Hello and this is my 2nd mod i made. It is very simple.

    ...

I was not expecting so much hate posts... :sad.gif:

You weren't expecting to see the response that occurs on nearly every other thread from a novice modder? That's foolishness. You've gotten the response that compares with the scope of your mod.

While it's unfortunate that you haven't yet developed the skills that others have, your work is going to be judged against what others have done. Don't take this to mean you should stop trying, just that you're going to need to be satisfied with your own feelings of accomplishment while learning to make more complex mods.

One thing I must say though, at least you got the title formatted correctly. It's somewhat sad that doing that alone is enough to impress me.

And the same to you, good sir! iamsudge's error report didn't mention autoassign at all, so he wouldn't have known to read the section in the EAQ about autoassign.

    This observation is correct.

    However the syntax of:
    Quote from iamsmudge

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Slot 150 is already occupied by eloraam.machine.BlockMachine@3b48a8e6 when adding buildcraft.factory.BlockMiningWell@1f48b272
    Thanks in advance

Means that it was Buildcraft that ran into the error and he never should have posted here in the first place. :tongue.gif: Unfortunately, BC doesn't explicitly say "One of the blocks I was using is now took and I don't want to mess up your world" like RP does, so you don't know that is what has happened.

The post in question has an error stating 'unable to add block'

My own error states ' Slot 150 is already occupied'

Now these may be the same problem. But as I stated in my first post. I'm not familiar with this stuff. Perhaps you need some work on your comprehension and text analysis. And finally, my initial response included thanks, more than once. I was grateful. I am equally grateful to you for giving me, however grudgingly, a few more titbits to look into. If you want accuse me of something, it should be sarcasm, not lack of gratitude.

It is the same problem. It's a different error because he's using another mod that tries to avoid running into this problem. It's the second most common error when using MC mods.

I've got some comparative logic for you.

I stepped in a cow pat once. I didn't like it. I still see a lot of cow pats, but I avoid stepping in them.

Now let's compare that to you continuously having to respond to all these terrible questions.

Do you choose to spend significant amounts of time in pastures? Do cows frequently invade your home? Are you privy to visits with cow-like aliens? It's not difficult to avoid cows and thus avoid the risk of stepping in cow pats. Now let's see you avoid arguments on the internet...

You get the same weird behavior with stairs, which is a vanilla block.

But, but, but....with micro-blocks you notice it! Which obviously means it should be reported.

I don't understand why a mod that doesn't use modloader is a GOOD thing.

It's not, it's basically a giant sign saying "don't bother looking" and after looking, I'd wished I chosen not to read it.

I'll admit that there's some courage required to post a mod for others to use and respond to, but "It's my first mod" is nothing more than an excuse if the mod in question has no value. Perhaps a course of action would be to not release your first mod and instead wait until you have something more impressive to display before posting.

I wouldn't go out of my way to post this here, but you've drawn my attention because you've failed to correctly format your title, and by doing so shown that you either need help to understand what you're doing or correction to show you what you've done wrong.

On another note, would it be possible for blocks from other mods to be made compatible with the covers? I use Pam's Earthcraft/Woodcraft and would love to be able to use colored wood and bricks for covering my wiring. Not to mention, for better flooring. I love carpet covers on top of wood or stone covers for 1 block thick cieling/floors.

Oooooh, let's see if I can guess this correctly. I believe it would be quite possible for the cover system to create microblocks out of otherwise simple blocks from other mods. However it would be something that would be handled by an API, so it's definitely something you're not going to see very soon. So Eloraam's going to say something along the lines of "Yes, It's possible" and wisely choose to not say that she's already had this planned. Provided we never bring it up again, it just might happen too.

edit: Keyboard ate again. Totally not me thinking too fast to keep up with my typing.

can anyone help me with my retriever dilema though?
    see above

No, nobody can help with it because you've said nothing more then "it doesn't work". If you want someone to help you solve you problem you need to describe it in detail or provide pictures of the setup because there's quite likely 6.02x10^23 solutions (get it? it's a pun) to the possible problems that it could be.

edit:It seems my keyboard has begun to eat words I know I typed again. This requires further study.

Is there some way to produce a redstone current within a microblock that I'm missing? I'm trying to build lights into the ceiling, but I can't seem to get a signal to them without exposing a torch or lever. Ceiling is one block width, and also doubles as the floor of the room above, so space is..limited.

No, there isn't. You can only hide the transmission of red stone signal withing a floor-ceiling. However it is possible to use a corner and a logic tile to conceal it.

Any update on a TMI patch for 1.1?

That EAQ should be updated to state that even though it has an API, TMI is never going to work with RP and that the user should accept that they have to upgrade to NEI.

Of course this means that the question "i Gots NEI but i stil can't see teh itums" and it's answer "Get the RP module" will also need to be added.

Me agin. It appears I've found out what was causing that error. It seams whenever I put Buidcraft 3.1.3, the wires I put down are gone, or they are there but I can't put any down without crashing it! I've tried the old 2.2.12 buildcraft, same thing happens. It just does not work with buildcraft anymore! even though I rememeber using them both before.. but now it's not.
I still get the same error:

    mod_dynamiclights v1.1 MCP

Took me a while to find this because I had to download most of the mods I was unfamiliar with because the authors don't bother to mention which base files they mod. It's impossible to find incompatibility without actually looking at them.

While I have not doubt AtomicStryker has put effort into his creations, he doesn't seem to care about compatibility. Installing dynamiclights is what is breaking your MC.

--edit: didn't see the note about using forge (i.e. BC, RP2, Railcraft) requires optifine...ugh so that means updates will require a wait for modloader, modloaderMP, forge and optifine. But them's the price you pay for getting what you wants.

Got this error on random occasions. First I tried placing down your wires and then it just crashes, and sometimes it crashes after I log into a world, after a while too while just doing something completely different..
I don't know if it's your mod doing something or somethign else completely but this error is gettign really annoying!
    Here's the full error:

    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: vq.isBlockSolidOnSide(IIII)Z

Nope it's not RP's error, it's a classic ID-10t installer error that show up when mods haven't been correctly installed. Your Forge files are broken and I know that error can be generated from either Railcraft or RP2.(and soon IC2)

@eloraam would it be possible to make the lamps clear bedrock fog, the same way that sunlight does? I know there are mods that remove fog, but I don't want to completely remove it. I just want the option on my server to allow people to proactively clear the fog in areas where they want to.

The fog is generated by the lighting engine when there isn't clear line to the sky. There's nothing that can be done about that except by using a mod that changes the lighting engine. Had Notch not made it abundantly clear that he loathes the idea of a usable lighting system with the 1.0.0 changes, I'd still have hope that this would be possible. Alas, it's just not a feature that I could see being added with existing block mechanics without creating all kinds of other problems.

Ok so I understand that the rubber trees and volcanoes are undergoing changes soonish. But I couldn't find anything about light levels under rubber tree canopies. Right now not enough sunlight gets through them to burn up mobs. This is really only an issue in the early game, before you are properly equipped. But I was still wondering if there are plans to let more sunlight pour through the canopy? And also, what is the easiest way to remove the trees, and are there plans to make an easier way to remove them?

Are you also seeking a solution for the mobs that pour out of caves? I ask because I've had more problem with those early on then rubber tree-spawned mobs. Good News! I've found that torches work to solve both problems!

Easiest way? Hug the :SSSS: that spawn under them then :tnt: the rest of the tree.

    Bug report!
Crafting cobblestone jacketed cables will result into a cobblestone block , not the jacketed cable , i havn't tested for all materials , but white wool works fine , giving the idea its just cobblestone or a few others.
    End of bug report!

Okay, I'll admit that I was wrong to dismiss this, as it seems that there's two recipes being generated for:
    :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
    :cobblestone: :_: :cobblestone:
    :cobblestone: :cobblestone: :cobblestone:
with the slab as a cable and cobblestone covers. First recipe yields the jacketed cable and shows up in all crafting guides, second yields cobblestone and doesn't seem to show up any of them.
