Jan 21, 2011Compare this to the earliest creative generators, which managed only rolling hills and wildly varying plateaus. I think the generator is pretty good now, but yes, the bigger the mountains, the better! :biggrin.gif:Posted in: Discussion

2. IDK. We are glad he made the game, now he made the game he stopped, and we modders continued develment.
What? I never heard that Mojang stopped development on Minecraft? Why just today he said there would be an update on Thursday with lots of cool stuff!
Jan 10, 2011I decided to make this topic to counter the constant bashing threads that are propagating like rabbits on this forum.Posted in: Discussion
I always dislike the way that people seem to think that Notch can't take his time on the game. The reason why he's so slow is because he's got a company running, and as he's been saying, lots of crap has been going on.
It's not like modders who just code little things in their spare time, on the line of the Seecret Friday updates. Mojang have to worry about updating the game engine, working out a release schedule for the game, work on fixing their office, hiring people, having a camera crew around, their other secret game, and mountains of other crap.
Sure modders put out more content than Mojang does, but they make the base that the modders build off of, and without them holding the community modding effort together, the game would just be a mess of incompatible mods and garbage. Like the way that some modders made rideable mounts, wasn't notch the one that made the code for pig mounts, and indeed the one who made mobs work in the game in the first place?
Jan 7, 2011For those of you trying to combat mentions of Maniac Digger with the mention of how Notch was inspired by Infiniminer... I used to play infiniminer all the time before Minecraft came around. It was almost completely different. In Infiniminer the world is basically a big hollow cube floating in space which you can fall out of. The gravity was lower and you could fall half the map and not die. It was very high definition, but only had dirt, rock (in tiny patches), somewhat buggy lava, banks, blue and red blocks and force fields, jumping blocks, ladders, and asphalt. The game pitted red and blue in an attempt to get enough money to win the game, and the map was tiny. It was updated 5 times in all, after which the game was abandoned by the creator. Not to mention that the characters were 2d sprites.Posted in: Discussion
Now let's look at Minecraft. It has... a ridiculous amount of blocks compared to Infiniminer, infinite, earthly maps, a mideval theme, crafting mechanics, monsters, a focus on building things, good and balanced (mostly) damage systems, a fair lava AND water system, the list goes on and on.
The games, also, were coded in two different languages. All in all, Notch was INSPIRED by Infiniminer, but Infiniminer can now only compare to Minecraft's first version, Cave Game. Now compare this to Manic Digger, which is basically a retextured Minecraft in its entirety.
Nov 26, 2010Well, it's really hard to visualize four-dimensional shapes because we're only used to three dimensions.Posted in: Other Fan Art
to give you an idea of the way that the fourth spatial dimension works, here's a hypercube, or a tesseract, a four-dimensional cube.
And also, to give you an idea of the way that it relates, here's a video by Carl Sagan:
Nov 9, 2010Get what through his thick skull? You provided no information which would require the shoving into someone's head. If you think he's such a dumbass, then why don't you at least try to correct him!Posted in: Suggestions
Also, I don't think it actually has an official name (yet?). Just the same way that Redstone didn't originally have a specific name.
Nov 1, 2010Posted in: Alpha - Minecraft Halloween UpdateQuote from Boombastix »IMO Notch should hand this project over to a team that will realize it's potential, or at least has a sense of urgency equal to that of the thousands of paying players
Have you considered having a little patience instead?
Sep 24, 2010Kitkat posted a message on Sk1nSw1tch 1.10- Texture Pack Swapper For MineCraft AlphaWell, whenever I try to use any of the included skins, the game stops the little loading bar at "done loading" and never actually enters the game.Posted in: Mods Discussion
EDIT: The importer doesn't seem to work either.
