Minecraft is now spawning a ridiculous amount of wolves. I mean, packs and packs of them, in every chunk. They can eat all your sheep through fences, even in large pens where the sheep are in the center, not near the fence. And on our most recent TU 16 seed, the amount of sheep went quickly to almost none. You have to go very far to find one the wolves haven't found. More wolves are spawning than despawning. After a couple evenings play, 2 people on multiplayer, wolves are now found 6-12 together in the same place! Wherever you go that sheep could possibly spawn, there are many wolves, and no sheep can survive. Minecraft unplayable now.
I'm all for as large a villager cap as can be managed on the xbox. Its great to grow and develop villages in minecraft. One of the most interesting and challenging aspects of minecraft, for us, is managing villages. We currently are playing on a seed with five villages, and are gradually developing the whole map. We've learned how to protect the villages with fencing and light, and it is always an interesting puzzle to figure out how to restrict their access to caves and dangers, while letting them roam around as much as possible. We've managed to get all five villages in a thriving state, with three of them so far spawning golems, two with two golems! We've built a railroad system to connect the villages, and are gradually building our own houses in each one, plus more houses for the villagers. It's very interesting to create different village designs out of nearby resources, while preserving and improving the 'old town' original structures. Landscaping, fountain and park building, it's an endlessly interesting experience. We've just recently discovered how this aspect of the game creates an ongoing playability in minecraft. Very creative and, actually, one of the few video games where you can play at being a 'helper', a builder, and making the villagers 'lives' and environments cooler and safer is a unique experience in gaming. It is a survival game, but when you try to help villagers survive also, it becomes all the more interesting.
While it would be great to have villager trading and more interactivity, if that is a problem with increasing the villager cap (which I am very much FOR), couldn't it be done where only a certain percentage of villagers are traders? That would be more 'realistic' anyway. Any little tweaks in the AI experience would be great too. It's fun to have them roaming around and 'congregating' suspiciously ;-) in various places... And watching you build, and coming into your house in the middle of the night to stare at you ;-) of course... But if a little more interactivity could be introduced, that would be cool also.
I can't wait to dig into these ideas, thanks guys, no way to know if I can make sense of it till I try... ;-) Meanwhile I did find this solution which is really very cool. The go-forward button block has to be moved or rewired slightly to work on my Xbox (maybe because of a Redstone update?) but it's a good solution and not too complicated for this redstone noob... I used it for my middle village, and it's nice and compact and with different materials fits well for the village. It's outside the gates so hopefully the creepers won't blow it up too often!
Now I'm going to work on a station which will use part of this idea to choose to branch off to another village, coming from either direction. Oh, wait, it will be three directions, if you're coming from the branch-off village...
Great possibilities here -- I didn't realize that you could do track-switching, and actually make the track curve toward different sides of a T intersection! Almost like a train set.... :-)
