The first day I played Minecraft I decided I wanted to build a tower in every corner of the map almost like guard towers. Once the first one was built nearly as high as possible I realized I wanted to connect them with a skybridge. I then decided I wanted to connect all four sky bridges in their exact centers with some sort of central building like a pyramid. From there I decided to build underground tunnels as low as possible to connect the four towers and then again I wanted to connect these 4 tunnels in the middle like I did the skybridges. With my map divided in quarters I decided to do the 4 lakes and once the glass blocks became available I wanted to do 4 underwater buildings that were all connected. Finally I decided to have the sort of rivers lead out from the 4 sides of the pyramid. To do all this, make sure that everything was uniform, and to clear the entire map manually it must have taken me near 100 hours or over two months. This was just from the design I planned up in the first two days. So, here it is:

The next 3 are the first 3 floors of the Tower. Floors 4-6 are exact duplicates of the first 3 so I left them out but did include floor 7 which leads to the balcony which itself leads to the roof.

In the back corner of each tower are where the staircases begin that lead down to the tunnels which run to each tower. The first picture is of the stairs going either way, the second is once you reach the bottom of the stairs, and the third is where the tunnel meets the one linking it to a central location. Each tunnel is an exact duplicate.

In the center of the map where the four underground tunnels meet is a large shaft going straight up to the middle of the map where the pyramid is located. I put a winding stair case up through the center wrapped around a red column, then I glassed in the staircase so you climb surrounded by water.

Once you reach the top you are obviously inside the pyramid. This is inside and out including one of the four "rivers" that run from the pyramid to the water outside the map.

Finally my favorite part of the map are four identical square "lakes" I dug 34X34X15.(Yeah I had to destroy roughly 17340 blocks for each one). I wanted them exactly centered but the map apparently is a rectangle and I had to make sure the tunnels all met up. Luckily this just means the lakes are one or two blocks off exact center. In the middle of the lakes I built glass rooms with a single empty space leading up to them so you can come up from under the water. Each room then leads off in two directions to connect up with the other lakes and glass rooms. I left exactly one space entirely around the tunnels so water would flood around the outside of the glass.

Anywho, now I find myself completely clueless on what to do next. I'm sure I'll think of something else to eat up another 100 hours of my time. I sort of consider this a hobby or at least something to do until Champions Online comes out in September.

Ok, I stumbled across "Preferences" right after I posted this and learned the answer to at least two of my questions. You must Pre-Purchase to edit your skin, and it looks like it is done through the site and now any kind of saved file.

Does that mean there is no download when you Pre-Purchase and therefore no way to back-up your map?

I've put well over 30 hours now into my Single Player map with at least another 30+ left before I finish just the stuff I've wanted to do since Day 1. If I Pre-Purchase the game will I get the ability to save the game and map to my computer or is there any other way to back it up? Also, do I have to purchase before I can edit and swap skins? I found the skin helping guide at the top and I assume I can pull up the default skin and modify it then save the newly modified skin in its place, but where do I find this default skin file if Minecraft is brower based? Do I need to Pre-Purchase to have access to this file and folder?

I understand this is meant to be an Alpha and I could live with the loss of my map, but if there was any way at all to back it up I'd love to know how. Thanks.
