posted a message on You just fell in lava and died. What do you do?

Just before I begin playing MC, I

    1. Drag the current copy (right-click-drag) of the world I plan to play (the world as it was before my last exploration) from the Desktop to C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\TempStorage (I created this directory).

    2. Drag a copy (right-click-copy) of the world I plan to play (the current world as it exists now) from C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\saves to my Desktop (I have 2 emergency backups should I fall into lava),

    3. Check and delete anything found in C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\crash-reports.

    4. Check and delete everything with a date (YYYY-MM-DD-#.log.gz) found in C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\logs

    5. Open Minecraft and explorer/build to my heart's content knowing that anything catastrophic can easily be undone!!!

Had you done that you could have restored (copied what is on the desktop) to C:\UserName\AppData\Roaming\minecraft\saves and lost nothing except the time it took you to fall into the lava,

I did not read 6 pages of replies, if a duplicate I apologize.

posted a message on WorldEdit - Do really big things in-game! In-game map editor and more

You can right-click (wooden axe) one extreme; left-click the opposite extreme (of the Savanna); then //setbiome plains. Only the area within the right and left clicks will be effected. //setbiome ONLY affects the weather/color of certain blocks NO BLOCKS/ITEMS are changed/replaced!!! There are no brush effects I'm aware of with //setbiome.

You are correct, I cannot visualize why you want to do this, or the reason.

I build a large horse corral on the east side of my base (y = 64). I prefer the grass color offered by the jungle biome. I "//replace whatever grass" (one large square with nothing except grass) was in this area then //setbiome jungle (Ocelots do occasionally spawn there once //setbiome is complete).

A small (21n-s x 11e-w) area immediately to the west of the corral, I modify as a mushroom_island biome. I grow one large red and one large brown mushroom.

I prefer lots of villages and desert temples (not enamored with jungle temples) so the majority of my bases are in or surrounded by deserts.

I am completely unfamiliar with poly-selection.

NO BLOCKS are changed with //setbiome (Acacia trees will still be there and will not disappear unless you take them down or replace them)! Even the change to grass color will not be immediately visible! I honestly do not know how long before the change takes effect but it will (I suspect the change is immediate but not visible until after the area is regenerated, you leave then return).

If I am in the center of a desert and "//setbiome jungle" the blocks that are effected remain sand, cacti, whatever!!!

Try it, find a desert, select a 3x3 area then //setbiome jungle.

When nothing visible changes //undo (provided you did nothing after //setbiome) will negate your change.

"//replace sand grass" will cause changes but only in blocks that I selected. Anything below or above my selection will be unaffected!

Hold a wooden axe, right-click the NW corner, left-click the SE corner, type //setbiome Plains. If that doesn't work try plains.

Setbiome won't change any blocks. Odds are the grass will eventually be greener, and the weather will change. If you want to change blocks download my signature.

It gives a short description of what each command does.

You will have to do that for each savanna section.

posted a message on I spawn in NOTHING..

Make certain MC is closed (OFF!!!)!

    Open NBTExplorer.

    Open the problem world

    Open leveldat

Look below and you should find

    Spawn X something

    Spawn Y something

    Spawn Z something

Try double_clicking each, in turn, to bring up an edit window. Try changing the spawn point for each to see if MAYBE it solves your problem.

Remember to save the changes or you just wasted your time.

If that doesn't work you can always recreate your world. MAKE SURE you create back-ups to not suffer this problem in the future!!!

I know NBTExplorer works with 1.12.2 and below. No promises it works with anything beyond that!

posted a message on Transfer singleplayer inventory to multiplayer ?

I did miss a step, between 4. Open "level dat" and 5. Open "Player"; should be 4.5 Open "Data" (added).

I can't help myself; I'm a retired USAF E7 (MSgt). My instructions to subordinates had to be complete and exact. Any miscommunication might have resulted in a crashed aircraft with a possible loss of life.

I was active for 20 years, 2 months, and 27 days. No crashes during that time.

    Good luck.

posted a message on Transfer singleplayer inventory to multiplayer ?

If "SinglePlayer" it can be done. I don't know whether it can be on a server.

It can be done using NBTExplorer.

    1. CLOSE Minecraft (not exit the game; turn it off).

    2. Open NBTExplorer

    3. Open a world where you have the inventory you want to copy.

    4. Open "level dat"

    4.5. Open "Data"

    5. Open "Player"

    5a. Find and highlight "Inventory"

5b. At the top of the page, find "Edit", select "Copy".

    6. If not already open, do the above 5 steps for the world you want to paste your inventory. It is possible on my machine to have 2 NBTExplorers running at the same time, I do that.

    7. If not already opened, open the world where you want to paste your inventory.

    7a. Select "Player",

    7b. Delete the existing "inventory".

7c, At the top of the page, find "Edit", make CERTAIN "Player" is still selected and select "Paste".

7d. SAVE the change and exit NBTExplorer.

    8. Open Minecraft and the world you made the change to, and it should have the new inventory.

    Need more help? PM me.

Thanks for your reply but, the post you responded to is over a month old... and he(?) also said he didn't want to eliminate all mob spawning, just where he was working.

I might also try Zombie rather than zombie.

posted a message on Intermediate between peaceful and easy difficulties for survival
    Quote from Agtrigormortis»
The very easy mode could be the kid friendly version and for beginners, adding monsters, but they are all neutral.

My career for 20+ years was the profession of arms. If not for the draft I'd have missed a very important part of my life.

I watched aircraft go airborne loaded with bombs and bullets then land with no armament on board. A part of my job was to ensure that when released the arms and the aircraft were at the correct coordinates and the armament hit the correct target (azimuth, angle of attack, airspeed, and altitude).

IMO playing at combat is a bad idea and something I don't think anyone that has experienced real combat wants to play at! I know that I do not!!!

There used to be multiple levels of play... and combat didn't have to be a part of it although could be when played in PVP, even the monsters were less hostile. I much prefer that Minecraft.

I wonder how many parents would allow their children to play Minecraft if aware of the level of combat today.

If my children were still of school age they would not be allowed to play this game as it is today!!!

    Stows soapbox.

    Quote from Agtrigormortis»

But Minecraft has a survival mode (and PVP), a mode that has combat features in it.

Nobody was saying it is exclusively for combat, but combat is one of the things survival mode has.

I don't want features forced on players without a significant majority playerbase consent to it.

But like it or not, if you're not playing on peaceful then expect monsters to be in the game.

This is only a suggestion though, one which I added to.

and I don't see how these suggestions would break the game, it's not like these new mob types would be unavoidable or just turn up whenever the game wants it to. They're not pillagers.

In My Opinion... When I purchased this game (2011) the monsters were little more than a distraction to mining/exploration! I firmly believe the creator designed it like that. Back then there were separate PVP and survival games. Again IMO a far better method of dealing with the two different types of play.

If you want to play at combat, join the armed services. Today you can try desperately to avoid bullets and IEDs. I filled my combat quota during VietNam. Thank you NO!!!

I'll wager the vast majority of veterans today DO NOT want to play at combat. If they do there are countless games that rely entirely on conflict. They do not include MINE in their name!
