Well Ive configured my setup for the tech mod extravaganza Ive planned. Im using RP silver, copper and tin specifically because they can be made into blocks and into covers which make metals almost efficient as a building material which is something Ive wanted forever, and I plan to use extensively. Also have configured my texture pack so the metal blocks look nice. Oh and I decided to go ahead and leave in the gemstones but this time avoid using them for tools, convert them to blocks and covers for tile floors instead.

Later tonight I shall generate my world and begin experimenting.

Good luck and happy mining! :D
Are you gonna have any other mods installed?

Also, build a flying base, it makes for a great project... especially if its one clad in metallic armour...

Minecraft is basically legos without mods so Im sure you arent the first to come up with the comparison. But lets just say I bought a new lego kit to make a working factory complete with little moving pieces and stuff. Sounds awesome lets play with that right now. Oh but wait. Theres hardly anything in this box other than these little green, red, blue, black and white blocks that dont go into the construction of the factory picture on the box. Oh and a monkey who dumps the black ones all over my kitchen floor whenever I turn my back. But I shouldnt complain, I now have more legos than I did before.

Well you know what, maybe I like my new pet monkey! Besides, I think the volcanoes are cool. Could have more work done, but building a volcano base is still a cool thing.

What post were you guys reading? Im only offering up my honest criticism of the mod. Yeah, I know about the "future plans" for all of these useless ores as if thats an excuse. Why not just leave them out until they ...do something? If I didnt like Machines then I wouldnt worry about the world gen woes it causes now would I? Id like to use it just for fun but without all of the unnecessary baggage. Even though I am convinced that the gems are way OP I cant help but use them when I come across them and I feel that it ruins the fun a little bit. That makes sense, doesnt it?

Hello, Wayward traveller here; hate to interfere with a well-paced argument, but I'd like to interject my opinion:
The reason I really, truly LOVE Redpower is because its like Lego; it gives you a bunch of random pieces to do with as you please. Frames have no distinct purpose; you can use them to build a flying base or a blimp or an elevator or a tunnel bore- absolutely anything! If you happen to be in need of resources, you can combine a couple frame motors, a bunch of frames, and a fair amount of breakers and tubing to whip up a basic quarry. Tired of your old base? Build a flying caravan and take to the sky! (I actually did this once or twice, it was awesome!) Build a monolithic flying machine capable of lowering to the ground and building a village, whatever! With knowledge and a plan, you can do anything!

That reminds me, one thing I need to do is get around to that modular frame base... Imagine a bunch of big blocks filled with rooms, them make them swivel and move around each other, reconstructing and re-arranging as you wish!

    Hello;

I appear to be suffering from problem similar to the error produced by a "MegaEvolutionNinja" above.

I am running a forge server with numerous mods already installed, and whenever I connect to my server, I get this error, and the server crashes completely. For the thirty seconds-or-so I'm in the server before it crashes, Smart moving functions perfectly.

posted a message on Redstone School Science Fair!
just saying, doing a science project on which form of digital wiring in a video-game is most efficient does sound a bit silly. If it has to have an experiment, I would say that you are probably better off doing something a bit more tangible.

On the other hand, if its more like a presentation, perhaps you could use Minecraft to model real world electronic circuits, you know, adders and calculators and the like, accompanied with a logic diagram.

TL;DR, do you have to do an experiment, or can you just do a presentation?

posted a message on 30 Second Clock (Survival Friendly)
Actually, you could use a a couple pistons to rotate a loop of blocks, with one being opaque. when the opaque block arrives at a certain location, you could send a signal through it. It would need to be timed using repeaters, and it might be tricky to get it exact, but you could make it run anywhere from a 30 seconds to a couple of minutes.

    :Glass: :Logs^: :Glass: :Glass:
    :Glass: :Glass:
    :Glass: :Glass:
    :Glass: :Glass: :Glass: :Glass:

you could even chain multiple of these counters together to create clocks with really really long delay in a relatively small space.

Make fuel useage dependant on the weight the the vessel, and add Balloon blocks, that subtract from that weight.

posted a message on Most efficient delay?
If noise is no problem, I would say it would be a good idea to use a piston clock, or some variation of such. Then again, a repeater based delay would take a large space, but it would be easy.

posted a message on Kerbal Space program Stories
Since Kerbal Space Srogram is an awesome little spacey game, I decided a place was needed where people could share their stories of amazing successes, resounding failiures, or just plain weird occurences.

    My mini-story:

Houston, we have ignition! Started off this little rocket of mine, had low expectations, but figured I might try shooting for the moon. Heading up, runs into some oscillation problems , but as soon as the outer tanks are exhausted and get jetisoned, no problems. Heading up, I achieve an orbit.

Standard procedure from here, I build the orbit out, doing a burn at the Periapsis and the Apoapsis until the orbit it built out the same orbit as the moon. Wasn't long before I noticed that if I'm in the same orbit as the moon, I'll never catch up to it, so I brought down the periapsis a bit, then waited.

After a while, I began to near the Mun, and I suddenly began orbiting, or at least, the orbital projection thought so. it doesn't take into account other objects, like the Kearth, so I did one orbit of the Mun, missing my oppurtunity in the shock of achieving a Mun orbit, then suddenly, back into Kearth orbit. At this point, I really stopped caring, surprised even that I made it this far. So instead of smartly adjusting my orbit to match the Muns, I just burned towards it. Hopeless, but whatever.

I did a short burn, and I guess I managed to shift my orbit, and shortly later, I was plunging towards the Mun at point six kilometers per second. I carefully braked with what remaining fuel I had, and made a landing. I had landed on the dark side of the Mun, on a slope, so a vertical landing would be hopeless.

I landed, and immediatly began sliding down the munar hill. I might've been able to make it back with what fuel I had, if the fuel tanks didn't break off. oh well. The kerbalnauts seemed quite content sliding down a munar hill, soon to come to rest at the bottom, doomed to spend eternity on a cold, grey rock. Oh well, its the Mun, so they'll be happy for that eternity anyway.

My first landing on the Mun.

    Got any stories to share?

posted a message on What is binary actually used for?
Binary is a number system composed of zero's and ones, only two states. Where zero means, well, zero, and one is the next highest, and highest place value. For example:
    Decimal:(Base 10) 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
    Binary: (Base 2) 0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101
Binary works the same as decimal, just that it lacks the numbers 2-9. It works the same in that once you reach the highest place value, you zero that place value and add 1 to the next. IE: 9, 10 OR 1, 10

Binary is used for computing and redstone computing because it happens to be the most practical to use, because a real life wire or an in-game redstone wire is always either on or off. In real life, it is possible to create Ternary computers, (Base 3) but it is less practical as logic gates tend to be larger in order to accommodate for a third value.

    Is my explanation any good?

EDIT: Ohwait, this thread is A month old? Whoops, didn't realize until after I posted...
