If you allow spawning of the required redstone materials on the server, I can build you anything out of redstone.

    Automatic pison doors
    Auto-cooked porkchop farm
    auto-reed farm
    auto-wheat farm
    auto-mushroom farm
    auto cobblestone generator
    hidden pitfall traps
    hidden walls
    light switches
    minecart dispenser
    flaming arrow traps
    tnt traps
    flooding lava room trap

    etc etc..

Well I made this in 5 minutes for you

The advantage of this is that I've wired it so that all the 5x5 pistons can be activated and deactivated by a single input.

Here's another from the top showing the pistons extended.

Seriously though, it doesn't take that long just to walk up some stairs, and if it does, then deal with it, because like you said you don't really have many other options.

Way to encourage creativity and ingenuity. I'm sure your perfectly functional dirt house is very pretty.

Hi there. I met Mr. Burrows around on the server and he was nice enough to show me this thread :smile.gif:

I've been playing the "World in the air" seed mostly in singleplayer for a long time, and after revisiting the forums, I realized there there is a SMP server for it. That's great!

Sadly, where some of my base was in singleplayer, it is covered by other people, so I can't simply rebuild my base haha.

Anyway enjoy some of my random Pig farm videos! I would be interested in building one on your server!

Thanks,i took this concept and improved it, heres my improved version:

I took your design and implemented a double piston design so that it completely pushes pigs through the lava. Pigs that clip through the piston cook while clipping and when they die, the porkchop falls into the collection area. Any pig that survives, gets killed by the fall damage and their porkchops get pushed into the collection stream.

Much better than the older over-engineered design I had. Now efficiency is about 80%. I'm quite happy with it. It's fast too.

I would like the world save, ive been trying to make something like this for a while now, but the timing is a bit off, link plzz?

The redstone wiring is messy because it's mainly trial and error, so I don't have the exact shematics for it :S

I kinda already made this, except it is a toaster.

It takes in pigs and launches cooked pork out toaster style.

That's a pretty awesome design. It sucks that Notch made pistons unable to propel items that high compared to the mod :sad.gif:

Burning pigs have been dropping cooked porkchops for quite a while now, which was what inspired this contraption :smile.gif:

He used a mob spawner. Probably not legitly, but it's actually possible to get a pig spawner legitly. I believe if a mob spawner is exposed to sunlight, it becomes a pig mob spawner. I may be mistaken, though.

I used a mob spawner, which you can't get legitimately, but I have opted to use it in this video to test the machine and to save recording time.
In reality, you could build a large lighted grass platform where pigs spawn, and have water push them into the machine itself.

Hmm, I like it. I think I might try one, but using netherrack and fire.

I've actually tried it, unfortunately pistons put out fires when they move netherrack or when they move on top of it.

Lava seems to be the only viable one for me since the lava can move back and fourth to reset the flammable area for the pigs.

Hi everyone. I've been doing some testing to make a fully automated cooked porkchop test of concept machine. I've made it in a way where there is one collection area together with a somewhat consistent porkchop yield.

The basic concept is to have a piston break the lava as soon as it covers the piston. This allows for minimal contact of the pig with the lava and the pig is pushed out of the lava into the collection room to die.

So far efficiency is tagged at about 60%. There is a small problem with pigs clipping the pistons a bit, I'll try to figure out a solution for it.

Here's a video of the concept:

Let me know if you'd like the world save to see the machine for yourself. It's a messy unimpressive world though.

    Update:
Here's Version 2.0, props to KabouterPlop for initial design idea.
