Tried again. This time I deleted my entire MMC folder completely. Re-downloaded the zip file from the website, and unzipped it and ran it.
Then I added an account, unzipped the modpack into the instances folder, restarted MMC and it saw the pack like it has before.
I clicked "play" on the pack, it started to download the files (it looks like it actually added a few files to the folder, I had the instances folder open at the time) and it took a lot longer to try and get the files this time. I was really hopeful, actually.
And then.... the same damn error, cannot download the library files from Mojang.
I can't think of anything else to try, I can change forge versions so it can't be on my end this time. I think it's just MMC
Ya. I am not having this issue either....Maybe redownload the MultiMC.exe file and replace the one you already have....are you running the standard windows firewall? Also....can you instal forge from MultiMC? It has to download forge....so if that works then MultiMC isn't being blocked....try creating a new instance, then install forge from the instance settings. If it can download forge fine then its not your internet..you might have to delete the MultiMC folder maybe something has gotten corrupted or something..
Good call. I can indeed download and install a different forge version. What's the best way to delete all of MultiMC stuff then because deleting the folder is what I did before.
Interesting. Mojang's servers are up and running, MultiMC says it can connect (web has a check mark) and yet I STILL cannot seem to download these files for MultiMC to run this modpack. The modpack creator says he has no clue as no one else has this problem.
I'm out of ideas. I am starting to think it's MultiMC.
Did some checking...That red X by web is not MultiMC's internet connection. Thats the status for Minecraft.net and right now it's down. Also a red X for me as well....so that's the problem. Going to have to wait for Minecraft.net to come back up.
Oh my god, thank you Bourey. You've really helped a lot. I thought for sure it was MMC's connection to my internet.
Then, technically it should be working...Only thing I can suggest is disabling the firewall for a few secs and try running MultiMC and see if it connects and grabs the files....if it does then something with the firewall will have to be changed....
I really appreciate the help. For some reason I woke up this morning and now the red X is next to "Web" again on my MultiMC but all my firewall settings for the MMC.exe file are still set to pass the launcher through the firewall so I don't know WHAT is going on at the moment. I tried turning all my firewalls off for a few but I still get the red X and it won't download the files so I don't know what to do at this point.
I made sure my settings for allowing MMC through my firewall were the same as another game (which works perfectly) that I had to allow through my firewall as well is also set for. I might have to try turning off the firewall and then restarting the CPU to see if that changes anything.
I'm so at a loss right now, all I want to do is play this modpack. Modding was so much easier for me back when we had to actually manually add mod files into the .jar files themselves and use a mod loader for the mods themselves. Even earlier versions of MMC used to be easier for me to use for some reason.
I would definitely try restarting. It cannot hurt, it can only help. What do you use for a firewall?
I just restarted.... MulltiMC still says it has connection to the Web but I still cannot download the files. I'm using a regular Windows firewall, nothing special. In order to allow MultiMC access:
I added a "new rule" to allow it to pass through the firewall.... then I went into advanced settings and added rules specifically for outbound and inbound traffic for MultiMC.
Darn... ok, so I fiddled with my firewall settings. I noticed at the bottom of MultiMC there are some "indicators" for things like, "Account", "Skins", "Session" ... etc. One of them is labeled "Web" which I assume is the outside connection.
At the time of my first post, this had a Red X next to it... indicating it had no connection to the outside world, hence... why I couldn't download the files.
However... I now have a green check mark next to Web and I still am not able to download the files. Must I restart my CPU for the settings to take effect do you think? Where should I go from here?
Check to make sure MultiMC isn't blocked by your firewall....if it is failing to download the required libraries that is most likely your problem. Either that or the minecraft.net servers were down at that time, but I doubt that is the issue.
Great idea... now that you mention it, I remember having to allow MultiMC through my firewall the last time. Thank you so much for reminding me.
Hello. I've recently tried to set up my MMC 5 up again, I tried setting up a modpack I downloaded. I unzipped the modpack into the proper folder and I get the "icon" the modpack creator wanted and all the mods are loaded. The mods are for 1.7.10 so I checked all my settings to make sure I'm using the 1.7.10 version of Minecraft, the latest 1.7.10 version of Forge and everything.
However, when I try to launch, I get this message.
Unfortunately I cannot resize, or move the error window enough to get the rest of the error message. I hope this is enough for someone to point me in the right direction.
As a matter of course, I deleted my MMC 5 files completely and re-downloaded/re-unzipped all the files just to make sure I didn't have some sort of file floating around in the old folder that was causing this, but I guess not since the error message is still happening.
Please, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Bug: When I play on a server, research some stuff, log out and then log back in all the research I've done has just gone! I need to do it all over again! (Please note that I wasn't only running Tjaumcraft 3, but also quite a lot of other mods.)
I was raging when I noticed this... had an almost full Thaumonomicon...
Please, please do fix this.
I have this issue on a single player map.... I've literally stopped all playing with Thaumcraft 3 at this point.... I'm not about to research all that again.
Is anyone else getting a bug where it seems like you can't advance past "Favorite Trader"? Sometimes when I go back to my village, it considers me a stranger again... as though I'd never done anything. However, sometimes I get a quest, when I complete this quest, it gives me "reputation" points and brings me back to "Favorite Trader" but I can never ever get past this point no matter how many times I do this quest, and I've done it probably over 30 times.

Bummer.... but I guess it's typical.... I frequently run into issues that apparently no one else has ever had, heard of, or knows what to do about.
