I agree with this guy. He is right on both counts.
Grr, I hate it when I'm wrong. Stone brick staircases and smoothstone does look good together. In addition, I would change up the roof a little. For one, the roof should come out past the wall at least 1 block to give it a more realistic 3D effect. Also, the entrance could be a little less flat. It just looks like a stair pattern with stone. The walls can have a 3D effect as well (log supports on walls can come out, although you did mention changing the walls). Ugh, try adding supports to THAT wall, my friend. Might try with stone brick staircase, though.
Windows can be added on the side (not too many though!) I'll add those when the interior is done. As per the gospel of saint Notch "Have the exterior accomodate the interior."
All in all, it's a good start, but you seem to be refusing any type of advice, giving excuses. Granted, there aren't that many examples yet, but try to be more open.
I would suggest if you want to, splitting up all of the mods. Industrial craft has a 100x100 area, Buildcraft a 100x100 area. Then, you can change the size depending on the importance of the mod/.
A house? My advice: Don't fret too much about it. If you go with the flow, it usually turns out pretty good. However, if you plan, think about it a lot, then you usually get a bad result just as often as a good one. I don't mean actually plan, but think over and over again. (Sigh)Thats what happens to me... go with the flow.
Cornan... What? That isn't a cube? It's not even an A-frame,Turek, though you're pretty close. I find that this floor plan of a mansion is effective, as it can easily have a cental communing area.
It will be more than a cube with a roof. Don't you understand? I said I'd edit the building- that maybe includes the shape- once I have put everything in, so it can be the best I can make it.
-I've tried using stone brick as a roofer before, it does not look god. The smoothstone looks more like shale-perfect.
-I'll be keeping the glass. it adds a nice touch- even if the default glass is disgusting.
-I'll do that today, I was already planning on it.
Okay. Well, I'm building a mansion- you can see that. Its gonna be the planning for a mansion I'm building on a multiplayer server. Now, I KNOW that the wall is too repetitive-I'll edit that to better accomodate the inside when I'm done.
I need advice on what to put in. So far I've got a kitchen, servant's quarters(maybe), master bedroom, guest bedroom, library, and entertainment area.
Any ideas for what else I shall put in? It'll be a three-leveled mansion, don't you worry.
What you do is have an area where tbhe zombies pile up, say, what would usually be a collection area. Use the water to funnel them there of course. Then, have a setup where pistons push in, and start suffocating them until the point they are almost dead. Then, kill them.
The basic xp farm. This can also be adapted to Blazes, as Ethos has shown.
No. Seriously, what you do is add anysort of defensive mechanism you can. Dispensers with fire charges are a good idea. Or just arrows. Dig up a load of gravel, and make a load of arrows.
Problem solved.
And a nether portal leading to a nether fortress with a fully automated blaze xp farm, where the only thing you have to do to the blazes is hit them once with a diamond sword.

If it is just a simple pyramid, without any passageways running through it, make a square(say 10x10.) Then, make a smaller square (9x9) in the middle. And so on.
At the end, you can hollow out the inside to get the resources back. Or, you can make an awesome pyramid base.

Why, you might only need that.
