Question: do mobs and items bounce on the green ice?
A few ideas since you asked:
Ice that doesn't support anything, so entities fall through it, but something that mobs won't avoid falling down.
Redstone infused ice that acts as a mob/player sensor and lights up/sends a pulse/something else.
Or a non-redstone one that melts once a player/mob walks within a certain distance of it or if it is placed by heat. (I think it would be a neat effect to see, but possibly annoying)
Ice that gives you a very short special ability.
Ice that you can bring into the nether/spawns in the nether and melt.
Ice that slowly heals you even if you're hungry if there is enough of it around.
Something-to-do-with-avalanches ice. (Ice tnt?)
I don't care so much for 2 and 4. The others I'll put in order of the ones I prefer: 5, 1, 7, 3, and 6
I am glad for a forge version, thank you much sir.
Thank you. It doesn't let me carry the 120 in my inventory like you said it should but it does stack in the chest which is what I'm really looking for.
actually all it explains is how to change the id's. but i need a config file for a specific variable. its hard to explain
Ah, sorry. You could probably look into how some of the open source mods do it then. A time investment but worthwhile. Finder Compass has its source in the download, its a fairly simple mod, and it includes a config file. A search also turned up UrnaiumMod as another option you could look into.
I really like the idea behind the mod but I'd prefer it to be a bit more variable. It seems right now the goal of your mod is to simply make it easy to get ores, a cheat mod. Not that that is bad in of itself but a more encompassing mod will bring in a more encompassing audience. Though I haven't tried it myself (its outdated), I generally like how Usman57 had his Pricision mining Mod set up:
Quote from Usman57 »
Tools will only work up to 75 % damage after that tools will work as normal.
wood pickaxe(no change);-
using wood pickaxe gives 1 drop how ever you can only mine coal as before.
Stone pickaxe:-
chance of dropping 2 coals other then that no change.
Iron pickaxe:-
33.3% chance of 1 block, 33.3% chance of 2 blocks, 33.3% chance of 3 blocks.
gold pickaxe
chance of dropping up to 5 blocks of coal only.
Diamond pickaxe:-
chance of dropping up to 4 blocks iron/gold.
chance of dropping up to 3 coal.
chance of dropping up to 3 diamonds.
Not to be a troll, but on a side note, apparently Usman57 made it so you couldn't duplicate user-placed blocks. Thus your reason in the OP for making iron an ore instead is essentially pointless (see his 2nd post, #15). I do prefer you use ores regardless since it doesn't make sense to get three full blocks from one block. It'll just take me some to getting used to iron ores.
In the end I think the best option would be a config file. It would include options such as whether or not a lower quality pickaxe can be used for an ore, the mining-time change on obsidian and redstone, how many ores you can get from a certain block, including ores from other mods, and perhaps even having presets for easy and not-so-easy mining. I see ODM as being mostly useful in counterpart to other bigger mods that require a lot of a specific ore or for the occasional survival redstone project and so an option to change an ores drop frequency would be much appreciated.
There seem to be mods kinda like this for Bukkit and such but i haven't seen one on the Minecraft forums. I'm hoping for a mod that gives a rather rare chance for a cave to generate as a cavern instead. That is to say: a chance for a cave to get really, really big and, sometimes, entire cave systems. I know some rare caves in vanilla can get close but I'm looking for something that's amazing and not just for that little part of the cave.
If a modder were to take up this idea, they would need to be substantially careful to keep caverns from becoming annoyingly or unrealistically big while at the same time not making it a let down. I'm guesstimating a cavern should be on average twice the size of a typical larger cave.
Extra possible ideas for this mod that would make it so much better:
Underground seas. Maybe even to the extent that it would require a boat.
Able to spawn cities. Normal surface cities or something a bit more dark, dwarven, and/or abandoned. [Speaking of new cities, a mod for cities that are built into cliffs on the surface would be :cool.gif: ]
Plants. Specifically something larger than a block. Lava light could be a useful option here.
New and larger dungeons that only spawn in caverns. Not a stronghold, not a normal dungeon. Guess I'm thinking more of a small castle.
New mobs. A creature to light up those caverns would be nice. Preferably flying - there are enough ground based ones - and maybe a way to tame it so it follows you for a while.
Mini-biome. A mushroom biome. Or something completely other. [Thinking of new biomes, a mod for a new, rare, giant-crashed-asteroid biome would be :cool.gif: too.]
A config file to turn these other ideas on and off would be a good idea for those who simply want caverns.
This mod would compliment mods that change world height quite well (and other village mods if so implemented.) And lastly, remember compatibility is always a high priority. Thoughts and creation of this mod would be appreciated. :wink.gif:

Looks like you really want to put some effort into this mod, props to you. Good luck.
