As for the CPUs, Thanks for the info! I honestly know close to nothing about laptops except that Lenovo y40s can play MC. Would you recommend getting a laptop with an A10 and no dedicated GPU or step all the way up to something like a y40/entry level gaming laptop? And for the monitor, yeah the more I think about it the more I'm thinking about just getting myself a new monitor and giving her this one. Being the great brother I am, if she needs to record something important she can use my desktop. From what I can tell she only really records like every once in awhile so it shouldn't be much of a problem, she just wanted one that she could record on.And my only reason to getting a refurb is that my our parents will be getting a 1/2 yr warranty for it if she gets a laptop anyway, but then again I wouldn't want to get everything installed and have it die.

You said you would give your monitor to your sister and you get a new one,and now you said he does not have a pc....

Getting a monitor for her is 100% better than buying her a laptop
