Is there a way to remove an upgrade from your items? I currently have an Alumite pickaxe that got auto smelt when I didn't want it. I was planning on replacing the head soon, but considering I got the upgrade i didn't want, I wanted to figure out if I could remove the upgrade or if it's just more useful to replace the pickaxe completely.

Dec 1, 2013I lured it to my base. I went to get a name tag for it, after using half a stack of torches to lead it. I went to where he was, dropped a torch, waited 3 minutes. He despawned.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Edit: False alarm, he was inside the village. I now made a pit for Pete (thought of the name when bringing him back). Now that I think about it, I should of called him Pete the Pick Peck. Also, is it possible to get the items with the gold hand back from him? (I spent 10 diamonds on the pick)
Dec 1, 2013I'm afraid to unpause my game until I figure this out.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I'm using a bit of mods with this one. Two noteworthy mods are Ars Magika 2 and Biomes O Plenty. I was flying around, mapping out the continent to see if the Taint was bad in the whole thing. I dropped my map, and went down to grab it. I grabbed it, and this appeared:
I took a screenshot to make sure it wasn't a Magical Forest biome. It's a Pech Stalker BTW if it changes anything.
Edit: If you see on the minimap, there's a second Pech. I really want to know why they're more common in the Fungi Forest biome than a flipping Magical Forest Biome.
Second Edit: I unpaused and threw my diamond pick at it. I'm going to try to use a lead and get him to my base.

I'm curious about the spawning conditions for the Pechs. Do they only spawn in naturally occuring Magical Forests or will they spawn in Magical Forests created by player-grown Silverwood trees? Also, what light level do they spawn at? I generally try to keep things pretty well lit to keep the mobs at bay, but if they need darkness I guess I'll have to risk it.
They'll spawn in player made Magical Forests. I think it might need a light level of 8 or lower (same as Hostiles), as that was when I seen my only Pech spawn... before walking right into Taintacles and died in front of my eyes.
Nov 30, 2013Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from CaerMasterWhoa. I just had a silverwood form TWO pure nodes.
When I first found a silverwood tree, I thought Nodes would still spawn like they did in TC3. So when I seen the black dots on the trees, since I didn't have my Thaumometer and it was before I made goggles of revealing, I broke it. I didn't realize it was a node block until I was able to get the tree aspect.
I think there might of been buggyness with the look of the taint biome that I found out WAS loaded when I was at my base. On a semi-related note, I need to get more Taint fighting things, and fast.
Quote from Kanjejouthx so i don't have to fear running out of phial ... good good... any tip on getting blaze in the nether... I need some magma cream and blaze rods...
I'd say the wand Focus: Frost should work. I never tested it, but it's the water one, so I believe it'd do more damage to them.
Nov 29, 2013Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from Kanjejouare infused stone a rejenerating ressource or does the world have a finished number of magic ore to mine? becasue all those magic shenanigan consume quite a lot of shards 1 per arcane block that make around a 100 for thz arcane infuser + 2 for each infusion + enchantement + almchemical equipements+salis mundus does the pickaxe of the core detect shards?
Do you mean 1 shard per block, or 1 shard per 9 blocks? Because if it's 1 per 1, there might be a bug on your end.

I deliberately killed myself to see where my spawn was. It's more than 1000 blocks away from my base, and farther than that from the Taint biome. I also went to check, the mineshaft doesn't go close enough for the starting 2 chunks to load. It could be possible what someone said about Tainted Land movement is true. (He said that there's a chance of it choosing a chunk then move, like the fibrous taint, into the chunk)Quote from FarprocIf the taint you found is "near" spawn it could be in a spawn chunk. Spawn chunks are kept loaded at all times which would allow taint, near spawn, to completely overrun the spawn area. The spawn chunks are either a 16x16 or 13x13 (depending on the reference I find) area of chunks around the server spawn point.
Edit: So, I went to make some researches, and I'm pretty sure Ignis isn't the only thing in wand foci.
Nov 28, 2013Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from IStoneItaint doesnt spread, if the afflicted chunk isnt loaded.
So, this is news to me. As I said, I found a tainted land (I think) Saturday. I was there for no more than 1 minecraft day before heading to my base. I also made my house at a completely different Village than the one close by the Tainted Land. I have no idea how it was able to spread from a few chunks to about 12 without it being loaded. When I found it it started as a purple area, and I wondered if the Taint biome from TC2 was added back in. As soon as I realized it was, I stayed away from it. Unless of my mineshaft somehow gets close enough to the Taint, I feel like something VERY odd is going on with that biome.

uhmm.. what I mean is if this has something to do since I have not bought the game.
Quote from KillrBladez
If you haven't bought minecraft, I don't think you can play with mods.
I answered your question already. Anyways, isn't it that you can only have a 1 hour MC world without having bought Minecraft? If that's true (as I believe it was like that since 1.4), then it wouldn't even be worth using mods.
Nov 26, 2013Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from LeadcraftI'm not sure what implausibly contrived series of events will lead to me accidentally hitting that jar with a wand, but it's pretty much bound to happen. While on the topic of infesting everything with taint, how does taint spread work? Is it block by block or chunk by chunk as in TC2? Does the weird fibrous stuff spread the biome, or the other way around?
This, I've been fighting with the taint for awhile. It seems to move one block at a time, but in a weird way too. It goes from Bedrock to sky. It's a line on the Y axis, but moves on the X and Z axis. Same type of effect for Pure Nodes changing areas to magical forest, and the Blooms reverting the land. Though Taint spread has no stopping point. Also, this is from what I've seen, but I believe taint mobs will only spawn in chunks full of Tainted Land.

Sep 26, 2013So, I was playing in the snapshot, heading to get some Sand, and this happened.Posted in: News
Yeah, apparently, zombies can now be angered by Skeletons.
Edit: Also confiming that one of the first shaders are bugged, and is making the screen black.
Sep 20, 2013Posted in: NewsQuote from miner1539
for some reason my starting screen is super small and i can't fix it! Well i guess with all the bug comments Mojang can fix them. After all without us they wouldn't know what the bugs are!
If you mean the screen with singleplayer and those, then not sure. I know the Mojang screen does stay small, often. Also about the bugfixes, I believe they made snapshots so people could find bugs, while the team can have more time adding content and fixing bugs.
Quote from MentalMouse42
I'd be way happier about the shaders if they were controllable, instead of cycling through 15 or 20 options half of which are unplayable.
I think the super secret will turn into a menu, if anything.
Quote from BaccarWozat
Definitely not useless content, but I don't know to what extent I will be using it. It looks a lot like some of the video tricks in Turok 2 on N64 (and therefore also South Park which used the same engine and had some of the same cheats).
But really Dinnerbone? Upside down mode? TV mode?
The stretch maps were much-needed though. Thanks for that!
The upsidedown was expected, considering Dinnerbone's upsidedown-ness.
Sep 14, 2013So I was playing survival in this snapshot, got to the DIAMONDS! achievement. And I seen something that shown diamond boots. I don't know the name, but when you get to the eye of ender achievement, it's above that.Posted in: News
Edit: Another new achievement I seen has a wither skeleton skull, which is after the achievement for defeating the enderdragon.

I have been playing it and it doesn't seem very smooth to me. If I can look off into the distance and see a mineshaft from above ground then it is not done. If I have to stop my boat because I don't really know what's in front of me and I don't want to crash into blocks that haven't loaded yet, then it's not done. What other released games have these problems? None that I can think of. It's more of a beta thing.
I appreciate that they're adding new content, but it's not a substitute for fixing major bugs. And they're adding way too much content. I don't want to have to spend hours researching changes made to the game if I stop playing for a month and then return. I'd rather return to see that the engine was improved, and I'd love it if they made it easier to install and (de)activate mods.
By the way, last I heard they had planned on releasing the mod API back in January. Was that ever done?
They do work on bugfixes. They tried to fix the lighting error, which sorta worked. The only thing is it only works on maximum smooth lighting. Also, they did work on making chunk loading better. The thing is, as new things get added, there are new bugs. That's probably one reason they made snapshots. So people could report bugs, and the people working on minecraft can have more time bugfixing. But if something like the Mesa biome bug from 12w36a wasn't found by the creators when they did a quick test, and they said it was working correctly, how well do you think the community will react? Also, if you think it's easy to do that, you try fixing the lighting engine by yourself, with the basic minecraft lighting engine, in a week. It's not easy to fix a bug like that. They do have bugfixes in each snapshot, and at least some tweaking to get rid of the major bugs. A few of the bugs they got from the snapshots alone that were considered 'huge' were fixed asap. Don't think it's unfair, it's that bugs are easier to get rid of the shorter they exist. That's why the major bugs are major.

i have a bug.. when i eat raw chicken makes me hungry and the super secret settings doesn't work
The super secret button's useless right now. Also, raw chicken has had a 10% chance of giving you the effect WAY before this.
In semi-related news to the snapshot, I made a enderdragon make a cave in a AMPLIFIED world.
Sep 5, 2013They added in a summon command. The way it works is /summon <entityName> [x] [y] [z] [dataTag]Posted in: News
WARNING! You must caps the name of the entity. Aka, if you wanted to spawn the wither, you'd need to put Wither. Also, don't know what the datatag does.

As for all you people complaining about Mojang "stealing" peoples content from mods 1) You are using MOJANG's code it implement your (or others) ideas into their game. 2) I very much doubt Mojang is going into these mods and taking their code which means Mojang is coding these ideas in with their coders by hand so there is no stealing involved. Just because someone has an idea it doesn't mean that nobody else has ever or will ever have that same idea or does it mean that you own that idea unless you get a patent on it. So please stop complaining about how this idea or that has been "Stolen" by Mojang and just enjoy the game.
3) Also until Mojang releases the Modding API all mods are technically illegal, so that means that you cant fully claim it.
4) I'm pretty sure noone who mods Minecraft came up with Skyrim, My Little Pony, Midevil weapons, guns, cats, castles, or anything that you say is a "original idea." In other words Mojang can use things from the mods (that aren't based on another game, a show, etc.) without having to give any credit to the modders.
5) The only mod that HAS original ideas(from all the ones I've seen or even heard about) is Mo Creeps and Weirdos,

Every update always brings out about how Minecraft changed too much or is too X. If Minecraft just stayed the same, people would tire the game and move on to play something else. I wish more games followed Minecraft in terms up adding new things.
And not the Valve way for TF2, two years between updates that are terrible.

Meh, more fluff.. I mean carrots and potatoes? Really.. And flower pots.
Item frames: Good.
Potion of night: Good
Potion of invisibility: Great
But I mean flower pots and these lame new crops? Not good.. Add more features like animals going in the nether, not annoying fluff. + Major bugs from 1.3
Btw, Mojang, we still dont have our promised red dragon and still no use for the enderdragon egg, zombie flesh.. etc..
I have a double chest of ****ing useless zombie flesh, hoping one day that it'll get a use.
At least make it so it can go into leather.
So you don't want to eat the rotten flesh if you need hunger, also, the part for enderdragon egg, it would be cool for that to have a use other than showing you beat the enderdragon.

Nice , I completely did not expect new food...my villages will have more crops to farm now!
The corner stair thingy is a nice little touch as well , finally those spots in roofs wont look wonky anymore...
Now , we just need to be able to collect and place cobwebs in survival mode , sponges should be added back into the game world in ocean biomes , a netherbrick fence gate to go with our nether brick fences...
Awesome work so far , keep it up!
Cobwebs can be picked up with shears, right?
Quote from CK20XX
With the addition of these new crops, I'm thinking that wheat should also yield 1-4 wheat drops just like carrots and potatoes, otherwise it may find itself becoming obsolete.
Yeah, because nobody will use wheat as opposed to food that's hardr to get (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay harder)

I found zombie villagers in a jungle biome and there are no NPC villages around. I guess that's a bug.
It's been a bug in 12w32a that villager zombies randomly spawn due to the fact that it's STILL a zombie (can turn zombies to villagers the same way as zombie villagers)

Just like the old days
Man, that's one big picture.

If you place stone brick next to a cobblestone wall and break it, a silverfish will spawn. I found that out when I was messing about in creative.
EDIT: If you just place a stone brick and break it, a silverfish will spawn. Is this a bug?
Yeah, it was stone brick mob spawner

REALLY BAD BUG IN 1.3.2!!! When ever i make a new 1.3.2 world, save and quit, then reload it, it eaither does a big rollback or erases the world completely! And its just sun and clouds! Please fix this, also im running minecraft on a Windows XP
What does it have to do with the weekly snapshot?
Quote from dittofire1
Jeb, you are a game GOD. Ever since he became in charge of Minecraft, only the best of the best updates have been rolling in. I love the idea of hanging items as decor, flower pots have FINALLY come, and a new boss?! Not to mention freaking invisibility AND night vision...I look back at the time when I played Alpha for the first time, and looking to 1.4, Minecraft has come a LONG way. This game will become legendary.
Even though Jeb was the creator since 1.0.0 (at the latest) yes, he does make better snapshots, but Dinnerbone (new Nether portal feature, new mob, dye-able armour.) and Marc_IRL help.
