The Frontier is a science fiction themed roleplaying server on Minecraft. On this server, you play the life of an optimistic character living in the Frontier, a distant futuristic world during a period of massive interstellar colonization, strife, wars and a new age of capitalism. You'll explore a whole new brand of politics, moral and philosophical debate and science, but you'll run into the familiarity of crime and warfare interspersed between worlds.
When you push your character through the crowd's of the disenfranchised around the narrow alleyways of District 01, or when you navigate the sharp alien mountain ranges of Kuiper's Loran Continent, you will inevitably run into social conflict; the game is how you deal with it.
Our server currently features the following mechanics: Quests, Civilization Building with Factions, Guns, Diseases, Survival, Brewery, and Economy all tied into the RPG element of the server. Read more about the server by clicking the boxes below.

The IMC seeks to have fun by mimicking military operations where practicable on MC; you may be taking on the role of a recruit going through basic training, being assigned tenure as a Drill Instructor, organizing and instructing troops as an officer or practicing infantry movements on a PvP server all the while applying real military doctrinal standards. You will have the opportunity to learn, ask questions and seek guidance from real military members. Additionally you can join the Server Operations Corps (SOC) where we plan, build and maintain a MC roleplaying server *SOC and MILSIM are not mutually exclusive, you may partake in it all.
Group History
During the previous existence of Markham Armed Forces, we saw many of our young members join the Active Duty USMC, US Army National Guard, Canadian Army Reserves, Canadian Army Regular Officer Training Program, firefighting, para-medicine, law enforcement, British TA as an officer and all sectors and walks of life in the professional world. We hope the newly formed IMC can provide guidance and community to new individuals hoping to do the same. I have the distinct privilege of being able to keep in contact with these former players via Facebook & Skype today -- that was the type of community we developed.
After the fall of the first generation of Markham players, some of them followed me to Eurasia RP. Eurasia started in 2010 as a modern city RP server, formed by former members of Markham. At the apotheosis of the community we saw hundreds of players roleplaying daily in a unique world crafted by player interactions, shaped by the lore we wrote. We saw thousands of dollars in donations come in to fund the server from the collective community. Eurasia has taken many forms since 2009, from a city RP, it developed into a steampunk, fantasy and a finally a cyberpunk server before it was formally shutdown in 2016 when life seized many of the staffers. Albeit at times the server was hectic and stressful, the community created was something to be proud of. In the IMC, we hope to restart that community with our collective knowledge and we want to bring you on board to our unique group of gamers.
MILSIM/RP (IMC Marine Corps)
Although in roleplay, the IMC is based on a private corporation, In practice it is regimented in a highly militaristic manner so we do not have to worry about all the mundane stuff like board meetings or shareholders. Organizational structures and doctrines of the IMC are drawn from the United States Marine Corps and the MILSIM/RP component of this community will be referred to as the Marine Corps.
The Marine Corps organization can be reduced to two basic functions; the enlisted rank and file, and the Officer Corps. Upon signing up to the IMC Marines, you will be automatically assigned to the enlisted troops with a recruit rank, no exceptions. In the Marines you will have the opportunity to promote through the ranks based on merit and commitment. Get promoted enough and you will be commissioned as an officer in the IMC. If you have real life military or cadet experience, you may be fast-tracked for promotion.
Regularly, the Marine Corps will be organizing military-style training, roleplay events, meetings and opportunities to "deploy" to different servers. Bear in mind that you will be required to wear a uniform-skin when playing with the IMC events.
Server Operations Corps (SOC)
The SOC in essence can be interpreted as one of the civilian component of the corporation. The primary focus for members of the SOC is server building, planning and operations. This can include basic functions of minecraft such as building, or more advanced stuff such as developing plugins, writing lore, community administration and moderation, community liaison and advertisements. Currently we are in the midst of planning a cyberpunk style and steampunk roleplay server. If you want to be a part of this, you must demonstrate aptitude and dedication. To have a successful server, this must be taken seriously and you must be able to work as a part of a cohesive group of staff members.
Civilians
If neither the military or server building aspects interest you, the primary civilian wing may be the fit for you. In roleplay, the IMC is a vast interstellar conglomerate with colonies on numerous worlds - this means it must have all the functions of a normal government and provide all the functions a normal government would provide; this could include law and order so demanding jobs as police, lawyers and judges; foreign policy, requiring diplomats; and all things else governmental so perhaps you can be a politician, engineer, economist, scientists, mathematician, special interest lobbyist etc. If the IMC interests you but you don't want to partake in the MILSIM or SOC side of things, we will find a way to integrate you in as any profession you want to be because in the end it is about building a community of gamers.
