    Ummm.... so, don't buy it.

This looks nice. Don't have a chance to download it now but I've checked out the screenshots that 4J have posted. I was a bit disappointed in the plastic one, but this seems on the money. I'll be picking this up for sure.

I think the less said about the ME mash-up in future, the better. This, on the other hand, looks quite good. Looks a bit different but you still know what's going on around you. I'm interested to see what the Natural Pack looks like. Is that being released after the plastic one or at the same time?

Regarding texture packs being either "Survival" or "Creative". I think some of you are stuck up on semantics too much. I don't consider the ME Mash-up to be viable in a purely "Survival" world just because, as others have said, the look of the blocks don't bear any relation to their actual source or use. That doesn't mean that some of you won't use it in Survival, but I do think it lends itself much more readily to a creative build.... so long as that build is something sci-fi related.

Yep, this is how I do all my minecrafting. All you need is a guest account set up and you're away. All skins and inventories are saved. The only weird thing that sometimes happens is that the "guest" player occasionally spawns on top of the house directly above the bed for some reason. But, as stated, you do need to be running the game through an HDMI cable, but you should already be doing that.

Oh Jeezzz.... stop the world, I want to get off. Seriously. I'm so tired of the term "Bullying". Some of you guys really need to suck it up a bit. I hate to think what type of people this teenage generation is going to grow up to be. A bunch of whiny, pant-wetters who cry to mummy if someone hurts their feelings. If your whole world goes to bits over what someone may have done to you in a video game, then you're going to have a very hard time dealing with actual life. Society needs to stop pandering to this. For gods sake, teach your kids to show some internal fortitude. Life gets a lot harder out in the real world.

Even mentioning things such as rape and murder in the same sentence as griefing in minecraft is evidence of how little actual life experience some of you people have.

Next time someone griefs your minecraft world, how about instead of flying into a juvenile rage and screaming for your mother, you instead consider some of the hardships and suffering humanity has endured throughout history and try and gain a little perspective. Your child has not just been murdered, you have not been forced from your home at gunpoint, you have not been sent to death camps to be gassed and buried in a ditch.

Kick & ban the person, then revert to an earlier save. How hard is that?

And for the love of humanity, SUCK.IT.UP!!

"Griefing in the minecraft is as bad as stealing or vandalism in the real world and should be punished accordingly. That is not a joke. I'm a landlord and have my real world property griefed sometimes and I feel as strongly about minecraft griefing as I do about rental property griefing. I have had to call the sheriff and take people to court in the real world and if I could I would not hesitate to do the same to griefers of the minecraft."

IAMBaldur888, you sound serious, but surely you can't be. I can't believe that anyone who feels this way also has the earning capacity to purchase an investment property. Someone burning down your investment property causes real and actual financial hardship upon you. Nothing you can build in minecraft has any worth in the real world. You will not default on your mortgage repayments because someone steals your diamonds in minecraft. Seriously dude. Can you imagine calling your lawyer or the sheriff and asking for someone to be arrested or charged for putting a bucket a lava down in the middle of your house in minecraft. I've read some incredibly stupid things on these forums, but this takes the chocolates.

    Quote from UpUp_Away95

I think you need to do some studying up on copyrights and trademarks internationally before you go spouting off things like "Even if there is they only need to be changed slightly to side-step this issue." That's a common myth.. Changing something slightly does not necessarily mean that you haven't infringed on someone's elses copyrights. Having an exact replica of something doesn't necessarily mean that you have. If you don't believe me:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright

"Copyright law recognises the right of an author based on whether the work actually is an original creation, rather than based on whether it is unique; two authors may own copyright on two substantially identical works, if it is determined that the duplication was coincidental, and neither was copied from the other."

Oh geez..... gotta laugh when someone quotes directly from wikipedia then instructs someone else to brush up on their knowledge. Good luck walking into the Supreme Court with your wikipedia quotes. Copyright law is really very vague and full of grey areas. The law states that the onus is on the plaintiff to prove that your work was copied directly. How does one prove that? Almost impossible. Why do you think Chinese car manufacturers get away with blatantly ripping-off other manufacturer's designs by changing the name and styling just enough to satisfy the law, but still so little that the two product are virtually identical. Maybe the BMW and Rolls Royce legal teams didn't get their degrees from Wikipedia University like you.

Nobody in 4J Studios position is ever going to just blatantly rip off another design. Why bring so much legal heat on themselves for so little gain? But if it is given away freely, they receive no profit from the product and they attribute the design to the original creator then I'm not sure what can be done to stop it. Either way, like I said, it's a douchebag move. Far better to simply get the original creators permission to use their design.

I'm not even certain they need their permission. As far as I can tell, keeping in mind I'm no lawyer, they're in the public domain and there is no copyright on them. Even if there is they only need to be changed slightly to side-step this issue. This is a douchebag move for sure but I'm certain it's possible. They were, afterall, given away freely in the first place and made available to anyone who cared to download them. Much the same as people write mods for minecraft due to it's open-source nature and Mojang doesn't sue them. Whether or not 4J charges money for them, and therefore profits, from someone else's work may be a different story. A lawyer may argue that all 4J Studios must do is add a notation that "So-and-so" is responsible for the creation of this texture pack.

posted a message on Mash-Up Packs are not Title Updates, why are people discussing them here?
I think the forums are over-segregated as it is. You already need to click into 3 or 4 different sections to look for posts. I don't think we need another. Maybe this section needs to be re-named "Discussion of Future Updates" or something. The mods will forever be moving posts to other sections, which they already are. I don't see any good reason not to just have 1 or maybe 2 sections for MC360.

Yeah, the End is a worthless addition. I know they got it on PC and we got it in an equivalent update, but it wasn't very well received on PC in the first place and it doesn't add much on the 360 either. I've only bothered to kill the dragon twice and the second time only took 5 or 6 minutes. I'd prefer if the dragon was unleashed in the overworld and you had to track it down and kill it in an underground lair somewhere. Otherwise the XP is nice, I guess. I have thought about building an Enderman farm in the End for the XP but other than that it serves no purpose. I can rack up XP pretty quick by gearing up and slaying mobs in the night anyway.

Yeah, I would love this but I can't see it happening. Maybe a simple electricity mod with coal-fired engines and some basic machinery is technologically possible on the 360. Or maybe something like tree breeding with 20 or 30 tree species with different wood textures. I like the idea of having to work to get some new textures plus it would be interesting and provide something new besides simply surviving.

I play exclusively survival and once I get a nice house built and a farm there's not much challenge left. I do build things like redstone doors and mob grinders, but once that's done what next? In my current world I have two double chests full of coal and nothing to use it on. I just walk right past things like coal and iron while caving now because I can't possibly use what I already have. And don't get me started on lapis. I mine the stuff just for the XP then just dump it in the nearest lava pit I can find. Not even worth carrying. Why not some lapis wiring that transfers electricity or something. It doesn't even need it's own texture, just make the restone wire texture blue and modify it behaviour.

How about a mod that makes everything very scarce so you need to work hard to get iron for armor or coal for torches. To be honest, I think "Hard Mode" should already be like this. "Hard Mode" isn't actually very hard at all. If there were another level above "Hard" I would play only that.

I am looking forward to things like hoppers, if we even get them.

Wow, that's interesting. My eyesight is not the best, but I can spot ore at the bottom of a ravine if there is enough light. I do sometimes mistake diamond for iron, which has been a source of great disappointment for me in the past when I have spent 20-30min cutting a stairway to the bottom of a ravine for nothing! I never knew anyone had this problem.

I've seen a few people post this. I haven't downloaded the mash-up, but I can't work out how this is so. I have no problem spotting iron or coal or whatever else as it is. How can you spot it any easier? And spotting it's not the problem, it's getting to it and mining it. Am I missing something here?

"Anyway race for wool maps? why cant u just make ur own, not too difficult. we need maps with super high creativity, to the level that professionals have."

You're right, it's probably not too difficult. And I certainly would at least attempt to make one myself if I could upload it to a server somewhere and be able to play against other people. It won't be much fun if I know where all the traps are and the way to get around all the obstacles, nor will it be much fun if it's just me and my girlfriend playing with no option to play against randoms. Plus, the beauty of user-made maps is other people have ideas that you've not thought of. It's easy just to copy someone else's creations, but it's a different thing entirely to download a map not knowing exactly what it's about and exploring.

"You know the game can run on toasters right? Sure, it's unoptimized but it certainly doesn't need the power it takes to run new AAA games on Ultra."

Yep, this is true. But I see little point in saving $300 - 400 on costs and having a new PC which will be outdated in the next 12-24 months. Plus, I live in apartment and don't have room for another computer desk + chair, etc. Unless I sacrifice our lounge, and I can't see my gf agreeing to that. And anyway, given the option of spending $600 - 800 building another PC in addition to the one I already have or spending that money to go on a holiday somewhere, well - that's an easy decision. Even if I only spend $500 on a PC, that's still an awful lot of money just to play 1 game. I love Minecraft but no game is worth that.

The biggest weak-point with Minecraft on 360 is the lack of servers. I consider this a crucial problem. The 360 version has developed more than sufficient revenue to support servers. I would love it if I could load up Minecraft and have the option on the menu screen to drop into a game of "Walls" or whatever. It would give the game a lot more variation than simply playing the same game but pretending I'm in Halo and that my bow isn't a bow but is an energy rifle, even though it functions just like a normal bow. I'm 32 years of age, not 7.

You don't need to be a savant to see that we'll get a run of these mash-up packs based on various game licences. Skyrim will most likely be next (which actually may include a quite good texture pack) and who knows what else. But you can be sure there will be 5 - 10 of these things.

As I said, I understand a lot of you are excited by this, but I can't help but feel the excitement will be short-lived when you realise it's just the same game with the same mechanics and the same mob AI and the same crafting and the same goals (ie build shelter, gather resources and survive). I will definitely play the trial of the mash-up pack, but unless it provides something new in terms of gameplay then I won't be terribly interested.
