Actually, Minecraft is one of the fastest growing games ever, and it still hasn't matured completely. Minecraft is the polar opposite of the word "dying".Quote from AgentPaint
Minecraft is dying, it's not dead yet. This can be said for any game.

Jun 6, 2014I'm really liking the new profile format, as it is much easier to navigate. The "posts" section is especially good, because its easier to differentiate between posts and has more hyperlinks to get you pack to the topic they were posted on. However, being uncluttered and linearly designed, the new profile's look completely takes away the "cozy" feel that the other forum had. There is also lots of extra space along the sides of the profile pages, so I'm hoping the forum developers will put something extra in there. (The extra space further takes away the "cozy" feel, so if nothing is added there, the actual profile text should be enlarged to fill it up)Posted in: Feedback Archive
As for the rest of the forums, its as many have said before: clean and easy to navigate, but a few things can be tweaked here and there.
Jun 3, 2014Its great that Minecraft Forum is going through all these improvements, but I'd like to point one thing out. I absolutely hate the stark white background of every forum page. By having all those colorful tags and prefixes, the white is simply much to contrasting and even looks a bit utilitarian. I know this is just a beta and things are subject to change, but I'd recommend making the background some sort of brown or pale blue to tone down the visuals.Posted in: Feedback Archive
Jun 1, 2014I hate how 99.9% of servers these days are just little spawns with Minigame portals around them. I loved how before, servers used to have intricate spawns, tons of things to discover, and had great societies.Posted in: Discussion
And VIPs, too. They thing they have the right to kick you around the server all the time. No wonder why the Shotbow network servers used to have 8,000 people playing on them at all times before they introduced the VIP system, and now they have 500... (mostly VIPs)
May 30, 2014I just plugged "flint tools" into the all-powerful search bar, and guess what? Out popped 956 results! Also, Dinnerbone stated on Twitter that he would not be adding any more tool tiers unless absolutely necessary. The flint ore is also pointless, because thats gravels' only real purpose. As for the reflective flint block, that would be cool, but it would require a massive engine rewrite that might not even be possible with an old coding system like Java.Posted in: Suggestions

Don't get me wrong, I'm inside that hype train too, but it just ran out of fuel.Quote from LegoShokwave123
When Mojang shows a feature that is as close to being complete as the Prismarine and Sea Lantern seem to be, it is extremely rare for it not to be added. The only exception is when they outright state that it is not guaranteed to be added (Rabbits, for example).
What you are referring to, despite the fact it is an entirely different situation, is when they mention a possible future feature, but don't implement it at all until much later.
The hype train continues on its path unhindered.
Take mod/plugin API for example. During the development of 1.5, Jeb said himself on Twitter and Instagram that the API is confirmed for the upcoming updates, and guess what happen? We're still waiting for it now.
It's obvious features like this were delayed for good reason, but thats what happens to some "confirmed" upcoming stuff.

Jan 11, 2014Piedro0 posted a message on Ores in EVERY kind of block! (Ores as Metadata) [Now with better Pictures/ screenshots!]Posted in: Suggestions
I thought how to make in-game ores better, we could add Ore metadata on an actual block. This would work as followed: Block; as smooth stone spawns and it's given a metadata of an ore block that would normally spawn at it's place. Imagine a cluster of andesite and the world generation would cause a single diamond ore to spawn at the surface. instead of replacing the block with an ore block, the andesite block would spawn with diamond ore metadata.
(image example- used iron)
Just to clarify:
"Ores in every block" isn't literal. The point is to change the mechanics of how ores work so that they don't need a new kind of block for every ore type. Instead the ore is stored as metadata for the block. A possible extension of this is the ability to put ore in ANY block, however chances are ores would still be restricted to stone blocks like stone, granite, diorite, and andesite, instead of just in stone only.
One could do an entire creative page just for ores (or rather just for ores in stone, granite, diorite, and andesite)... or they could add a shift right click function to the pickaxe in creative mode that allows the player to cycle through different ore values (or other metadata for other kinds of blocks), or leave the creative inventory menu as is and just modify the appropriate console commands to account for ore in blocks other than bland grey stone.
(thanks Unclevertitle for this clarification)
How ores will be handled for mining:
Regarding mining these modified blocks the stuff is very simple:
Mining speed: Block.
Drop and tool tier requirements: Ore.
Iron, gold ores will be dropped as raw non-block items.
Dirt with coal metadata
- Coal ore can be mined with a wooden pickaxe upwards.
- Preferred tool for the dirt block is a shovel.
When you use a Wooden shovel (or better), the block will break at a normal speed and it would yield only the coal chunk.
Otherwise it would break and nothing would drop.
Obsidian with Iron ore metadata (note that obsidian is generated after the world so, no obsidian-infused ore would exist naturally).
- Iron ore can be mined with a Stone pickaxe upwards.
- Preferred tool for the obsidian block is a diamond pickaxe.
When you use a Stone pickaxe (or better), the block will break at a normal speed and it would yield only the raw iron chunk.
Otherwise it would break and nothing would drop. (note: when you use a stone pick, the mining speed would be equal to that of a normal obsidian block)

Apr 25, 2014Posted in: SuggestionsAt the moment when you are racing along in your Minecart and you hit a mob (or player) you just bounce back and you have to get out to kill that mob or player. But what if you could just run them over? That is what I am suggesting.
When you hit the mob, you will hit them and knock them in the direction of the closest adjacent block (if you would of hit them into you they will go forward)The speed you are going will determine the damage.
As I do not know all the exact speed I can only offer certain speeds.
1) Being 100% player pushed with no other speed beside the forward key Half a heart, Only knocked to next adjacent block.
2) Going the speed as if you were on a straight line of Powered rails: 2 Hearts, Knocked two blocks away.
3) Manually Uphill: No damage or knockback, minecart is instead pushed back.
4) Max speed downhill: 7 Hearts, 5 block knockback
5) Falling Minecart (with nothing inside): 9.5 Hearts, 5 block knockback. (4.5 Hearts if wearing a Helmet)
6) Falling Minecart (With passenger or Furnace/Chest): 10 Hearts, 5 Block Knockback (Only 5 Hearts if Mob/Player is wearing a Helmet).
-When a Minecart hits a mob/player (Regardless of what mob/player) it will lose 10% of its speed.
- When two Minecarts hit each other they will both bounce off each other (as they do now)
- When killed by a Minecart the death message would be (Player) was hit by a speeding Minecart.
-When pushed into a Minecarts path by a Player or mob the death message would be (Player) was pushed into a speeding Minecart by (Killer)
-When killed by a falling Minecart the death message would be (Player) was crushed by a falling Minecart.
-When pushed into a falling Minecart the message would be (Player) was pushed under a falling Minecart by (Killer)
-Minecarts no longer can be pushed when on an unpowered Powered Rail.
-There will be a gamerule called /cartDamage (True/false) that toggles Minecart damage.
-You only take damage if you are in the next block the Minecart will enter (That means pushing from the back/pushing mobs in from the back will not hurt you or them)
-When you damage a wolf or pigman via Minecart, they will NOT agro towards you (unless already mad of course). Also, zombies will NOT summon other zombies when damaged by Minecart.
-Changed downhill damage from 8 to 7
-Added murder death message
-Added Falling Minecart Info.
-Added third question to poll -Added Reduced damage from helmet wearing from no occupant minecarts (Should of been there already) -Added "Gameplay" tag - Poll Results: Mobs will have normal drops. Minecarts will keep the same damage as before poll. The gamerule will be called cartDamage
-Added section about agroing monsters.

Nov 26, 2014Well.. I've never been banned before, so I can't really add to this.. though I guess I could share a ridiculous ban that one of my friends received.Posted in: Discussion
We were both on an FTB server, and the owner had set up a chat filter. One of the included words was "Lagg". He apparently hated it when people said his server was laggy (When it was), so my friend decided to ask "Why is the server so L4ggy?" And he was banned on the spot, for "Circumventing the Chat Filter". Lol.
Jul 30, 2014For everyone wondering, this journal is cancelled, but I will be releasing very frequent world downloads and some occasional videos on Youtube to show off some things.Posted in: Survival Mode
Hi everyone! My IGN is sdrogheggiante, and today I'm bringing you a new concept/idea for a survival let's play world.
Have you ever thought about making a Minecraft survival world with epic builds and cool looking farms, but just don't have time or imagination to do it? Well now there's me helping you here!
So, the idea with this let's play, is that you are going to be the ones who decide what the world is going to be shaped like, just as you were building it.
Let me explain a bit better:
I will be dividing every build or game session in various episodes. The episodes are not going to be uploaded on youtube or anything like that... I'm just gonna post all the screenshots of the progress I'm making for each episode. Once 10 - 15 episodes are out, I'm gonna start the next season. The fun part comes here though... the ones that will be choosing what I should build are you!
If sometimes I get good proposals but, can't decide the one I'm going for, I'll make a poll, where you can vote the best project.
IF THIS LINE IS GREEN, IT MEANS THAT I'M STILL ACCEPTING PROJECTS.
Now, let's get into it already:
I generated a world with a random seed and I made screenshots in each direction at 20 chunks, which means you can pretty much see everything, here they are:
Episode 1: Getting settled
Hey everybody! I just got the 1st episode worked out! It is a prep episode, before the 25 days period ends. You will see how they are gonna be structured and see if you like it... anyways, let's get straight into it, shall we?Episode 2: Resource gathering and building preparations
So I started by raiding the village just as you wanted. It had a blacksmith and I found some decent loot to start off, I would have liked some obsidian too, but nope :/
After doing that I moved to the nearby plain area. I found a bunch of sheep and thought it would have been helpful to get a simple wool farm going. I made a pretty basic farm, but it gave me around 5 stacks of wool in 0.30h of gameplay.
The crops I found before in the village, turned out to be really useful. I could in fact breed more sheep, and since in the snapshot I'm playing they drop mutton, I use it as a food farm too.
With the remaining crops, I quickly made a wheat - carrots - potatoes farm, which... I'm not really using at the moment, but having a good food production is always a good thing right?
At this point I didn't really have nothing else to do, and I was about to give up on making the first episode come out so quickly but then I thought: what kind of crazy minecrafter doesn't go mining on his first day on a new world? And.... yeah, I went mining as you might have expected. I haven't been that lucky honestly. I haven't found a single diamond, or a mob spawner, or even a mineshaft... but the random caves full of iron and a ravine with a bunch of valuables in it, made me come back home with a smile on my face. For a first mining session of about 20 mins, I feel like this is a good result:
At the end I started making my very own little hut. It is the only thing I will every build by myself apart from farms, I promise. I decided to just build it because I felt like I couldn't just get already started with the project ideas you guys gave me. Consider it as a temporary storage room where I just keep all the stuff I need for my next builds...
(I know... pac-man doesn't really fit the style, but I LOVE HIM!)
And this is going to be the end of the first episode. The next ones are going to be much much longer and more focused on the builds rather then what I do in the background. Even though I might include some screenshots of my adventures around our world The next episode is gonna come out at the end of the 25 days period, which is the 23rd of august... (based on how many suggestions I get to start off the let's play)
Hey everybody! Here is episode 2 of my Forum Shaped World. Hope you like it!
In this second episode I do some really fruitful mining, finish my house and make some other adjustments to the world.
So to start off I guess I should show you how my house turned out right? Here it is!
I made a little path, just to make it look better, with granite, gravel and coarse dirt. I'm not really good at making paths, but I think this turned out better than expected. Tell me what you think about it.
Here are some other angles of the house:
The front (I actually changed the door to a dark oak wood door, one of the new ones)
After completely finishing the house, I went to a little exploration. I found nothing really interesting so I don't have any good screenshots to show... but I found pumpkins and made a manual farm. Nothing to fancy, and really... I'm never gonna use pumpkins, but it's always good to have a little bit of everything that's in the game right?
The farm is a 8x8 and has 2 floors.
After making the pumpkin farm I decided to go look for some diamonds, because I only had the one I found in the blacksmith's house. Eventually, while dropping in my strip mine, I missed the ladder and.. you know the rest. Lost 31 levels, not a big deal since I don't have an enchantment table, but dang they were 31!
Later on, I even expanded the sheep farm and looked for some cows, but found nothing for the moment...
Now, some days passed and you can notice the mutton texture actually changed in the hotbar... I went exploring a bit and found a desert village. Nothing really important to notice, there wasn't even a blacksmith... but for the sake of entertainment (?) here's a screenshot!
I went down in a cave/ravine thing and decided to not go back on the surface until I found diamonds and luckiest thing in my life (even though it happened at least other 2 times to me), I found 4 diamond chunks stick together! I couldn't get the 4 veins in a single screenshot, but I managed to get at least 2 in 1. I can tell you though, that the 4 diamond veins were something like 10 blocks distant from each other!
Here are the screenshots, I got 16 diamonds total.
I then got back home, built a nice little sugar cane farm and found FINALLY some cows. I looked for them all over the world! Here is a screenshot just to end this episode, of the entire land I built on.
Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for the support everybody! I'll see you in the next episode in which I'm going to start one of the accepted projects. Guess which one it is?
I'm gonna make 1 - 2 episodes per week which means 1 or 2 builds (that is time related though, if I have a big thing going on it may take a while for a build to be finished).
When a season ends, I might record a little 5 mins video showing all I've built and publish it on youtube with some background music.
I'm also going to release frequent world downloads, so that I have online backups, which is always better than the ones I'll do on my pc (it might get struck by a lightning, who knows)
The list of accepted and done project can be found here:
-Make an area with destruction and death and viceversa
-Make a mad scientist lab
-Make some desert oasis (Maybe with villagers?)
-Make temple and/or sacrifice altars for some sort of rituals for the.. minecraft Gods(?)
-Use a Industry-like style, maybe with abandoned areas, when it is possible
-Make a realistic looking Quarry (not like Buildcraft ones)
None at the moment
Gold farm timelapse
Current world download
Just another little note: the projects I'm going to be making are not 8 years old projects, so keep in mind that if you are going to give a suggestion, it must be good, related to the style I'm going for the overhaul world and at least a medium size build, cause I'm not gonna make an episode for me making my dirt house!
Ps: do NOT suggest farms, because I will build them when I think it's necessary and/or needed for a build.
Thanks for the support you will show
Sep 3, 2014This is my old town (late 2011 to late 2013). It started out small and kept expanding, but it was kind of depressing because you couldn't see any of the beautiful world because of the high castle walls...Posted in: Survival Mode
... So, when 1.7 came out this past winter, I build a ship...
And moved to a far off land, and started to build a town on the top of a really high savanna plateau. Now I've got the view I've always dreamed of!
I used way too much Quartz on my city hall, but it turned out pretty neat.
I think my favorite building up there so far is my blacksmith. The roof came out really awesome.
And yes, this is completely legitimate survival! It's on a small private server that I play on with my wife and a few of my best friends, but these here are my personal builds.
