Nov 3, 2010I like your idea, albeit the fact that it's a bit too original for me (I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that I've gotten bored of playing the typical grinding and simplistic economy MMORPGs.) What I was looking towards, was to have a dynamic world shaped by the players, where economy, politics, and society, would be more important than tradintional PVP or clans. I'm not saying no, but if you'd like to say something, feel free to send me a PM.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer Discussion
Nov 3, 2010Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer DiscussionQuote from Disierd2 »Sounds gd, I'll join once ive joined xfire, maybe u should let every1 here build their own city/town/village so you can have a train going through the whole 'country' then it would really be like a rpg
If I do, every village will have 1 player. Then it will no longer be a village. Then what will we do with a train?
@Icksel, Xfire is mandatory I'm afraid.
Everyone else, please sign up at www.rsas.enjin.com, and post in the Minecraft forum. Otherwise, I will forget you on the server and forget to whitelist.

For everyone else, I still require Xfire. We're currently looking for someone to RP as a communist, and be the chairman of a small farming village. (Farms already created and irrigated.)
Oct 30, 2010Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer DiscussionQuote from Cradlex »Multiplay.co.uk is probably the cheapest host you can find. I host my own server there with 10 slots for 10 euro/month. And the server is up like 1min after you paid. Also they use hey0 btw. : )
I totally agree
Oct 30, 2010The server is running Hey0’s with CraftBooks, DSMail, LocalChat, DalaSetHomes, and SessionProtectPosted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer Discussion
Players can build wherever they pleased. Admins won’t intervene on an administrative level (exceptions of course). Rather, it is up for society to decide. A city can decide to tax you on that land, and if you don’t pay, they’ll come and burn your shack down and kill anyone in it. The stronger party holds ownership until contested. Of course, you might wonder, what will stop a city from simply pillaring every chunk on the map? By holding more territories, it means you have to survey more territory at the same time; it costs more manpower and resources. Other cities will also try to bring you down because they wouldn’t want you to capitalize and eventually become significantly stronger. Most of the time, no one will stop you from building your abomination of a cabin in the middle of the ocean.
You can thieve and grief all you want. We have a system of credit rating, in which the more you fail to keep up your business transactions, or if people start suspecting you, you lose rating. If the rating goes all the way down to E (or F I think), you’re banned from the server. The server is also whitelisted, and I’m thinking of making the server contribution based. Generally, it’s safer to build in a city since the city usually maintains a police force to look after griefing, (Police Chiefs get access to tools for determining who edited which block in a certain area.) Of course, cities also usually charge taxes, so some people would rather live inside a cave.
Oct 26, 2010I've purchased a dedicated server (18 slots atm, booked for 6 months), and I've started building a city on it. I've planned for the server to be an economy based RP, with real world monetary imitations (not just having a currency). Unfortunately, it isn't possible to have a real world economy with just one city. There has to be hard to get resources from hard to reach places to make it interesting. There has to be demand from various places to create jobs and new currency. There has to be different parties and politics. Besides, one city would be pretty boring to visit all the time. So, at first I was considering having players build all the cities and everything, but I'm sure that having a completely public, or even a white-listed server would enable us to have any majestic structures, or organization.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer Discussion
Instead, I'd like to enlist the help of a few volunteers to build two more cities in faraway regions. Some basic materials (500 cobble, wood etc) and currency will be provided to get you started. All future mats will have to be gathered or purchased. You will have to construct a city, and also it's government, it's policy, it's culture etc. When you are done, you can choose what position you occupy in the city, and live out the RP. The builders also automatically get VIP and have high chances of becoming moderators. They also start off which much more RP currency and influence in the server.
What I require of you:
Sense of architecture (Not much, just the basics. Don't just build 2x2 wood plank houses.)
Understanding of basic economic, social, and political concepts
That you install Doku's texture mod. Structures MUST look good with this texture pack (default fire and water)
A caring and generous personality, as well as good virtues and morals
What I require of the city:
A proper location: Build near water, or near a cave network. Please do not build on a mountain because other than limited defense (and arguably too), it serves little, and simply causes more work. Besides, the first city is already on top and in a mountain. (The area is decided by me, or at least approved first.)
A town square: A nice town square with aesthetic futures such as fountains, statues, and vegetation, in addition to a town bulletin.
A town hall: Please make a small one, the city starts off small. Besides, don't need to waste resources on something that serves such little purpose.
A barracks: preferably close to the town hall, with ramparts and minimal defensive structures.
A road network: All main buildings and residential areas must be connected.
A marketplace: A small one, the main economic hub will be the first city. All offices and headquarters will also be located in the first city (by the name of Verdun)
A residential area: 5 - 6 small houses. Please no apartments or tall buildings. It's supposed to be a small town, not New York.
A storage hub: A small warehouse where people can store their goods. For this task obsidian will be provided, but the outside has to be covered with cobblestone. Must accommodate at least 12 chests. Hopefully redstone will be less glitchy by the time this project starts, so some type of alarm or security system can be installed. (Stealing and Griefing for RP purposes is allowed.)
A town government: Up to the founder of the town. Can't be extreme in either wing.
Some limited history: Something you'd expect to see on the wikipedia page of a small town.
If you're interested, please add kingarmy1 on Xfire, and visit our website: www.rsas.enjin.com. Please feel free to inquire about anything.
Other than Verdun, One town, Lagonna, has already been founded, but no construction has begun on it. Someone can also take up the task of building that.
Oct 26, 2010Well, your first step would be to learn some basic Java, or even before that, it'd be good to know a markup language like html or other languages such as python. If you'd like to learn a language, you should get a good book from the library, or simply read some tutorials online. Once you know a bit of Java, you should visit http://forum.hey0.net/, and you can get some more help there.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Multiplayer Discussion
