Would it be possible to sort the packs in order of what mods they have textures for ?

This is a good idea. We're hoping to create better mod support in the future and that's a good start. Ideally we'll allow modders to upload and maintain support for their packs themselves as well as let them distribute their mod from the site directly, but this is something that won't happen soon due to how much time Bram and I have these days.

We just added support for Adfly in any pack download so sign up and start rewarding yourself for your fabulous work!

    Some comments on this-

We got a lot of requests from developers wanting to being able to run their download through adfly; the many developers that use adfly in distributing their packs couldn't do so if they decided to use our site. Since we want as many developers and textures/packs as we can, we obliged. It is at a cost though- if you decide to add adfly to your download, we'll insert our own adfly 20% of the time. Sound reasonable?

And in other news, we're upgrading our hosting service to a VPS which should be able to properly deal with the load.

Okay good. Does it load initially quickly and just take a while to download the images or does it sometimes seem to lock up when clicking a link then suddenly everything comes?

I know I experience the latter fairly often. As far as a solution, we have been thinking about paying for a dedicated server instead of relying on shared hosting. I'm pretty certain this would relinquish all laggy page loads and would also increase download speed for all the images after the initial page load. The only downside is that it costs about $200/month vs our relatively low shared hosting cost we pay now.

If we could gather enough donations to help pay for this it would definitely be a route we would take.

P.S. We were also thinking about hosting a Minecraft server or something like that as well if we were to purchase a dedicated server.

An addendum to the creation of an official MinecraftCustomizer Minecraft Server- we were throwing around ideas like making the front page be a window to the server, overlooking the primary city of it (IE, a livestream of the server from vantage point). We would then rotate the texture pack that the server is streamed in every day.

There are other cool things we could do with a dedicated server, but like we said its quite expensive. One way or the other, we're getting close to a maximum file limit so we're going to have to upgrade our web hosting service to some degree.

Holy crap, we picked a bad day to take time away from the site. I'll try to summon Bramamine and try to fix this issue, but we're both away right now.

    New Recent Popularity algorithm:

    LastWeek + ThisWeekSoFar * 2 + Yesterday * 7 + TodaySoFar * 14

    Thoughts and recommendations are welcome.
(NOTE: this was just implemented today so Yesterday will be 0 and TodaySoFar will be quite low)

I don't see this solving the problem of the most popular packs staying at the top at all times.

I don't know, i checked this website out and it seems kinda complicated to use.

It really isn't difficult to use and I'd be happy to clear any confusions you have.

It's easy when it's possible to upload.

I don't understand the new upload system. How do I upload stuff?

There isn't a new upload system, just a another page for easily tracking your textures' stats and editing the their descriptions.

Edit: Hm, there's a little bug, the names can now all be changed, but when I add spaces between words, it creates 20% instead after saving. And this is not visible in the editing page.

Well that's an embarrassing oversight- fixed.

I'm still hoping that the front page can be used to track developments in your favorite packs so it will display new textures (updated textures, if you ever add that).

Eventually. There's lots of stuff on my plate.

Made a new page for pack developers! The edit texture page (link on upper right of publish page). Check it out!

An issue I have. I saw my "random" banners of my texture pack Darkening, and I noticed that they didn't show exactly the textures I want it to show. Many of the textures shown are for people that don't like my normal textures, but I want to show the best. It should be an option which it will show.

Right now it just randomizes which textures it uses from your pack. If enough people think it should just use the first options from each pack then I'll change it accordingly.

I seem to be running across a bug today, whenever choosing alternative textures (requireing clicking and dragging) it doesn't work, and the thumbnail/icon disappears, only to reappear floating at the top of the page. I'm not sure whether it's a problem on my end or yours? Keep up the fantastic work by the way, it's a really useful site! :smile.gif:

I noticed that too. Was just about to post it.

New to today? What browser are you guys using?

Is there any reason that favouriting individual textures doesn't make them get automatically selected when you load the page? If you're using a texture pack that has a lot of textures you have to spend ages selecting the textures you want whenever you update it.

This is a pretty good idea, but what happens when someone favorites two of a pack's beds for instance? Which one should it select? The one you've most recently favorited? I'd hate for people to not favorite a texture simply so that it selects a certain option in the row.

I once did something similar to your playstyle where I just traveled in one direction every day but tried to set up camp a different way every night (this was before there were beds). First night I spent the night in a tree, then an underground burrow, the side of a cliff, in a tent made of wool, in a cave, in the middle of a lake and so on. It's a pretty neat way to play.

The latter, no amount of refreshing solves the problem. Reuploading can fix it sometimes, but not every time.

I'm not even sure others are seeing it the same way as me, I feel like someone would have brought it up by now.

It has been brought up before but it isn't a script that I wrote that needs fixing :tongue.gif: . Its an issue that mostly arises when you upload by the texture's name directly instead of 'by filename'. We'll try to fix it tonight.

I made another update to my texture pack, I think it should now generate a random preview picture.

It does indeed. There are now 30 packs that qualify.
