They were supposedly created to protect Jewish villages and people , it dates back thousands of years . Golems having the squidward head is perfect since they are created in the villagers image . As far as the Iron Golems giving flowers to kids , that comes from the scene in Frankenstein . Much older references , that the cartoon obviously used...but yeah the whole golem thing is very old and even Frankenstein himself is a Golem as well .Posted in: News -

***Things that I would like to see fixed before other additions are made***
1.Sponges , cant be to hard to put them into the world gen so can be used in survival mode .
2.Cocoa beans should drop from jungle tree leaves , like apples dropping from other leaves .
3.The Nether should receive some more love , in the form of something(anything!) to mine , besides endless netherack...
4.Put in and fix a simple recipe for Chainmail armor pieces...not fire , something as simple as 1 iron ingot=2 chain links .
5.The end , do I really have to mention something , anything should be done to this zone , as of now , there is only reason to go to it one time .
***Things I would like to see added to the game***
1.This is Minecraft yeah? Yet , there is only one semi precious stone...Lapis , with minimum usage to date... How about other gems and precious stones , one for each dye colour . If for nothing else to be used as dye currently...Or even better , used to stain/dye glass blocks , make coloured torch or redstone lamps with coloured lighting . Made into blocks like Lapis , maybe even tools and armor? Additions to the potion and or enchanting system?
2.With the proposed addition(see above)of chain links for armor , they also could have various other uses . 6 chain links a length of chain . Length of chain to be used as a decorative block to hang things from and for winches , pulleys(since no rope) , elevators , drawbridges...
Otherwise , liking the changes so far with these snapshots for 1.2 . The bugs not so much , but they are expected . -

This is awesome news all around . Also , the main reason I haven't resumed my real world building since 1.0 . With jungles and all that , in case I need to start a new world .Just been messing around with jamming as many mods as possible into my game before it explodes until 1.2
Notch started this game and did an amazing job . But , it looks like handing it over to Jeb was the best idea all around . Great work! -

Wow , carrots are very rare , and it seems potatos are even rarer still...This pic shows how much exps , and what I have collected from zombies so far...doing nothing but killing zombies...still no potato lol

The corner stair thingy is a nice little touch as well , finally those spots in roofs wont look wonky anymore...
Now , we just need to be able to collect and place cobwebs in survival mode , sponges should be added back into the game world in ocean biomes , a netherbrick fence gate to go with our nether brick fences...
Awesome work so far , keep it up!

And yes , as mentioned a few times , oceans have been in dire need of some attention for a long long time now...

Love all the additions so far , 1.3 should rock .
But I do still wish they would add something more to the nether...granted , with alchemy there are alot more reasons to go there then there once was...but still . Maybe ores and the dungeons from the overland map . Something to add some variety and give more of a reason to explore it .
I would be happy with a recipe to turn netherrack into nether bricks , netherbrick slabs , and netherbrick gates to go with the fences!

Here is what will be one of several false entrances to my base ,
There is the tripwire...
Oh , the tripwire turns on lights , nice...
A few seconds later , to make up for the panic that occurs when hearing the click of the tripwire , then seeing the lights come on . So after a few seconds they walk right into this opening under their feet...Also will add a button to manually activate this as well , since I play alone and need monster defense!
And this obsidian lined lava pit is what awaits them...
I am not the greatest with redstone , but I make things like this all the time , just getting started with tripwires...let me know what you think .

Now if they could only add a slight translucency to the emerald and diamond blocks , that would be awesome...

Hmm , tripwire trap , pistons open up a 4x4 hole under it , drops down into a obsidian lined pit filled with water , delay on pistons to close over the water level (can't move obsidian with pistons though...would have to be something else)...trapping the poor monster or person to die a horrible death...
I do see them using tripwire in the new pyramid structure for sure , or maybe other places , like in the old mine tunnels...

Now on the other hand...Oceans do need alot of love! 90% of the worlds I make always have giant oceans...and they are just about worthless...
