Yeah. Trust me, we want it out as soon as possible. Once the current delay is over, we should have a solution that stops any future delays.

Does the solution involve savage beatings? That's always helped my workflow.

    I lol'd c:

Just sitting here, twiddling my thumbs and waiting. Since you said it could take a few weeks to a few months, do you think you might have it out for christmas? This would be a lovely present to everywun :U

Till then, I'll be occupying my time playing the 1.7.3 one, playing with my 10k block rainbow pit drop :u

its a concept not an actual usable mod. only mojang could implement it

They're making a mod of it for demonstration purposes.

So yes it's going to be an actual mod :)

I read on the upcoming features wiki that Jeb (I think) was going to redo the chunk system but he had a lot of things to complete first. How's that gonna effect things? Also is there a estimated date for when this will be realised as a mod.

They said yesterday (or the day before, not sure) that their estimate for a mod is a week so I'd say 6 days minimum most likely.

Was kinda intrested in the idea, untill i kinda noticed the flaw around the part "making Far render distance possibly laggier than before.", witch makes perfect sense after reading the parts above it.

Bringing me back to the point i wanted to make, i enjoy Far render distance a lot and the extra range optifine adds even more, so id rather not have this into minecraft yet even though it also adds a few things i do see the usefullness of.

Verry intresting project though i have to say, i never before have though and read so deeply about the effect of chunks in a world and why they are actually there in the first place.

You know.. has anyone thought of an eliptical render distance? Like, a separate render distance length and height? You could set render distance to -far- (or further, with optifine-like settings) for length and -normal- or -tiny- for height. Would that not reduce render lag for far distance to at least the same, if not lower, than currently?

That's the problem. I don't have those jars. The earliest backup jar i have is 1.5.2...

The newest launcher downloads it for you!
Edit Profile -> Allow use of "Beta" -> 1.7.3.jar GET

However, seems to be a glitch where it downloads and overwrites each time, so after it downloaded the jar file I switched to magic launcher to install the mod and run it.

Currently at -255y - yes digging straight down ( 2x2 so no lava falling <: )

On a side note, is there a forum topic for the cubic chunks mod currently being programmed? (Not Robinson mod but the new one)

Alright, so here we go again, the second person who has done this (though you actually gave credit, so there is a difference I suppose)

First of all, original topic is here: http://www.minecraft...-modloader-301/

    Second of all, this:
    4. DERIVATIVE WORKS/MODIFICATION
This mod is provided freely and may be decompiled and modified for private use, either with a decompiler or a bytecode editor. Public distribution of modified versions of this MOD require advance written permission of the OWNER and may be subject to certain terms.

Can be decompiled for PERSONAL use.

You were not given permission to update this prior to this post, though I'm flattered someone actually cared enough to update it. Had I been around at the time there is the POSSIBILITY I might have approved you continuing, and gave you the source code, but I did neither of these things and to come back to find THIS is a slight annoyance. You did ask, but I did not reply, (or even see it until today) and being that there was ~12 minutes between your question and the post on my topic I would say you didn't even wait for a response. (10 minutes between your question and posting this topic I might add.)

Thirdly, slime chunks barely matter anymore, due to the fact you can find slimes inside swamp biomes now on the surface, and this tool only works in single player unless you own the server to begin with, so there was very little point in it actually being continued. Maybe if there was a way to catch the seed from multiplayer worlds without /seed it would be viable, but until then.. oh well.

Alright, long absence aside for meow to reply to some of the posts.
    Quote from Mr3nigma

Doesn't install properly can you update this for 1.5.1???

No point in updating this mod, slimes can easily be found above ground AND this only works on single player OR if you are OP and can use the /seed command.

Might get around to editing it, but I'm trying to have the cubic chunks mod revived, which is of far greater importance (extreme or no height limit, reduce lag by a large amount, infinite skies and underground)

Sort-of a pointless, atheistic suggestion that would have no real impact on the game itself and doubt that Mojang would really add such a useless feature (even if it is easy to do)... but support nonetheless. It would be fun to run around as a technically accurate link (though this has probably been said, it deserves restating.)

Off Topic: Mojang isn't considered a word. Tries to auto-correct to mango.

Edit: More likely done as a mod, if/when the modding API comes out.

Can it be used with FML instead of ML?

    When is the update?

It should work with FML, since most modloader mods work with FML

When do you think this will be updated to 1.4.2?

Did you get the memo in the rules? Not suppose to ask for updates.

Updated to 1.3.2 (finally). Sorry for the wait - should work, don't blame me if it doesn't though :P

Requires access to /seed for multiplayer, but multiplayer works again!

In 1.3.1 SMP you are able to use the command "/seed" and then you will get the seed for the world.
This must mean that the servers supply the seed again, which should allow the mod work if updated.

Actually, the servers don't give the seed out - they only send it when you type in the command (if you have the permission to use /seed).

This is how I did it really - The new GUI has a button, you click it, it sends the command "/seed" to the server, and checks for all replies until you get "Seed: ###############". If it doesn't get the seed, you can't find the slimes. If it does, it replicates the slime map in the GUI (mostly working, as I lost the source a third time from a third computer crash - really should have seen this comming.)

Still loving the program mon capitan. Thankyou for making it =D

Making a 10240x5120 map using this. Mostly just a bunch of hills and islands/ocean so far (well, minecraft continents but size-wise they're just islands).

Maybe a suggestion for something: Custom trees (maybe using .schematic files? ;3)

But for now, anyone have an idea on something I can use to make a vast forest of custom trees? (Other than just worldediting in each individual tree.. that would be a pain in the butt for over 2,000-4,000 square meters of land ;P
