrying about him. Then a couple days later his father couldn't go to the mine because he couldn't breathe well. John knew what his father had, but knew he couldn't stop it so kept to himself. A week later his father died of 'black lung'. This completely crushed John and one day he just packed up and left. No goodbye's. He did however leave a note saying how he didn't mean to kill those kids. He's been away from home for 2 years now using his studies as a child and now for survival. I slowly submerge myself into the water losing hope , losing breath. The water felt quite nice actualy, i never like it, but this time it felt nice. It is properly because i was dead. When i woke up, many people were staring at me, some had yellow eyes shaped like cats and others had lizard eyes. they were all creatures i never saw before. And it looked like i was the stranger. Those people that i now know where people, saved my life. I was leaving with a coven under the water. I never knew people could live under the flood.
After many years of studying the different arts that they taught me, i was finaly ready to return home. Using some kind of helmet they desisgn to breath under water, i swam back to my home island where i was happy to return to. That was until i realized those many years, were actuly 40 years. i was now 67. I knew my parents would be dead.
