Oh, :ohmy.gif: Not to sure sorry why dont you make spawn protection 0 and installed world guard and then just protect your spawn?

I'm pretty much picking up the server from someone else, and he hadn't been using WorldGuard. I'll look into it, thanks.

The spawn protection is only like 16 blocks, when you go to a place in the nether what are the chances of finding them 16 blocks?

    Ours is 150 blocks

Is it possible through the use of a bukkit mod to disable spawn protection in the nether only?

Kind of irritating to have a player jump into the nether and be in a spawn protected area. Especially since portals seem to take you all over randomly inside the nether, so a portal from 2500 blocks away from spawn in the main world could end up ontop of spawn in the nether.

posted a message on What economy mod is this?
I was on a server the other day that had some kind of economy mod that allows players to buy/sell/trade items for money through signs.

Example: A sign said "[BUY] 1 Cobblestone $5" and if a player right clicked that sign, it would give them 1 cobblestone and subtract $5 from their account. Then there were [SELL] signs that a player could rightclick, and if they had the item, it would be removed from their inventory and their account would be credited.

This also seemed to allow player trading, so a player could put [TRADE] "1 Cobblestone for 1 Netherrack" and, while I never did the trading system, I assume it would remove a netherrack from their inventory to some kind of holding area. Then a player could come up with 1 cobble, right click and the cobble would be delivered to the player offering the trade, and a netherrack going to the first player.

I thought this was a fantastic idea that allowed complete autonomy in the economy. Right now on my server we just sell items for gold ore which can cause serious inflation issues and an admin always has to be online to do so.

Anyone know which mod it is (or set of mods) that allows this? Hopefully it's bukkit compatible!

posted a message on Switching Output redstone circuit?
I tried mimicking the pulse generator designs on the wiki (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/images/5/50/Pulse_gen.png)

unfortunately they don't seem to do anything. I'm not sure if this is due to it being in SMP or not. For example I made A and applying positive input and then turning it off doesn't cause output to flash at all. I even tried hooking an RS NOR to the output just to see if maybe I'm missing it, it doesn't toggle at all.

EDIT: The B' design works so I'll just use this. Little clunky, but it'll do

posted a message on Switching Output redstone circuit?
I'm in need of a circuit that will switch it's output between 1 of 3 outputs (preferably in order, 1, 2, 3) based on each step of the clock.

    The simply idea is this:
    :RFlower: [] :RFlower: [] :RFlower:
    :Furnace: [] :Furnace: [] :Furnace:

Where :RFlower: is redstone wire and :Furnace: is a dispenser. I'd use a standard 5-clock just to cycle around, and I need some sort of logic that will make the first pulse fire the dispenser on the left, second pulse fire dispenser in the middle, third pulse fire dispenser on right, then fourth back to the left again.

This needs to be triggered by a pressure plate to turn the system on and then another plate to turn off. I was just going to use an RS NOR latch for that, but I'm stumped on the alternating outputs. Hopefully keeping it compact as well.

    *sigh*

If you had read the documentation and other things properly, you would have known that the irc.dll system is often falsely flagged as trojan. Nothing to worry about.

    This.

posted a message on Diverting Power to programs
This is not really how computers work.

Your program will automatically use any CPU/GPU clock time necessary to perform it's calculations so long as there is free clock cycles to use. If you have a ton of other programs hogging up memory and CPU, there's little left for your application.

There's a FEW solutions, but they are all shoddy at best. Option A is to set your program in Task Manager to a higher priority. This can cause severe lockups and system instability. Same with setting the other programs to a lower priority.

Option B is only if you have a multi-core CPU. Set all other running proccesses affinity to a single core or 2 cores (if you have a quad core), and your program after started, set it to the other cores or all.

Option C is to just close running processes when you close your program. This is the best solution.

Option D is to realize that your computer may NOT meet the requirements as well as you think, based on memory type and speed, processor FSB and speed, graphics card memory amount, type and speed. Just because your numbers on the box meet "minimum requirements" does not mean the game can be playable.

I'm the one who develops iCraft, it does a lot and is more stable then MCLawl. Join us on irc.esper.net #icraft and we can help you out there.

And as the developer for MCLawl, I'm not going to make biased, opinionated assumptions in preference of my own software.

    To the OP:

Try both, see which one you prefer. Myself, I host 2 servers and prefer to use MCLawl over all others for a multitude of reasons. The first being stability. The latest releases of MCLawl are more stable than ever, with servers running weeks on end without crashing or restarting or going over 200-300mb. The ability to update automatically, pass restart commands through IRC, etc all make remote management even easier should a problem occur. And with the automatic restart on error option, the server will run itself continuously without admin-interaction. If a problem occurs, the server saves the maps and player data, then restarts itself, avoiding any issues with the server being offline.

Updates are being released all the time with new features, new bug fixes. We are active in the community, have message boards with requests that are usually always implemented or a method is determined for doing what someone is trying to accomplish.

We also have a custom scripting feature which allows users to easily and seamlessly program their own commands and integrate them into their MCLawl server. This means if you want it to happen, it can probably be done (barring any client limitations), even if MCLawl out of the box does not support it. We have a community command repository on our message boards where community members program and release the code for new commands all the time, solving many features others do not.

As for big-name features for non-administrative uses, MCLawl offers Imageprinting, Hollow, Capture the Flag, Achievements, Custom Physics, Copy/Paste saving and loading, custom text file saving and loading, and many other things.

As for iCraft, I have never used it, so I cannot comment or speculate on the stability, features or functions that it offers.

    Blue on black is awesome.

MrScarFace: I don't know what Valek meant about a new database. I wasn't there for that conversation. For the random login failed, that's a problem that has been plaguing this software since MCSharp, and we've yet to isolate fully.

And as far as I'm aware, once we replace the column creation code, it should just pop it into your database with no faults.

Probably. Worst case scenario you lose some titles, colors, etc.

    Artanis: No.

Hate to keep bugging you Lawlcat, but I love MCLawl, and I was wondering if you could help me a bit more.

Every night, right around 6-8pm my time, MCLawl decides it doesn't want to work any more, and refuses to let anyone else on the server. I can get the Vanilla Server (provided by minecraft.net) to run and accept people, but once it becomes night, it's nigh impossible for anyone to connect onto MCLawl.

Also, this is for your information. I keep getting these error:

    ----11/15/2010 6:27:00 PM ----
    Type: MySqlException
    Source: MySql.Data
Message: Unknown column 'color' in 'players'
    Target: ReadPacket
    Trace: at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlStream.ReadPacket()
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.NativeDriver.GetResult(Int32& affectedRow, Int32& insertedId)
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.Driver.GetResult(Int32 statementId, Int32& affectedRows, Int32& insertedId)
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.Driver.NextResult(Int32 statementId)
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlDataReader.NextResult()
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior)
    at MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
    at MCLawl.MySQL.executeQuery(String queryString, Boolean createDB)

    -------------------------

You seem to have fallen victim to Valek's "Get rid of the colour creation column" code.

    lulz.

    It'll be fixed soon.

And there is no way to set the ops to be able to undo past 5400 seconds at this time.

Server is losing connection with your MySQL service. Make sure it's not dying prematurely.
