This is how the Distance Measurer was originally implemented but it was changed because there is no practical use for the euclidean distance. Instead it uses the longest axis because that is what people want to know when building things: "how many blocks away is that wall?", "how long should I make this?". I simply don't see any practical use for knowing that a block on the diagonal is 22.73 blocks away from me.

I'd find it extremely useful when building farms. I want a euclidean distance to know, for example, where I can safely sit my AFK spot 24 meters from the nearest spawnable block in a farm, and which blocks are <128 away and need to be lit up to prevent spawns, or where is just under 128 from my AFK (for a splat pad or transport) so farmed mobs don't despawn. (Safe overlay doesn't help with the "where to prevent spawns" because it's also a rectangular area, plus the lag of setting it that high.)

BTW best mod I've used, and hope to be able to use it in 1.9 too. Keep up the good work. :)

ETA: Another thing that might be extremely handy, as far as measuring goes, is being able to place a persistent non-block marker (something like the X of the safe overlay) at whatever block is under the cursor.
