Alright guys, to prove my point above, I downloaded the map and low and behold:
At the end of the minecart section there is human spawner in the next test area. It is close enough to the wall to spawn in the minecart section. Notice the human in the spawner. If you turn it to peaceful, they don't spawn.
the minecraft guy doesnt have the tools to make lightbulbs. torches are easy to make.

A sort of pseudo-lightbulb could be created that doesn't use electricity at all. One example could use a frosted jar with a strip of burning magnesium inside (creating white light), and the only thing that makes this implausible is the quick rate at which magnesium burns.
Lightbulbs could work that way if notch created a metal that burns like magnesium, but at a slower rate. Good idea sir.
(knowing this since i half-blind myself every day burning magnesium in my chemistry set)
