Unfortunately, there is truth in that statement.

I'm not upset for people being attracted to joining the DElves. They have a considerable amount of wealth, a neat city, they are on quite often, and roleplay... What's bad about that?

What I am a bit miffed about is the constant arguing everyone engages in, specifically about the DElves. "Wahwahwah, they win everything! Wahwahwah, they own everything! Wahwahwah, they powergame and grief and steal and their leader is OP! WAAAAAHHHH!!!"

This is what I feel like I hear all the time, from every side and every faction. This is probably all inaccurate. Brand me ignorant if you like.

*sigh* I just wish people would stop bickering like children in OOC over these things, and do something. Prepare, train, and fight. The Dark Elves may loom over us like hawks over us, but you determine how high up in the sky they really are. :/

On an interrelated note, how are the updates on the Wikia?

Well, there's a lot of problems at the moment. We can't train and fight since the mcmmo combat skills aren't leveling, but still seem active. (aka, I can still use berserk or serrated strike. Not sure if damage bonuses still apply, but I'd hazard a guess at yes.) So the dark elves still have some of the highest combat ability.

Then with most of the active players either joining or choosing not to resist the dark elves, we can't gather a strong enough force to beat them. Today they reached a peak of 9/10 people. After gathering every available body willing and able to fight, we only managed to get about 8 or less. And then we had some leave/afk during the raid.

And then you mentioned their great city and wealth. The problem being that their city was a gift to them, not having bought or mined that crazy amount of obsidian. So the great defense they have, the wealth they flaunt, is all just a joke. Although most of the diamonds/gold was properly earned. And they do have a great deal more than other factions, since most of the members have been here longer.

And while all the dark elves and mods claim this is 'great RP', it's just great for the dark elves. Everyone else is getting a shitty deal. They go around and kill everyone of every other faction regardless of how badly the dark elves outnumber them. Try to fight and they'll hide in their fort built from materials they didn't earn. Even if they were all managed to be killed, they'd just respawn and repeat. It's basically a faction of asshats who are given full permission to be asshats. Enslaving, stealing land, trolling and taunting, terrorizing every other faction. As long as they call it RP, they're allowed to do whatever they want.

So basically... we just get to sit here and be destroyed over and over again. Trying to take their fort is nigh impossible. You'd have to outnumber them just to force your way inside. And as more and more people convert to the dark elves, (because lets be honest, it's a much better option than being killed everyday, robbed and harassed) there's less and less of a chance to actually defeat them. As it stands, they currently have the most active members of any faction, and the full support of the mods and admins.

I would fully love for all of aeonis to -actually- stand up against them, instead of choosing to stand out and hide, it's unlikely to happen. Our latest attempt showed me just how much of a joke attempting that is. Where the people involved cannot even be bothered to watch where their enemies are going. xD which I'm still bitter about, but stuff happens.

Meh, the only thing I'm irked about is being the only person who was watching the dark elves. I step away for a minute or two to set up some food chests and make bread, and I get stabbed in the back. xD It was really sad.

=\ Pity all the actives are joining the dark elves. Fighting them is almost impossible at this point.

Well Strengthfizz, whatever argument you have against Rognvaldi can't be trusted, especially with you giving away coords like that. Which obviously were not gained through proper exploration and writing them down. It's obvious you're just trying to cause problems on the server. You will never get back in if this is how you act. You're obviously not getting the message the we don't appreciate griefing/trolling/cheating.

Maybe there should be a mod/admin thing where you have a list of banned players with the reasons for banning. Just so everythings clear. To keep it moderately private, could just email/message it to all the mods/admins and then they just keep the records in notepad or something. Or a private forums somewhere.

Or you could just make the information public, so everyone knows and people are a little more aware of their actions.

Chapter 2: The Calm before the Storm

Another messenger arrived from a distant land, carrying a letter for the Frost Dwarf Rutni. He was instructed to show the letter to whoever asked, so long as it reaches Rutni himself.

    Rutni

It has been some time since I have last written, and much has happened. I arrived at my friends and we have been going of the texts that were found in the creatures cave. Most of the writing I can't read, or don't fully understand. I was right to bring this all to Helmal. He's a bit odd, but that makes him perfect for this. Seems all the formulas and theories were written by a mad man. The creature must have been some experiment gone wrong, but there's nothing about that yet. He did a lot of work with other creatures, researching biology and the make up of life and death.

We also learned a little about the original inhabitant. Seems he was a mage of little renown. Terral Farrowind, 7th order mage belonging to Silver Moon order. Apparently it was one of the three largest mage factions on this continent for hundreds of years. I don't believe they ever expanded to Aeonis, but some of the members were known to travel. It was composed of 13 orders, with order 1 being the highest and 13 the lowest. The more gifted and talented mages moved up faster. 7 Is a fairly average rank, meaning this person wasn't extremely powerful nor gifted. This supports my theory of the creature I found being an accident of sorts.

Also among the belongings was a strange dagger covered in runes and symbols that don't match anything in the texts. It was found near my cousins body... but I don't believe it was his. Helmal says they look somewhat familiar, and he's taken it some friends of his to see if they know anything.

That's all we have for now, and I hope we find out more soon. There's an interesting book here that seems important. Looks like a journal of sorts. Perhaps the mad man wrote something down before his creation killed him. Sorry about the stains on these pages, the longing is getting to me. I keep suffering bouts of intense pain and sweating, then freezing cold that I cannot stand. I want to return to our mountain home, my mind is plagued with thoughts of it, making things difficult to focus on. Helmal has told me of a nearby snowy range that I can travel to, hopefully that will keep things from getting worse.

That's super creepy, awful, and slightly phallic, but in a way... romantic. Much more interesting than jumping over a broom.

So..... it perfectly represents the dark elves. I'm glad we're in agreement. xD

I think newly wedded dark elf couples should go on a hunt together and ritually kill someone to seal their union, sinking their blades into the person at the same time and extinguishing that persons life as an offering or tribute to Kael. =D

    THE JOINING OF DARK ELVES

*ahem* Dearly hated and despised brethren, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Disciple Falcorn and Drauchar Sora in unholy matrimony commended to be unappreciated among all; and therefore is not to be entered into seriously but with much clawing and gnashing of teeth. Into this - these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they most definitely should not be joined together - let them speak now or have their tongue cut out.

    *Waits patiently*

    Very well.

In this case, do you, Disciple Falcorn, take Sora as your lawfully despised wife?

    (Yes)

and do you, Drauchar Sora, take Disciple Falcorn as your pathetic slime of a husband?

    (Yes)

Then it is done. In the name of Kael,

    *They begin smooching*

you may.. kiss the.. KILL THE INTRUDERS!

And that's how today's wedding went.

Nothing like a good massacre to seal a marriage. Should make it tradition.

I agree here, oly until recently I had no contact with anyone rp wise even though I was under the impression there was going to be 'heavy rp'... It's more like light rp D:
And the server isn't really newbie friendly either, I was pretty lost.. Maybe if the leader of each faction writes out a detailed list a new character needs to follow? Because I had no idea what I could do, what I couldn't do, where I was allowed to go or where I was allowed to build, etc. :Sheep:

=\ well that's not right. Guess things have been getting weird. There -are- supposed to be instructions for new players in the embassies in Cormyr, the spawn town. Generally if no one in your faction is on, you can get a mod to show you the ropes. Since we're still suffering some growing pains and all the recent changes, there hasn't been too much RP. Thankfully, we're pushing harder for more RP and cutting back on the ooc chatter unless in the proper channel (talk or help).

But if anyone needs help and there is no leader/member of that faction/mod on, you can ask around in talk chat or help chat to find someone who's willing. Not as good as the faction leader, but it'll help you get started.

Well you did of course blatantly lie to the creator, saying it was for disguises. You never said anything about bringing back the dead. Then there's the fact you need to recover the corpse, and we'll go ahead and pretend you can bring them back as good as new because you're a master of controlling souls or something. Whatever.

But like you said, you were the only fleshcrafter, and they shouldn't have been able to do it anyways.

I'm glad they called the two minute warning, despite the wrong channel, and I don't think Rognvaldi cares about being outnumbered (probably preferred it).

But I guess we also need to set some rules on victory conditions. Because lets be honest, if you have a large number of people coming back over and over again, the defenders will eventually lose. So we can either set a time limit, say for capturing the base that's being attacked, or play a single wave, or say each person has a certain number of 'lives'. Or something else, but those are my ideas.

Say you have x amount of hours in game to claim the fort, or you have to retreat. With the lag, that might not work out so well. A single wave would be the most realistic, and the most boring. Unless it's a single wave every day or so. So you can do full drawn out sieges. Lives would probably be the best bet, allowing people to fight for a while and try again until they run out. This could even fit in with the death rule. Say you get five lives or so. You're allowed to die that many times in battle and still walk away. If you decide to go for 6 and die, your character has suffered too much damage, and is dead for good. Or we can just say 5 lives and you have to go home, no coming back for number 6 or you get administrative punishment for breaking the rules.

Also, we need more punishments for breaking the rules besides banning. Maybe banished to the nether for a while, or losing their right to protect chests. Have another group set up that has almost no permissions, including /home or /warp or /lwc. Maybe a large in game fine or get temp banned.

So Demons wasted about 10 pages of this forum QQ'ing about spawn killing and Orik TP'ing people into their base.. now it's ok for THEM to do it because they're 'immortal'? What happened to 'fleshcrafting'? Doesn't that take time? And what about the other lords? That went far overboard in my books. You all died when we flanked you on the bridge, and then wiped out the rest at the sea-level. For some reason everyone kept teleporting back. When you finally killed me you said "herp yur dead maluz1!11one" Where do you get this crap? :dry.gif:

Anyhow, thanks for the present, guys.

Ah, I remember that one time I brought up fleshing crafting and argued against it because it would lead to problems. Like this. Then we tried to have that whole discussion on rules and and how certain races have crazy RP advantages over others that should be looked at. Lets have that talk again. xD

But yeah, that was kind of being a poor sport. You all died several times to the dark elves before you beat them back. And then you had the audacity to claim victory. If you can come back with your body in tatters over and over again, there's no reason the dark elves have to give up after one defeat.

Plus I'm hoping there was the 2 minute invasion warning, and that you didn't bring a crazy amount more people than they had. Because those are the rules.

well, i totally agree about the fact that you should make mcmmo faction based, but it would suck that we'd have our stats reset, i'm a dwarf so i'm absolutely certain that i'd get mining skill xP but atm my mining is quite high and it'd really suck if i would need to redo all these hours of work to get it back to that level xS

also, if elves would be the only ones with archery as skill they could get really OP to the other classes, try to think about it, if they have high enough lvl they could put you down with 3 arrows, in a war you won't even be able to get close to them. OK, i get it you can 3shot them with an axe as well, but you'll never get in range if their archers are quite good, they could singlehandedly drop 3-4 peeps withouth breaking a sweat and if they keep moving they won't even be hurt at all.

problem is that bows are the only ranged weapons ( except for mages powers) so i guess you'll need to think about that some more^^

and just one more thing, if you'd boost xp gains for acrobatics i'm sure peeps would still try to abuse it, effect would be that peeps would get to high acrobatics in no time and being able to take no falling dmg 90% of the time, if you'd do this there needs to be a lot of control on it, and if you're just dropping and eating so you don't die it's kinda untraceable untill you get like 300 lvls in one hour.

btw i really hope you can figure this shizzle out :tongue.gif:

    Angath longbeard

While having to relevel would suck, it's not a giant problem. The server is about roleplaying after all, not about leveling up your stats. And it wouldn't take too long to get back up there. Even if it does take a few days, hopefully you'll play on this server for weeks or months, so it would still be very little time overall to recover.

The faction only skills is a nifty idea, but the balancing is an issue. Elves would get a massive advantage if they were the only ones able to train bows. However, you could just train swords and acro really high, and hopefully dodge/parry most of their attacks. You could also hide behind objects until you were close enough to strike. Then there's the lag, which pretty much renders archery obsolete, since you can't keep up or predict where targets would be. So the advantage would only exist in lag free environments. Either way, it's just a thought and would take a lot of time and consideration, as well as testing to implement. Even then there would be tweaks here and there to balance it out.

As for acrobatics, everyone is already training it by falling to their deaths over and over again. If this method isn't acceptable, your character would have to want to fall and hurt themselves and take time to recover before repeating. This is difficult to roleplay as well as the first scenario of repeated suicide. To reduce people from doing either, you just raise the exp you gain, so that it's easier to level. People would of course still abuse it, they're abusing it now. So our options are to leave it, change it, remove it, or give it to everyone. If we changed it to where you couldn't jump to your death over and over, people would be grumpy and still drop their character from crazy heights and eat food to repeat. This is still out of character and you'd have to police people to catch them doing it. So the only way to level it would be accidentally fall and take damage. Which would take a really really really long time. So by raising the exp gain, you could do the accidentally falling, and still level up fairly quick. Then, it would still be abused and everyone would powerlevel it. but then we'd all have it. (except vampires, but eff those guys. xD j/k)

But yeah, skill reset shouldn't be a problem, it's annoying and everyone likes their high levels, but this is RP focussed. Shouldn't take too long to get back up there, and if it does, that shouldn't be a problem either. If you're here for the long run, you're going to cap out on most skills eventually anyways.

As for training while you fall normally, that should be rare if ever. I may be a bit bias, but I'd think characters would try to avoid falling and hurting themselves. Most characters don't like breaking their legs while falling 10 blocks or more. Although if we did do it that way, I would recommend using some of the configurations be adjusted to allow leveling that way faster. (there's an option to multiply experience gained in certain skills). The skill itself is weird enough where you gain levels by hurting yourself. Again, making it more difficult to RP than combat or gathering skills.

But you're right about my opinions of Altin. I hear a lot of great things, but I don't see any of it. All I see are the bad things. He's been given a lot of trust, power, and advantages other characters don't have. Of course I'm going to question that. I did the same thing to you for a while. Then as I got to know you better, I found you were using that for the good of the server and not taking control of everything. Instead encouraging people to take their own actions and justly administering the use of magic to ensure there is no abuse. I don't know Altin that well, and I don't exactly trust him all that much. He has no obligation to prove himself to me and gain my trust, but I will call him out when he bends/breaks the rules. And I'll pick on his wonky character for fun. A crude joke would involve several races gathered in a circle and doing terrible things with their hands into a bucket, and out stepped Altin. He's some kind of human/demon/forgotten one, ex vampire, templar. And the templar are some kind of mercenary force that try to manipulate events in their favor. They are neither good nor evil, yet have a portal to the nether. (Although everyone has a portal to the nether apparently, even the frost. And that doesn't make a lick of sense. ) They have just as many forts as the dwarves have cities all over the map, and near every structure built by a certain person. They've gone so far as to just about claim the spawn city as their own, building massive forts and training grounds around it, and 'patrolling' the streets.

It's just a bit much. But like I said, I'll lay off for now, until you bring him up again. Or until he does something ridiculous. (Like when he gets the ability to use magic or goes back to being a vampire)

Exactly. Although we should probably do that once they find out how to get the permissions just right. Since right now, anyone can level anything. I think the plan is to restrict mages from leveling combat skills, since the only reason for mcmmo is for the combat skills to balance out the spells mages get.

Maybe in the future we can fix it so that certain skills are class and race specific. Such as certain classes only getting to level certain skills and not others. Like elves getting bows and swords, but no axes or mining. Or templar getting swords and axes, but no bows or acrobatics.

Either way, it's going to be a long term goal to get everything balanced out, and we'll continually be growing and developing, so it will be difficult to keep up. For the time being, I'd say let them keep their stats. Then reset those when we adjust the permissions. Then we can focus more on actual roleplay as opposed to pretending this is another mmorpg where you have to grind all day.
