Posting in a pointless thread ><

Pre-release is purely optional, so keep em coming for those who want to have a look. Those of you who don't want them don't even need to bother.

And here I was planning on using Silk Touch for more efficient gathering of glowstone. I guess I was doing it wrong *rolls eyes*

OP needs to be less of a silly drama queen - especially over something as mundane as an iron pickaxe.

I loaded your seed into creative mode and had a look for myself. Your best bet is to dig upward. You will hit the open about 17 layers up. It's solid forever in all other directions.

well, there is an opening area in one of the directions, but it's a really long dig. It's shorter to just dig upward.

I love how the game can terrify me in one second, then send me into gales of laughter in the next.

*Riding a train car*, AHHHH! Creeper on the track! *Bails out of the minecart and legs it, for a bit, turns and finds no creeper*

    What the?

*Follow tracks, find minecart with creeper in it looking at me like "WTF you lookin' at bro?"*

This poll is pretty fail. You are asking two opposing questions for each answer.

This is such a non-issue. As always, the server owners set the rules. If you don't like it, find another server. Discussing the legitimacy of the mob grinder itself is such a waste of time.

There's servers out there that allow mob grinders, why don't you just go find yourself one?

posted a message on How 1.8 has affect my views of Mojang
    Quote from James Raynor

You realize that once out of development that nothing new will be added? Only bug fixes will really occur. Oh, and it's due for release in november.

And this is relivant to my Beta remarks how? I paid for Beta software, I'm getting beta software. If it releases like this, I got what I paid for. If it releases in it's current 1.8 condition, I'd say it isn't worth the proposed full price.

Until it releases in November, I will hold no opinion as to weither it's ready or not. As I've said, it's irrelivant to my arguement. What I said still stands. We paid for beta software with no guarantees of a release at all. You go in without reading the fine print, the onus is on you for not being careful, not Mojang.

posted a message on How 1.8 has affect my views of Mojang
Okay, I have about had it from the extremists on both sides of this arguement...

First, the apologists who exclaim "he has a life and a wife now". Yes, but so does most of humanity. Every day we all go into work, punch the clock, do our jobs, then punch out. We leave our personal lives at the door and do what is expected of us day in and day out. We balance our personal lives (wife and 3 kids here) with our jobs. So Notch gets a free pass? No, I'm sure even he would agree that he has a job to do. Stop it with that silly and pointless arguement - it holds no weight. I buy a service or product from a person, I don't give a rats ass what their personal life is, I want the product or service I paid for PERIOD. I don't expect any less from the customers I serve.

To the other side of the arguement - the product is Beta. This single fact is what kept me from buying it for so long. You are told from the onset that it's not only beta and subject to changes. You are also told at purchase there is no guarantee it will ever be finished. So if you go ahead and purchase the product with this forwarning and feel like you got burned later - the blame rests solely on your shoulders because you weren't promised anything but the ability to particiopate in a Beta and MAYBE a finished product.

While nobody is perfect, I think a large part of this community needs to take a look at themselves and ask themselves if they have set their expectations unrealisically high or low.

Me? Somewhat satisified. Still so much that can be improved, but still feeling like I'm getting my monies worth.

Have you checked all the holes and ponds? I've noticed animals tend to fall into these things and won't jump out. And since they don't "despawn", they all end up populating these "pits" while the rest of the world goes empty.

Not to mention a nice supply of pumpkins will be handy for making Jack O Lanterns. Great light source - and Endermen seem to take damage when they get near them.

posted a message on Simple Enderman Solution
I cannot believe how many people are still perpetiuating the MYTH that Enderman does not pick up player blocks. I have a 1.8 world who's house has been Ender vandalized TWICE. So really people... stop spreading misinformation around... it's FALSE.

Now, I have since ender-proofed my structures and all he bothers dealing with is sand blocks and trees. Fortunatly, I'm not so OCD to let myself get bent out of shape about it. If anything, I've considered carrying signs with me when I walkabout so I can put big "Ender wuz here!" signs at every tree he touches. *laughs*

Light Radius, Burning Netherrack, and Jack O Lantern light are all viable Ender-barriers (Yes, he takes damage when he gets near jack o lanterns. I'm suprised nobody but me has noticed this... am I going to have to make a seperate thread addressing this to get the community to start confirming this and utilzing this information?)

Honestly people, pull your heads out of the sand. While these solutions can not help those who are picky about landscaping, it should pacify the engineers out there.

Oh, mob grinders---- easy fix - build the spawning areas only two blocks high (Ender is three blocks high. DERP) then ender-proof the outside. Problem solved.

posted a message on Enderman Is Sabotage!
But that's just it, Enderman moving blocks is NOT game breaking because there are techniques to make it PREVENTABLE. Light radius, fire walls, Lava moats, and Jack-O-Lantern perimeter's all keep this mob from getting near your creations. Why is it such an imposition to adapt to the new terrain and fix it? Mob traps are still very viable, just make them only two blocks high.

Since the feature can be prevented/controlled by the player, I fail to see why it's such an issue. All I see is a bunch of people who just refuse to adapt.

OP, you built a monster trap, I applaud your effort. Just modify it to be only two blocks tall in the spawning areas, light the area around it good with a Enderman killing ring of some sort around it and your creation can keep giving you goodies. Your issue is solved.

posted a message on [myth busted] Enderman can pick up ANY block
Enderman's moving blocks will soon become a non-issue as more and more people discover Enderman doesn't like Jack-O-Lanterns. While within the light radius of them, they start taking damage. So a simple perimeter of Jacks will kill them before they even get close to your structures (assuming you've lit up your "owned" property proper). They'll be back to just being tree-hating annoyances.

posted a message on Sprinting: Better than Minecarts
Considering my stockpile of iron and rails garnered in the shortime the update has been out - I am not considering the cost of creating a mine cart track to be that big of a deal.

Yes, sprint might be cheap, but it's not nearly as convenient as a rail system. Hit button, tab out, chat with friends, manage inventory, take a dump. BAM - at your destination. All for just a bit of investment in time laying the track, you've given yourself the ability to multitask during travel.

Gold rails a problem? Oh please... on flat ground you only need 1 every 35 blocks if your looking to get their fast, you can spread it out more if you feel the need to. 6 gold per combine yielding 16 boosters. The redstone required to power the rails is negligable next to it's commonality.

Besides, what else are you going to use the Gold for anyway? It's tacky as a decoration and terrible for weapons and armor :biggrin.gif:

Use your feet if you wish - But rails still have a place in the game.

posted a message on Unlimited mushrooms?
I like the new mushroom system. Hell, they weren't that uncommon to begin with. A trip to the neither or a trip down a good sized cave would always yield you a couple stacks. Not to mention that you could set up farms to grow them if you understood how their grow mechanics worked.

So no OP, I disagree with you completely.
