Then let me ask you this: What does beta mean to you?

Throughout minecraft's current existence, we've been playing from Indev all the way to beta. In a technical sense, we're all testers of the game. How can you test if content is not given to you to perform said testing? If Notch will not give us an early release to scan and report bugs, what good are we as beta testers? If we purchase the game though we're not getting early content to check for bugs, then we're ordinary customers.

We are getting content early. The game doesn't "officially come out" until November.

But that's only an estimate and may change. We do not know when during the day, the update will be out, but probably in the evening (central european summer time).

September 8 was only a GUESS. They never said it was for sure coming out this Thursday.

Now, it seems to me that a lot of people in here are dissapointed because they have to wait a little bit longer. More specifically, they have to suffer through one more week of... school. You will not die if you don't get 1.8 this week. You can, and WILL survive just ONE more week of school, and then you will get the 1.8 update. :chestfront:

Also: lol, release the updates early and don't look for bugs! that's our job as beta testers! lol!
next day: OMFG 1.8 IS SOOOOOOO BUGGGGY WHY U NO FIX BUGS????

The "beta" isn't ready yet. DEAL WITH IT

Im not complaining. They look good.

If you really want to, you can probably get a texture pack that doesn't have the snout. It should be possible since you can remove the nose/mouth part on the wolf through the skin png.

posted a message on When 1.8 comes out what are you doing first?
The first thing I will probably do is look for an NPC village. I wish I had not seen the Millenare mod or whatever it's called because now I want NPC villages to be like that, and they probably wont be like that. I pretend that Mod doesn't exist so I can appreciate the new NPC villages more.

Then I will wait a few hours and check the Wiki for a complete changelog, and proceed to go over said changelog and enjoy all the new features added to the Vanilla game.

Then I will update my server.

    Sometime after PAX.

If I had to guess, I would say either September 1, or September 8.

posted a message on An Interview With Jeb!
    My post from another thread...

The only issue I have with this interview is when the interview took place. If it took place yesterday, that's bad because PAX is less than a week away and they haven't got a good grip on NPCs yet, or the XP system. We could be sitting here for another month with no 1.8.

There was no mention of rivers in the interview so I think the interview took place more than a week ago. <--- Speculation.

posted a message on Bethesda, Mojang & "Scrolls"
There are many topics about this on the Bethesda forums, elder forums ect which are all locked because "you cant discuss legal matters there". They don't tell you why, other than you can't do it.

It's so they can cover their ass. Thankfully they don't delete the posts, but instead lock the threads.

    scrolls. sue me.

    Anyways,

    Quote from Mister Cloak »
I don't normally read this thread, I just skim it because most of it is just people complaining about things they haven't played with yet. I did, however, want to point out for Ovus, considering their supreme dislike for the village buildings, that at the time Notch posted the first photo, he did say that they were a work in progress and the building design was not final.

I know it is asking a lot, but how about, instead of spending a seemingly monumental amount of energy hating everything we see about the next update, we put that energy toward something productive which may take our minds off of the negative thoughts running through our heads and allow us all time to chill and wait for something to actually be released before going off about it? I know it might have a detrimental effect on your post counts but once something does get released, you may then complain to your hearts desire. To do otherwise is to tantamount to dressing oneself as a fool when something which you have complained bitterly about on these forums is, dare I say it, actually ENJOYABLE and not at all like how you complained it was going to be.

I know I am probably wasting my time posting this because, let's face it, 140 pages will swallow this post quite easily. Aside from that, I'm reasonably certain that any complainer who does read it will completely disregard this post, or call me a Notch fan boi, or try to rationally explain their irrational dislike for whatever unreleased feature is being added to the game. Heck, they may even do all of the above! Anyway, just thought we needed (yet another) voice of reason to speak up in some misguided effort to prove that the Minecraft community isn't completely ungrateful.

:Notch: Nice post. Sadly most of the people who browse these forums will have no idea what you just said.
