It happens. Mobs can faneggle themselves into a lot of different places, but if they spawned on other things tan just grass, I'd still have them spawning in my base, which stopped after the update that forced non-hostile mobs to spawn on grass.

As far as trees, I did a 30 minute science to try to prove my case. I have a big tree farm, and all the little plots have grass on them. I placed dirt in two of the plots, one in the middle of the farm, and one on the outer edge. After I got tired of waiting, I took screenshots for proof. This is about 30 minutes after planting:

As you can see, all the trees have already grown, except the two that were planted on dirt. You can't argue that they don't have enough space or light, because all the plots have torches along side them, and after the other trees grew, I chopped off the leaves above the saplings.

I don't know if anybody noticed this... but this set of pictures are not proof, this is the same picture posted twice!! Check the cloud in the background above the tree on the right. Its in the exact same place.

Here's my method. There will be more torches when I am closer to the surface. When I need to find a small staircase, I just add another torch around it to make it more noticable.

You know... Red stone torches could work. Their noticable, they stand out, and you can limit how many you place.

A basic version of SMP. Duh... We're more likely to expect more updates throughout the week than on one single day.

That above, I'm assuming is a selection of ways to freak people out.

Either that... or there is a REALLY low dip in the game. And the soil goes beneath the ocean level.

You need 4 clay bricks to make a cube of bricks.

On another topic, welcome to the forums.

This is awesome! I found some redstone and I'm making logic gates for alarms.

We should have lightbulbs though for the redstone current.

We should make a bank, give the bank iron doors, and include a panic button. When we push the button, the doors lock.

The idea above... is a good one. It even gives wood houses *some* form of defence. But it would definetely make Obsedium a powerful block. Oh yea... here's a good idea guys. Houses buried under snow. It really makes it easier to hide your house especially if you make nothing stick out other than a random sign pointing that way. It would even make it better if you cover the roof with dirt.

*Why should we make cover better? What about concealment? I say it requires less of my time to hide my house rather than make it tough.*

Another thing... If you people log off, then whats the point of trying to save your buildings. I doupt that even the building that you make will exist there anymore.

Also... why bother with obsedium walls? Place your valuables inside a 2 block thick obsedium wall.

Oh thanks. I didn't know. Also... Obsedium. Is. Really. Tough.

I'm really surprised by its strength. Also... when I was looking through the Adminium, I found a hole and light came through it. I'm assuming that this would not end well for me if I step into it. Also... I found more diamond. Hurray for me!

Whats wrong with peaceful? I see nothing wrong with it personally.

That is a problem with disapearing sapplings.

Also... has anybody noticed that sheep seem to hang around torches?

Did I just find a new craftable item?

It looks like a wood floor.

    Its made like this.

:wood: :wood: :wood: for 1 panel. You can place it down but you can't pick it up. Correct me if I'm wrong and its old news.

I think semi-protecting land claim flags should be the way to go. But just taking longer to destroy probably won't work. If it takes 20x longer to delete a block in a claimed area, a thief can still get through my obsidian wall in 10 minutes, or just blow it up in seconds. My 2 thick wall is down in 20 minutes, my 3 thick wall is down in thirty. This is of course just after I got offline, and won't be back for many hours. So land claim flags would have to be say... 100x the deletion time. So that my three thick wall will keep someone out for hours, something similar to the time it took me to make it. But that still leaves the tnt problem. My suggestion? Obsidian can't be destroyed with tnt. But even that still leaves the problem of how I would get into my house, the solution? A 4 digit binary password on my INDESTRUCTIBLE steel door. Thats right, steel doors should be indestructible except to their placers. This leaves no opportunity to greif by placing them in peoples bases, you can just delete the ground under them to get rid of them.

Uhh... Obsedium can't be blown up that easily... 1 box of TNT will get through 1 layer of obsedium. And frankly... you need diamond pickaxes to mine it properly.

I would say that Obsedium is the perfect defence material. (For once I'm not going to mention my other idea. That would just be annoying.)

Hmm... About the Blue zones... blue zones are cities with small plots of land available for people to build in. You are limited to 1 zone, and you have the entire sky above that zone to build in. Plus... you could also build in the other zones like green or yellow. (Yellow zones could make for some good castle vs castle matches without the risk of losing your belongings. Except for whats in the other castle because stealing... is still allowed.)

posted a message on UPDATE 4
I managed to get a snowy level on my third attempt... And apparently I started around an ocean. I found out a few things. 1. Water will not freeze if there is no snow falling on it.
    2. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea on how or what to use my red dust on.
    3. I am freezing cold right now as I'm typing this, despite the fact that I am in Florida. In the mind of the player, he may feel as if he is freezing.
    4. My first attempt for a building in the snowy wasteland was a cloth shack that is surrounded by dirt and sand all around. Stone stairs are the way out of this. Unfortunately... I ran out of cloth to build with and had to finish the rest of my shack with dirt/mud before the sun set and it became really cold.

I really like this update. Also, I found admin/indestructable blocks while I was digging down, but thats old news. I find it cool how it is no longer a straight flat line of blocks like in the past.
I say that the snow should pile up, and that could slow you down. It would also give the shovel a new place to shine! But... I mostly say that the snow at night should deal some damage of some sort due to the extreme cold. And it could be more painful with metal armor. Also... is gold REALLY RARE now?

Guys, there is a really obvious solution to a really obvious problem. Don't make a huge ****ing obvious castle. Dig a hole, make your base from there. Develop the caves, stay out of sight. Huge castles and the like are for creative mode, not survival mode where the goal is to actually survive. Also, if I do see someone with a castle, i'll mine for 10 minutes, then use the stone to climb over the walls, or maybe chop down a few trees and make a ladder. It doesn't matter how tough the bricks are when you can get around them. Also, I like the idea of different zones. However, I think stealing should be allowed anywhere. The catch is that if you steal someone's stuff, you get flagged as a thief, and the victim and his guild (if a guild system or the like is implemented) can kill you for, say, half an hour, even in blue and green zones. This encourages the thieves to be stealthy and makes it a higher risk vs reward for them. This system has been tested and works quite well in other games.

I kind of like this. But still... I say that blue zones shouldn't have stealing. Those places will bring player interaction and also allow you to make buildings. Stealing would not help it.
Now... some people want to raid villages. Well... I have to say that for that... the village would have to be in a more dangerous zone. Thats a flaw I see with my plan. But... I still say in the longer run, it is a better plan than not being able to make buildings or at least talk with other people.

To the post above... This is why I suggested a Blue zone. A blue zone is for Player interaction. I don't really care if it stops player actions like killing. Thats the point! Its suppose to promote player interaction like trading,
