Hi, I'm Jay, I'm in my 30's and live in the US. I've been playing for several years now and enjoy building and chatting with other players. I prefer to play on vanilla SMP servers that are adults only, usually with some form of lockette or grief protection in place.
*edit* copy/paste wasn't working properly so I had to retype everything.
So I'm crafting maps of an island I'll be building on and I intend to do a before/after version. However from everything I was able to find about map functionality it seems that the map will update simply by holding it to place on the wall. I understand that I could place the map away from where I intend to build to avoid this but I want to include the map with my build. Is there a work around for this so I can avoid updating the map as I place it?

A few sentences about why we should let you on to the server: Well, first off, I've played on a number of servers and never been banana'd yet. I'm mainly a builder and I like to build things interesting for other players to enjoy as they explore. I get along well with others and like to socialize. Plus I'm excited about checking out your vanilla SMP.
Well I'd like to be able to enjoy fireworks on SMP vanilla without spending excessive amounts of time farming. I've spent several hours in creative since the recent update and the optional trails often make for more beautiful fireworks. Unfortunately, because of the cost I will cut back significantly on what I would like to craft VS what's realistic to craft given my resources. It's a pity too as the fireworks they implemented look amazing, especially at night.
By the way, are the minecraft forums always filled with this many trolls? I don't post here much.
I want to throw my voice into this pot of discontent over the use of diamonds as a crafting material for fireworks.
I'm with many other people who agree it should be redstone and not diamonds used to form firework trails. Furthermore, fireworks are single use items that last but a moment once used. It would be nice to see a greater reward for our efforts like OP suggested, each crafted firework making 4 or 8 sounds far more reasonable. As it stands now I think many of us will be faced with the option of crafting a beautiful fire work, or a mediocre one, depending on how willing we are to spend our diamonds crafting them.
*edit* I never used a looting enchanted sword before and I realized that it balances out the drop rate on leather that I was complaigning about.
