You know what I would feel if someone walked into my home and stole my stuff? Stupid. Because it would be my own fault for playing on a HARDCORE server where I knew there were no locks on chests and not hiding my freaking chests. And don't start on "They'll still find my chests waah waah" Because I have played on actual hardcore servers for the past three months, where if you got stolen from, it was your own damn fault. You know how many times I got stolen from? Once. Because after the first time, I hid my chests. And then I trapped my hidden chests. And I made decoy chests. I got smarter. And you know what that did for the server experience? It made it much, much better. Now I don't know what your experience is, but I am sure that you are smart enough to hide your chests. And if you aren't, then go play Angry Birds. That, I'm sure, will match your intellectual standards.
If you had a safe in real life would you put a neon sign with your name on it? No, no you wouldn't. Locks can be picked in real life, these locks cannot. And if I really, really wanted to get into your safe, I'd set up thermite charges activated by white phosphorous on your lock. Or, in Minecraft terms, I'd blow the ****er open. I wouldn't do that in real life unless I really, really wanted to get into the safe, or door, or whatever it is, and the same is true for in Minecraft. Of course, removing that ability entirely breaks the RP, especially if we have guns. In the course of human evolution, the explosive charge came before the machine gun. And we have machine guns on this server. And rocket launchers.
And yes, I would expect people to build their homes out of obsidian. The RP reason is that there are jerkoffs running around with TNT, who want to destroy my home.
And yes, he can remove the chest. But not before I, and everyone else on the server has to stare at the damn thing until he gets around to it. And don't you think that a chest that only something with power equivalent to that of a god could remove is just a little bit of a break in the RP?
Now please, please think before you respond again, because I have better things to do than argue with someone who isn't even going to put thought into their counter-argument.
You could change something to make the experience better for everyone. And they will argue about it now, but trust me, it will make their experience better. Just make this small, easy change, and I'm sure that you won't regret it.

I think you need to realize that this server is a ROLEPLAY SERVER, not a hardcore server. If you have a problem with that leave and stop trolling.
Lockette doesn't prevent that at all. It allows people to lock their chests. You can't eat a sign. And if you lose your stuff... It's a "Hardcore" server. That doesn't mean "Oooh you lost your stuff I'm so sorry, here's some more," that means "You got blown up? Looks like you should haave built your house out of obsidian. Now go try again." And greifing is when you destroy someone's stuff for the sole purpose of trolling them. Greifing is not when you want to get into an iron door so you blow it up. A griefer would simply destroy the entire house.
Both of these entirely destroy the immersion also, because having chests with people's name on them that are impossible, and I mean IMPOSSIBLE, to get into is ridiculous. It'd be like if you couldn't starve to death. Completely destroys the RP. Especially because people will start to leave them around. There is already an abandoned chest in the spawn town with a sign on it that will never leave the spot.

Herbes vision dimmed as he saw the building in flames. Fire. Fire is not good he thought. He stumbled as he tried to make his way to the building. It was his temporary home that he was residing in while he conducted some research on the most efficient way to farm wheat. All the work, all the research, down the drain in a matter of seconds.
A group of raiders had snuck into his house, and looted the place and set the rest on fire. Herbes had got up to the group a they were making their escape. He strangled them to death with his vines making them pay for their actions. In the process two of his vines were cut off, and they were now bleeding profusely. They would grew back ina few months but for right now, the searing pain was too much for Herbes to endure. He succumbed to the darkness.

His love for this couple greatly outweighed his love for his own parents, and he decided to forgo the use of a last name as he did not want to be identified with his parents. He lived his life semi-happy. He had food ad a roof over his head but he yearned for adventure. After his 18th birthday he left home to explore the wastes. He traveled from place to place never spending more than a year at the locations. One day while exploring an abandoned village, he happened upon an old world textbook. This book explained the many properties of red stone and how to use it effectively. This book became Sawyer's most prized possession and treated it with the best of care. As of present day he is age 25 and is headed for New Commensia to see what lies in the city.

Sawyer wiped the sweat off his brow as he squinted into the sunlight. "That dumb ***** betrayed me," he thought to himself. "I can't believe I trusted her. She stole all my meds". He kept a brisk walking pace as he followed a beaten dirt trail that hopefully would lead him to New Commensia where he could have another fresh start. Hopefully this time he wouldn't screw up. Three times already someone backstabbed him and countless other time he just angered the wrong people.
Voices drew his attention. He then realized. Raiders! He then pulled out a special contraption of his. It was a cylinder wired so that when he threw it it would explode on impact causing smoke to drift out of it. As soon as he heard the raiders scramble to see what happened, he took off at a full sprint for the nearby forest. The raiders noticing him started to fire their weapons at him. Thankfully they all missed and Sawyer was able to escape into the forest where he would hide until the threat was gone.
