posted a message on Redstone/Command Block Assistance; A few questions
I am currently working on an open world RPG adventure map, and I am planning to utilise command blocks to perform certain environmental scenarios.
I would like some help with the following questions:

Is it possible to create a Command Block clock that inflicts instant damage on a player that is not wearing a named item in a specific armour spot, but only in the End? (I'm assuming /testfor is used; the item in question is an oxygen helmet)?

A way to "talk" to villagers, either by right clicking or by using a special item on them?

How do I apply data tags (such as {Invulnerable:0/1}) to existing mobs (such as an armoured zombie that I spawned)? If not, are there any McEdit filters that allow this?

And finally, a way to make a hostile mob passive, without removing its AI?

    All help is appreciated. :)

Very vague. What are the mob's stats (eg: health, damage)?

I was amazed at how little (read: barely any) lag there was! The server is fast, the denizens are friendly, and the admins are extremely efficient at their jobs.

Had fun playing around with this! :D Is there anyway to modify the command so it only affects a specific named bow/snowball? e.g. A bow named "DragonBreath"?

Have the skeleton ride a mob on a lower level. Sethbling did something similar in one of his builds: . However, you'll have to seclude the mounted mob in a small chamber. Hope this helps! ^_^

posted a message on Most Annoying Death?
Back in Beta my friend told me to build a nether portal by mixing water and lava in a dirt mold. It leaked and reached my nearby treehouse. I managed to put the lava out with water, but flooded my house in the process. Off to go fetch water to finish the job, I accidentally fell into one of the lava streams from the mold. I burnt to death, but didn't respawn at the treehouse because water was obstructing my bed. :steve_tearful:

I eventually found my treehouse after a few days, fixed it, found some diamonds, and made an actual portal. I still have that world to this day.

thank you for showing us that you cannot find a decent argument against why minecraft doesn't need (wich it isn't) to be realistic and instead come up with a pathetic mock of the people who don't agree with your point of view.

Like i said before, you could also try and consider suggesting something else that would be more realistic about podzol spread (like i did) instead of just jumping in with your negativity and narrow minded attitude trying to shove us into your flawed logic.

it is really annoying and it makes you look like a random troll.

If you read my previous comments, you can see I provided an alternative to the spreading. And I'm mocking the most common counterargument, not people who disagreed with me.

Well, enjoy being the vocal minority.

There is no reason for Podzol to spread. It's just soil.

Water is dead matter, it replicates just fine.

A neurological virus that just so happens to be in a game otherwise full of magic and other undead?, of course it's a typical undead scenario.

    Ahem, no.
Water is 'abiotic', (non-living) not dead. It was never alive to begin with. Minecraft water physics fit in well with the blocky theme.

I like to associate fictional creatures and scenarios in somewhat more "realistic" terms (My theory is that skeletons' muscular and organ structure is contained within the bones themselves, similar to an exoskeleton. Potions could just be simplified versions of futuristic complex medicine. Endermen are a subspecies of human, etc).

It looks like a pile of leaves. Leaves spread.
So zombies summoning other zombies isn't dead matter replicating?
    I don't think It's needed.
So a dead plant should be craftable, but not a fungus infested block.
What's wrong with being able to place all blocks in full daylight? All you can do is farm mushrooms, which nobody does in it's current state anyway.

Leaves will only congregate if there are source trees, which I explained in my first post.
I always saw the zombie as a neurological disrupting virus, and not a typical "undead" scenario. Take zombie villagers for example.
    You're right; it's unnecessary.
Mycelia would require more items to craft. (maybe placing a mushroom in a crafting table to obtain a mycelium strand, then combining 8 of them with dirt to get a Mycelium block). And Mycelium spreads anyway.
I'm absolutely positive you know EVERY Minecraft user's agriculture techniques. My friends and I prefer to grow our mushrooms in the open.

    1. The texture looks like it is leaves covering the ground, so we should treat it like that.
    2. Hur dut itz minecwaft it dosnt haev to bee reelistic. No really. It doesn't. Why do we have zombies, and creepers if this is a realistic game? Is podzol spreading as unrealistic as "8 legged, Creeper hunting dinosaurs?"
    3. Why add the limit of how high the leaf blocks have to be?
    4. Then we should add craftable mycelium.

What did you mean by the leaf response?
Dead matter replicating is as unrealistic as time travelling tamable hunting dinosaurs.
IDK about the limit; other posters stated that, so I went along with it.
No. Mycelium is a complex system of brittle fungi "roots" (one of the reproductive parts that don't use spores). A mycelium item would have to be added.
I'd also like to add that Podzol is the "Jack-of-All Trades" plant-friendly block. You can plant not only trees and flowers, but mushrooms in full daylight.

Like many tired debaters before me have stated, Podzol is merely soil combined with decaying leaf waste among other abiotic substances. Having Podzol spread is unrealistic. Now don't bother replying if you're going to say "Hur dut itz minecwaft it dosnt haev to bee reelistic". Minecraft isn't a realistic survival simulation. There is infinite water, organisms that break the laws of nature and physics, and the world itself is comparable to a piece of paper; really thin but covers a VERY large area (3.6 billion sq/m to be precise). But if Minecraft followed the "unrealistic" trope, we'd have the ability to summon 8 legged, Creeper hunting dinosaurs. Now THAT was a bit too unrealistic.
Back to the point. I support the spread, but with restrictions.
    1.
Podzol will form on dirt underneath any spruce leaf block or tree in any "Snowy" or "Cold" Biome (reference: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Biome), simulating the life of a deciduous tree. There will be a limit of 10 blocks (lets assume the pine needles can only float with a certain velocity for so far) of height from the dirt to the source spruce leaf.
    2.
Podzol can be crafted from a combination of:
    2 Dirt
    1 Clay ball
    1 Charcoal
    1 Spruce leaf block
This would yield two Podzol blocks

    Thankyou for your time.
