Heya, I'm doing Overload with a friend atm and we can't get the teleportation system to work. When we step onto the pad nothing happens. Also, all the books, including the one that I think is supposed to explain the teleportation system, just say "Invalid book tag". Don't know if that's connected.

Does the teleport system work in multiplayer?

    Quote from Quanni123X

I understand how updates keep things fresh, but changing the genre of the game from sandbox to RPG just pisses people off.
It's always been a game about getting and spending resources with the end goal to make what you want.
Enchantments and potions and other "RPG" elements are just more options that also take up resources, and open up a lot more potential for getting more and building better things.

Sorry that you hate options, though.

Witches, Bats.. Zombie Villagers?! No. No. Look, heres a line: | << See that Mojang? Thats a line. Now heres you: | o << You have simply CROSSED THE LINE.

I like how you post this with no explanation of why you think these things are bad as if everyone is just going to accept that they are negatives and somehow "crossing a line".
This "line" does not exist, and the vast majority of MC players are happy with the changes. Stop acting like you represent an indignant majority, nothing you're saying is the given you think it is.

Also, it's is really funny whenever people say something doesn't "fit" with Minecraft.
As if Minecraft hasn't had a load of different, sometimes conflicting ideas present in its content, and as if you wrote the book on what is Minecraft-y and no one can disagree with you, because these things are clearly not fitting you guys come on now.
And witches, of all things! When skeletons and big spiders and moaning green zombies, all kid-friendly, vaguely spooky mobs like witches were the first hostile mobs added, on what imaginary precedent are witches "not fitting"?

Seriously, why do people do this? Stop being afraid of change.

You know, at this point it's possible to have had a MC world for over a year.
Technically you could have one that's around 3 years old if you kept an un-updated version of the game around to play a world that would otherwise break.

    Quote from BrickVoid

With regards to the map that OOG are doing, Deathly Trails, why is there a cavespider spawner surrounded by bedrock in the part leading up to the castle with the blaze spawners and vines inside it? I'm seriously not considering playing any of these kinds of maps if the map creator feels the need to block spawners in with blocks that can only be broken with creative mode, 3rd party programs like TMI etc, or map editing tools.

If your map's really supposed to live up to it's name, you shouldn't block off breaking of spawners with bedrock blocks. I'm therefore hoping this was some oversight on your part, because if I have to go edit an annoying mob out of existence with tools that are not included with vanilla Minecraft, it takes all the challenge out of this style of map, and therefore does not encourage me to try playing it at all.

    Cheers ...

    BrickVoid
So... did you not consider just stopping them from spawning via torches?
That's often the easier way anyways.

    Oh man.
I don't disagree with what you're saying, just one nitpick: Minecraft almost always goes in powers of two-2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64. Items get crafted and stack in these.
As such, coins oughta be crafted in sets of 16, not 18-would fit more easily into the stacks of 64, with 4 sets.

At this point, I'm wondering if it could be possible to have the game scan the area for wheat in a certain radius around a scarecrow when placed/crafted, and only make the wheat update in real-time, leaving everything besides it in the area unloaded.
'Course, I don't use java and don't mod, so I'm pretty ignorant of the limitations of both the language(less of a concern) and the game engine(more of one). I think it could be done, but it would probably be at least a little tricky.

    The 1.7 Terrain + 1.2.0 Structures

Let's face it, the terrain generation of 1.7 was way cooler than the terrain of 1.0.0.
...nah, I don't really agree with you.
Or appreciate you assuming everyone does. I like my varied biomes and treeless mountains, thanks.
IMO, what the terrain generation really needs right now is to take advantage of the increased height limit.

posted a message on Number of Stairs Returned by Crafting is Too Small
    Quote from Prinny94812

I get what you are saying. Even a 1:1 ratio would be a welcome change. For stairs I don't mind it being somewhat more 'expensive' at the moment.

Creating Sandstone on the other hand is way to expensive at a 4:1 ratio. Unlike cobblestone, sand is not renewable.
Sandstone would be so much better if you could craft it back into four blocks of sand. Bam, easy sand storage.
Also, this isn't something that bothers me personally, since I don't really ever make tons of stairs, but I get why it would be, especially now that upside-down stairs adds a lot more functionality to them.
Still not as bad as how you used to lose blocks when making half-slabs, though.

This is actually a really neat, probably technically feasible idea. And practical, too.
Only issue that immediately comes to mind is computer resources. On multiplayer servers, each of these would require an area not near a player to still stay rendered anyways, plus the requirements of the scarecrow entities themselves.
Still very clever, though, and I'm sure there'd be some sort of work-around to that.

    Yes.

    Quote from sofahound

I'm all for a new ore, but this is just... super unique special snowflake powder.

What does this have to do with snow?!?
Clearly, you don't know what the term "special snowflake" means. It doesn't actually have anything to do with snow.
It means when you try to make something super special and unique for no reason other than being special and it ends up dumb because you're trying too hard.

    Quote from sofahound

Why are the effects completely different between different tools with no kind of overarching theme?

Fine, id like to see you come up with better ideas
Saying that people can only criticize something if they can do better is like saying that if a chef serves them ****, they can only say it's bad if they go cook something to one-up it. Get over yourself.

    Quote from sofahound

Why does it work with redstone,

Because the current redstone cant go on walls and cielings
That doesn't explain why this ore should be able to do this.
Wouldn't it make more sense to make redstone be able to do that by itself, especially since this stuff is apparently super rare and lots of redstone machines get really big and would require a lot of it?
    Quote from sofahound

and why can you make a compass from it?

because the current compase is useless if your spawn isnt at your house
Again, doesn't explain why this rock would do this. Very un-intuitive.

    Quote from sofahound

    Nothing about this makes sense.

You dont make sense to me either
    Ad hominem, classy.
    Quote from sofahound

It doesn't help that these effects are either nearly useless or disgustingly OP.

    overpowered?
    this is rarer than daimond
its found only in the tallest mountains, in groups of 2 - 3.
there are at most 2 - 4 mountains of that size in an average mountain biome.
it still wouldnt be in 100% of those mountains
and mountain biomes arent exactly as common these days

this totals up o this being in 1% of chunks.
daimon is foundin like 50% of chunks

with that rarity you could turn this into the death star and it wouldnt be overpowerd
The difference is that diamond is underground deep down, and from the surface, there's no way to see where it is. With this, it will always be at the huge ****ing mountains. They kind of stand out.
So a player could just run around from mountain to mountain, relatively easily able to find this ridiculous stuff.
Either way, being rare does not mean that it cannot be OP. It still does stuff that is either
    a: Ridiculously good, or
    b: Useless.

    posted a message on Ghosts!!!
    Quote from Someguyfromcrowd

What would mansions look like? How big would they be? What would the ghosts look like? What would they do? Would they attack? How much health would they have? Could they roam outside of the mansion? How often would they drop diamonds? Why? Why don't they drop some new item?

I suggest you put some more thought into this before suggesting it. Saying "I don't care what they look like" isn't exactly a good way to build confidence.
What this guy said. What are these mansions? What are they like, what do they contain and what are they made of? Do they introduce new blocks or gameplay mechanics?
What do these ghosts do and why do you want them? Why would they drop diamonds? What do they do besides normal mobs?

Really, what would this add to the game? That's what you should ask yourself before making a topic like this.
