The alchemy mod is fine to use, however, I designed the map for 1.8.1's hunger bar, and I don't like all of the alchemy pots that are in the mod. If someone could tell me how to control such factors, I'd gladly upload a new version specifically for use with the mod. Otherwise, you don't get renewable dyes until intersection 4 anyway, so I wouldn't really bother.
You can send a custom Potions.cfg file with the world download.
In the potions.cfg you can edit the length of time set for each potion. Even set them to zero. You can set the effects of the potions you don't like/want to zero and it would be a waste of time to make/use them.
Doesn't make it impossible to use them. It's more of a honor thing. If they use the mod and don't use your custom potions file then its not as impressive.
Minecraft Mods and Super Hostile:
I balance around vanilla Minecraft, and mods that impact the gameplay are technically cheating.
However, there are some mods that are fine for you to use:
- Mods that make your hand-held torch give light. (Should be part of the vanilla game, IMHO.)
- Mods that don't affect the gameplay. (Graphic tweaks, UI tweaks, etc.)
- Simple Alchemy (Coded by HansiHE from my Simple Alchemy System on the suggestion board.)
I'm on a server with 2 friends playing Infernal Sky II.
It the most fun we have had in a long time. Thank you Vechs.
Pros
+I love cave maps.
+you actually started me off in a somewhat decent spot.
+I didn't expect that first mob spawner there.
Cons
-Trees aren't really needed scattered around, if anyone has ever done a underground map they should know how to make a tree farm.
-That 7 iron right next to where i started made it super easy. Remove some, maybe be a troll and have only 1 iron there.
-Make the challenges a little bit more challenging.
Over all i give it a 7/10 I feel like I don't need to worry in the beginning but it is still fun.
I have so far
1 stack of iron
almost 2 stacks of coal
2 iron picks an iron sword
a small tree farm
a wheat farm that when fully grown puts out 15 wheat.
and I'm working on making a trap near that spawner. (mmm rotten flesh)
I will give Boat Crash a try. Will edit my post when I play around on it a bit.
Pros
+I had to use tree for coal. Didn't find any until I started digging
Cons
-Island too small.
-There is no way to tell where the ravine is, not even a hint so I didn't bother looking.
-Too easy to light up the island and there is no room on it for mobs to spawn.
-You made surviving too easy by giving all of those bones.
-Traps poorly hidden.
Also i accidently your boat. fire everywhere.
You could make it better by not giving so many bones, giving seeds to start.
Renew-ability is required, there's no two ways about it. In a FPS do you give 3 lives and that's it? No. The idea behind the potions is that they'll take time to make but still be renewable. -snip-
In Canopy Carnage there were small patches of grass hidden up inside some of the trees. If he hides grass on other maps then you could technically make more potions using bonemeal to grow flowers on the grass.
+Nice sized island
+I am happy I can see other islands in the distance. (I dislike most survival island type maps with huge bedrock walls)
+I have a goal (complete the monument)
Cons
-There was way too much coal in that small cave. If you want a challenging map, make it like 3-5 coal ore not 20+.
This is just from about 10 minutes of playing. I am looking forward to play on this for a while.
